Major apologies for the re-upload, the original video had a mistake where I left a clip of me cussing because I got so frustrated from the level (not something I do on the normal, this level just brought out the salt in me). It was a huge mistake on my part and I honestly feel sick to my stomach for not catching it when I was editing. Not only did I let the viewers who saw it down, but I let myself down as well. Some of you might be saying, "so what, everyone makes mistakes." and you are 100% right. But I also am allowed to feel awful about my mistake. As a Christian, husband, father and, what I consider, a friend to you all, I have certain standards for myself. And through those standards you all have come to expect me to hold up to those standards...which you should. You trust me to be content the whole family can watch and I dropped the ball. I want to firmly and humbly apologize and ask for forgiveness. I am so disappointed in myself guys...I'm so sorry. Know I will continue to strive to bring you content the whole family can enjoy. I'm sure I will continue to make mistakes along the way, but my hope is that you guys will be around to keep me accountable. I love you all and appreciate your support.

@@mistertagomago7974 I think the main issue was the grind to retrace your steps in that level wasn't much fun (lots of time consuming required main path obstacles, meaning there's no skipping them after you know the right thing to do), in addition to some uninspired parts like pick a pipe (that was notably compounded due to being an obstacle late into the given level section before a checkpoint), which is less mind games and more just inserting a rng element. Certainly not outright hot garbage, but still frustrating. The level was only 15 minutes in the video, but it was a 37 minute clear time after restarting and thus not even counting all the time put into figure out the pre-checkpoint grind. Lots of playtime and deaths likely cut out.
@@Shalakor Well I didnt say it looked great lol. But it's far from the worst we've seen on here. This guy at least feels like he put effort and tried his best outside the pick a pipe.
To Dave's point on troll levels, and really any good level design: good levels never have to hide information or resources from the player to make it challenging. As an example, most Pick-a-pipes are terribly cheap because they ask the player to do something with information they could never possibly have. Trolls are (mostly) meant to circumvent your expectations, a guessing game just makes you feel like your choices are wrong to being with, which just isn't a fun player experience. Good trolls provide all the circumstances to make you think you're right, but then go show you you're wrong in surprising ways.

Yes. Though I wouldn't have cared about the cuss, I do like DGR's Family Friendly Content commitment. If we all could try to be more for the kids sometimes in just our words and actions, maybe this world would be better.

well to be honest that level was designed by some kind of malicious person with malicious intent.
I suffered with him. After I discovered his channel a few weeks back and viewed all those glorious troll levels he played and how he could enjoy them, this level was kind of a downer for everybody. :D

@@michiganpride389 I’m okay with youtube censoring SOME videos, but it’s gotten ridiculous. Videos should only be censored if they are highly inappropriate or for spreading misinformation. I think the reason dgr doesn’t cuss is because people of any age might be watching his streams and he doesn’t want to offend anyone.

I agree, that guy must feel bad when he watches this. But I'm glad that DGR didn't pretend to like it and was honest, the experience was obviously so frustrating that he just couldn't. Nice to see some true emotions for once, even though I like DGR's cheeriness.

The level was clearly hot garbage and I doubt the creator had good intentions in mind when he uploaded it. There were just many aspects in that level that relied on pure chance without any indications.

i think this kind of relationship between level designer and player creates a special kind of phenomenon that only Super Mario Maker is letting people see right now. the idea of frustration and satisfaction in overcoming a challenge, along with the herculean difficulty some levels contribute and some players submit themselves to... idk. it just feels very beautiful.
for our two cents, we would have enjoyed seeing the raw frustration in the video; some of the reactions left in seem kind of put-on, and seeing raw human emotion is something only streaming and youtube are really letting ppl do right now. maybe it's kind of parasitic, but i guess that's what we are. thanks for the video.

This video is now Coppa compliant. All jokes aside. I'm subbed to 3 MM2 content creators. All, but Dav, curse. I don't mind the cursing from them at all, but having a channel like DGR that my daughter can watch is amazing. Getting a call about why my daughter is saying "checkpoint city" over "f@$king s#!t".... I'll take it. I wanna say though. He could have been like, meh. But he didn't. A full out apology. More than anything, I love the sight of the screen coming down, like you are opening a window from the game world into reality which you step throughand just... nope out through. Very cartoony, and its thebest.

Everyone makes mistakes. What matters is how you handle your own mistakes. You didn't make excuses for it, and you addressed it immediately. Cursing doesn't bother me much, but I'm glad you reuploaded because of your standards and how making that mistake made you feel. Good work, DGR!
