    I am pretty sure everyone would have been happier with just the Iron Man head without the body as a "hidden feature" but accurate proportion on the Hulkbuster. It would have achieved almost the same thing.

    • @emperorturtlez481
      @emperorturtlez481 Год назад +33

      that's a pretty good idea, i mean all you see from it is the head so if you're able to get the proportions right by only including the head and not building around the other set, it's totally worth it.

    • @ShortRound42
      @ShortRound42 Год назад +9

      Yeah, that's a good solution, plus another company that does more premium figures has you buy both but use only the torso of Iron Man to fit inside.
      I guess they wanted a more 'toy' like huge figure to have another full figure inside it.
      I dig it. Just wish for it'd be like $500 and you get two really nicely done exclusive figs.

    • @lesterantenor1026

      Just an Iron man head? Then what's point of having an Iron man inside if its just a head of Iron man?!

    • @ShortRound42
      @ShortRound42 Год назад +4

      @@lesterantenor1026 It's to shorten the torso so it's more movie accurate.
      They do this on some of the premium figures out there. They either just show the head, with some of the arc reactor peaking or just the head and a hint of the shoulders, OR they do just the torso.
      For this kit, it would've helped to go in that direction. If you've seen some of them, they work. They don't look awkward.

    • @AuthenRodica
      @AuthenRodica Год назад +2

      Well I'd rather have the ability to put that iron man action figure in hulkbuster than what diecast toy makers have done prior, which is to just have a head in there. The latter defeats the uniqueness of the hulkbuster armor vs any plain'o iron man suit.

  • @thor17usa
    @thor17usa Год назад +274

    For that price, LEGO should have done the following: Created a Hulkbuster with the correct proportions, even if smaller in size, but accurate; included a buildable Hulk character with pose-ability; a better Ironman/Tony minifig and added a Bruce Banner minifig. It would be great to pose both a Hulk and Hulkbuster to re-create scenes from the movie.

    Just crazy they made this at $550 when fans have been asking for large minifig based sets like the avenger tower. Marvel isn't like star wars with a huge fan base around just the ships, they can't make a massive set like this without a minifig focus. It just goes to show that despite what Lego says, they usually disregard fan feedback.

It is big and cool looking, but it's hard to get past the wrong proportions, disappointing and questionable choice mini-figure, all the stickers, no pose-ability on the legs, the very high price point, the high price per piece ratio, the silly constraint of having to fit the iron man action figure into it, the list goes on. I may purchase it on a heavy discount sometime in the future, or if a MOCer gets their hands on it and corrects the proportions, I will go for it then. Thanks!

    Definitely going to wait for the set to go on sale. The price is a joke compared to other sets that are currently or are coming to store shelves. I know Lego recently upped their prices on sets, but this set doesn’t appear to have any correlation it’s simply overpriced.

    Great review, man! It just sucks that I have yet to come across a positive review on this set. When it was rumored a while back I was super excited, but once the leaks and official images came out I was disappointed. The proportions and massive gaps are what killed it for me before I ever knew of the price tag. I'm baffled how the set made it to production with so many pretty apparent issues. All I'm waiting for at this point is to see someone buy it to rework it into what it should have been all along at that scale.

    For anyone interested, I just picked this set up for £330 pounds U.K or around $400 dollars US, from smyths toys in there sale ( it’s that price at every smyths store nationwide right now) , I feel this is a far far more reasonable price for this set as it was originally £475 pounds in the UK and I think $550 US, so if anyone in the UK has been waiting for this set to drop in price now’s your chance.

    I guess I'm in the vast minority, but I'm glad Lego went with a giant mech instead of just a bunch of minifigures, and I also don't care much at all that the proportions were altered. The fact that Lego has released an official mech this large, when even just the Voltron set posed a lot of design challenges for them, is insanely cool. I can see why Marvel fans might be upset, but as a fan of Lego mechs, I'm definitely getting this monster

    As someone who collects ALL the Marvel sets, and also is very fortunate enough to have a pretty good disposable income, I will eventually be purchasing this. BUT!!! I will definitely be getting it with the sole intention of improving it, whether I figure out how to do it myself or someone else does it first and releases instructions. I’m SURE people will improve this and I’ll gladly purchase instructions and the parts needed to fix it in the future.
    I do agree that the price is crazy, and there’s definitely issues with the looks, but in my opinion it can definitely be improved to make it look much better. I hope it gets discounted in the future through other retailers like Target or Walmart, and if it wasn’t for the completionist in me that HAS to have all the Marvel sets lol, I’d skip this, but I know I’ll buy it one day and definitely figure out how to improve it.

    The Light Bricks surely cannot be that expensive; the Technic Batmobile (yes I know it's Technic and isn't quite the same) has two differently coloured Light Bricks and 1360 pieces (most of which are very small but there's a good amount of large ones), at $100 and still is retailing at $100 even after other sets have had price increases. Probably would've been like $150, knowing Lego's insane pricing habits.
    This mech, the only real plus point it has is that the set is focussed on the mech itself, and doesn't have some throwaway side build to justify the budget, which has been increasing a lot lately from other sets. But it's still needlessly big and just too expensive because of this; it's impressive no doubt, but there's plenty other impressive Lego sets already that don't cost almost or more than half a grand! Stickers, shape inaccuracies, the frankly ugly gaps under the armpit area and the high concerns over the dark red pieces' shading consistency just great cheapens the set and undermines its massive price further.
    Seriously, it's much more blatant this year how severely over priced majority of the sets with the 18+ age rating are, and it's been abused and used as an excuse to set these high prices; some are fine like the Galaxy Explorer, but it's only a small handful though.

  • @BoomBrickz

    I’m grabbing this Nov 5th, I’m disappointed with the minifigure and all those stickers however it is going to look epic in my display. It will be interesting to try and MOC it to make it look more accurate to the Hulk Buster in the movie. Just wish that the design team would be more ruthless with their own designs before they go into production.
