I saw this video on my drive to my Seattle Cascades audition and it was really helpful. I just found out I got in, so thank you for the tips.

I would recommend a physical fitness routine several months prior to auditioning, jog, do a lot of push ups and sit ups, as a horn player do breathing exercises and work on dynamic control, do a lot of scale work both staccato and legato with a metronome, be prepared, learn your audition piece so you can play it by memory, choose a piece that shows technique and skill, play it with emotion not robotic, keep a positive mental attitude and have fun.

You are the best, you have inspired me to go and try to audition. Is there any drum corps you prefer?

7:08 FRRRR just playing longtones and not moving is the most difficult bc theres nothing to take your mind off the pain of holding it up

A little late, but I play Trumpet, and I was wondering some things to practice for Auditions. I've never done drum corps, and I'm starting with DCA. Atlanta CV drum and bugle corps. I don't have the packet yet, I just need some tips on what I should practice.

I might audition for CV too if Spirit doesn't work out. Just work on basic stuff. Lip slurs, long tones and scales. Doing that will take you places. Remember that it doesn't matter how good you can play your etude if you don't have your fundementals on par. I'm a trumpet player too so, if you want some more help shoot me a message on insta @orlando.boi

most corps don't have trombone lines, I would recommend euph.

Most corps bring instruments for you. Ask around!

Austin Armstrong I know I’m kinda late to this but do corps really bring their own instruments for you? Also I’m auditioning for the blue devils this year and I’m very nervous, any extra advice off the top of your head.

Solus Music this might be late as h e c k, but if you go to a registration for a drum corps, you can usually sign out an instrument
