- My first drive with Tesla FSD 12.4.3 was zero intervention, though it wasn't able to find a spot to pull over at the end. It looks like completely hands free self-driving is ready for wide release!

I’m honestly shocked at the reality of what is happening here… We are watching the evolution in real time of the future of driving in this country… it’s truly amazing to watch
100%.
I look forward to the future book covering the entirety of Autopilot & FSD development from its earliest days to the rollout of the robotaxi.
Every twist & turn, every roadblock and slight step forwards will make a great story.
@BLAISEDAHL96
It's like living and witnessing invention of a wheel and fire at the same time. Boring 😴
Yes, it is incredible! and to think that the media and public at large aren't thrilled with anticipation for what is about to unfold is mind boggling . Watching the birth of FSD on RUclips has really highlighted the lack of vision that the vast majority of people have. They either desperately want it to fail in their quest to cling to what's familiar, or they only see the mistakes. The reality is that Tesla FSD can now handle over 90% of driving scenarios with no human intervention required. It will be far superior to human drivers in the near future and will be as boring and commonplace as driving internal combustion engine cars are today. It'll be no big deal and we will quickly forget that we used to have to manually drive ourselves everywhere.
Still a L2 driving assistance tool. Tesla hasn't even applied for L3 in California. LMFAO
@@happyfunnyfoo case in point with this comment
Wow... just Wow. For someone from the UK, this is just mind-boggling. Thanks for all your vids, they're a social history of where we're going (literally) in the mobility world.
Your sarcasm and tongue in cheek comment about sending short sellers a version that will only go to yellow lights and slam the breaks was so funny I was surprised the lady with you did not break into a giggle! 😅And then you couldn’t stop yourself from that Dan o’Dowd reference! 🤷♂
what is the time index for these comments such as mentioning Dan O'Dowd? Could be amusing, thanks.

Wow... what a cheeky blow from the Tesla dick riders... that hit me hard, oof
Brakes, not breaks. Just sayin'
Elon, please have a wide release soon. I am still stuck with my v12.3.6 and can’t wait any longer to experience this newest version.
This is history in the making. Thank you for putting in the effort for this video!
FSD is reaching perfection 🤌🏽
One of the things I’ve noticed that’s incredibly cool. Is when I’m in the fast lane with FSD and another car is coming up fast behind me my Tesla model Y will move into the middle lane to let the car go by and then, if there are no more cars coming up quickly, it will move back to the fast lane again.
Yes and it will display a note saying it is “moving out of the passing lane”. I wish more humans were aware that this is what is supposed to be done.
Really learning from best driving behaviors.
The passing lane?
I noticed that on my last FSD drive during this past weeks July 4th holiday rally traffic
@@lucalla the far left lane of any multi-lane road is the passing lane. Don’t go over there and hang out. Keep it clear unless you need to pass slow traffic. People don’t know this because they stopped teaching driving in schools. A shame.
Thank you especially for the commentary Omar. Much appreciated.
I gotta be honest, I love the passive aggressive salty commentary about all of the Tesla and Elon haters lol.
You’ll be a Tesla consumer eventually. Your utility will buy their Megapacks. You’ll hail a robotaxi ride. You’ll be served by one of their robots. Not a question of IF just a question of when.
They look like total idiots.
Haha yes
@@JaiUneGuruDeja yeah with elons companies its like they are late but atleast they deliver it eventually other companies promise something and then never deliver or its dissapointing, with tesla/ spacex it never is
It was also nice to see San Francisco on a beautiful 70 degree day in July.
A huge improvement from what I've experienced with 12.3.6. I can't wait to get it! This demonstration gives me great confidence that CyberCab will become a reality soon.
These drives with commentary are SO illuminating, THANK YOU!
One suggestion. I think most of us are back on 12.3.6, so if your commentaries compared the latest version you have with the most common version we have, that would be even better.
FSD is becoming exceptional good
It’s still getting better. If this is a level 2 it’s driving better than the level 3 cars that are out.
The level 3 cars have a very limited specification….usually speed limited on simple known freeways. They cannot do anything like this. No one else except Waymo - which is just limited to a few cities. Its amazing.
Mercedes should be embarrassed
No, Tesla right now with no FSD is a level 2 automated car, with FSD (when it works) it's a level 3. And if we can push it even further a level 4. But I'd say that's 1 or 2 years in the futur for a level 4 car.
@@aizenbobwhen it works? You obviously don’t own an FSD hardware 4 vehicle. Even on 12.3 it drives me to and from work in traffic 50 miles away each way with no interventions nearly everyday. That’s more than 99% operability rate.
@@twothbeave I've head an level 3 car you can take your eyes off the road but must remain awake however a 4 level car you can watch a movie or sleep with no fear. Until then I'm still waiting for this tech to mature a bit more.
16:18 pedestrian crossing between the cars.
People on the crossing. FSD didn't stop. A very real small child risk.
A very badly located crossing. Far too many cars parked too close.
18:00 Other cars on right facing a give way sign coming out of carpark.
Failing to move adds to confusion for those with no right of way.
High risk of low speed collision.
9:51 Could have slowed a little more passing the bus.
Risk of some one stepping out in front.
Amazing drive.
Anyone who says FSD isn't close isn't paying attention.
I look forward to the future book covering the entirety of Autopilot & FSD development from its earliest days to the rollout of the robotaxi.
Every twist & turn, every roadblock and slight step forwards will make a great story.
Amazing to watch this capability exponentially improving in real time, excellent commentary Omar. The car feels like an expert, considerate and very safe driver, and has a likeable personality! The parking indecisiveness at the end feels like a little thing that Tesla will tick off their list soon, probably along with “Banish” etc.
Absolutely awesome video! Thanks for posting - it’s really coming along. I was on the 11 version you were talking about so it’s really cool to see the difference.
Thanks! Respect 👍
I liked your observations and you articulated them nicely.
It seems to be working well… the potential is enormous.
Amazing as always… shows how Consumer Reports and the mainstream media are totally blind to reality.
I like your commentary videos.
Me too!!! ♥️
Hesitency and double stops at the stop signs seem something to be polished. Beginning and the end of the drive as well. But judging from all videos of 12.4.3 the drive itself is mostly amazing. It will need some refinements as 12.3 did. But resulting 12.4.6 will be a killer. And no wheel nag is huge of course.
Spectacular video and narration. Thank you for investing the time.
Your videos make me homesick for SF. Love them.
SF is f*cked - my buddy rented a Turo - big mistake. It’s not safe.
I think the ultimate test would be a driving exam using a driving examination test .
Thank You for All that you are doing for our Planet Earth....
Peace.. Shalom.. Salam.. Namaste
🙏🏻 😊 ✌ ☮ ❤
This gives me enough confidence to subscribe to fsd
looks great!
Its amazing that we see a vision only system in action... No RADAR or LADAR needed making the car 50k or 80k cheaper compared to what competition can do. When this gets used by everyone it will save so many lives. And make people owning tesla much more rich.
Absolutely fantastic.
Tesla fsd keeps getting better and better. In my experience it has gone from 97% good, to 99% good in the last year. 100% good will come real soon.
Nice video, nice drive, nice nail polish!
Thanks for a pleasant drive through beautiful San Francisco. 😎
I can't wait until FSD can avoid pot holes! One of my biggest issues since there's a lot of them near me.
Looks great. Thanks for sharing .
Awesome mate
i cant wait until i get mine
Good review of the new release of FSD.
The best one!!
Excellent, thank you
I've been watching your videos for quite a while now and think they're the best out there. I've recently bought FSD for our 2018 model 3 RWD LR and am now patiently waiting for FSD 12.4.3. I'm also considering upgrading to the M3 Highland now that Elon has allowed for transfer of FSD to a new car through August 31, 2024. It's an exciting time for this 76 year old fan!
it's so smooth 🤯
I own a new model y and I used FSD for the first full month I had the car and literally used it for 90% of my driving. It worked amazing. My only issue is the $99 cost per month. Would love it cheaper, like $25 a month.
worked great but you dont want to pay. maybe they should include it in the total price of the vehicle then it would feel free. come on man, 90 percent. lol
@@natpainter8185 it'll continue to get cheaper. Just like cruise control is baked into the price nowadays so will full self driving. In fact, Tesla could drive more sales if they advertise it as a standard feature before everyone else does.
Pick up some TSLA stock and it will pay for the FSD in appreciation.
As of Friday 7/5/2024 performance:
5 Day 27.40%
1 Month 41.35%
3 Month 46.99%

Great commentary Omar 🎉
First thanks for your support to Tesla FSD and years of being a Early Access participant. I look to you and Chuck Cook for methodical testing of each version. I got out of the program a number of years ago when vehicle became stuck without updates (awaiting FSD improvement sync to feature versions). However, I did receive an early version of 12.4.3 on my Model S, Plaid (AP4). Although 12.4.3 is smoother, I found many regressions --- wrong routes, speed limits incorrect, jerky speeds for no apparenct reason, failure to manuver around vehicle that 12.3.6 could, getting in the wrong lane (actually, got our of the right lane 2/10 of a mile before having to make the right turn), failling to make turn into my neighborhood that was fixed in 12.3.6. When manuvering between cones in a construction area, it decided to try to go up a steep curb which I had to prevent. Completely missing turns due to wrong lane. I enjoyed using 12.3.6 but find so many problems here in Atlanta with 12.4.3 that I wish I could go backwards. For me 12.4.3 is not unsafe, but I've never completed an extended drive w/o an intervention. Hopefully, Tesla's team will work on another "point" release before going wide... That's why we test... thanks for your channel and all the other Early Access drivers out there.
It’s fascinating how the screen has different aerial views of the cars position. At an intersection it’s as if there’s a drone following it 3-5 stories above the car and then the view comes in a little tighter as the car begins to travel again. These videos always make my wallet itch to buy more stock.
Very good comments about the drive …. Nice to know what is your impression of parts of the drive and how the vehicle responds. thanks.
Looking good!
Looks a lot faster. I'd be pretty happy. I am finally a little used to creep with 12.3.6 since it's a lot smoother on acceleration. Prior to that I couldn't tell if it was wanting to jump out in front of 50 mph traffic coming out of my neighborhood. I'm a fan of staying to the right or in the lane I need rather than shifting. But that's my style and not FSD
Impressive!!!!!! thanks.
Thanks!
WOW...turning into the parking lot's entrance and the car moving ahead of the other car since the other car was blocked by a pedestrian (23:21) = nice!
thanks a lot for your videos, would like to see a video on a highway in in future if possible!
Looks fabulous.
It still absolutely astounds me that so many drivers in the US roll through a stop sign. Stop means stop. Period.
In most countries around the world rolling through a 🛑 Stop sign will earn you an expensive ticket. Here in Australia it’s hundreds of dollars and serious points on your licence if a cop sees you, and therefore more than likely writes you a ticket.
My city replaced many stop signs with yield, to avoid people having to stop and restart on a snowy, icy hill, at least when no one is coming.
When i lived in Oslo a couple of months, the law was that one should yield and preferably not stop where minor residential streets met slightly larger residential streets. They thought that worked better for traffic flow.
Given that American drivers seem to prefer yield to stop, I wonder if they'd find they like roundabouts.
Great ride along. Hope the legacy S/X release comes soon! I think the hesitation around 17:45 was people on the left looking like they might cross.
already running on legacy S&X
I agree, that was probably the wait. I think those people SHOULD have gone once the car on the right pulled across.
@@WholeMars Awesome! I should get next batch then.
Thank you for sharing 🥰🥰
Looks good
Soooooo awesoooooooome!!!!!!!!
Thanks
Can’t wait to get 12.4.3 from 12.3.6
Это просто огнище!!! Спасибо, чел! И да, очень, очень приятные комментарии, ты лучший! ♥️♥️♥️
Highly polished driving behaviors. It seems ready. Pedestrian traffic is difficult more like game theory, but this version of FSD handled it with approval.
$TSLA: 10-15x in 5 + 5x in 10 = 50-75x in 15.
Excellent progress. In a year, it looks it would have pretty u h nailed it down to very good level. Neural Nets are incredible tbh. Like Direct Numerical simulations.
motorcycle and the Sysco truck was a good call out! thats the advanced AI at work versus a bunch of code with logic statements. This is what = human like behaviour and makes you more comfortable when the car is driving.
But does it move to the left of the lane when you are in lane 1 on a California freeway and a motorcycle comes up in your lane passing you legally? In California this is perfectly legal and it is annoying that in the past it doesn't give that extra 18 inches of clearance when it happens.
"red means stop, green means go, yellow means go faster" - Starman
Well, to be more accurate "yellow means go like hell".
upvoted!!!
I did not know you had a RUclips I follow your X account and join your spaces 😂 awesome stuff
Hands fee))) amazing
Very impressive!!! Now have it take you the visitor center at the Golden Gate Bridge, and then tell it to take you down Lombard Street from Hyde Street, and then tell it to take you out to Treasure Island. Then have it take you to Golden Boy Pizza(the best pizza in San Francisco). If you can do that, then I'll really be impressed.
Awesome video! I think at 17:50 mark, the hesitation was the two bystanders that looked like they were going to try to cross so it was being cautious. Not sure, but thats my guess.
typically for yellow lights , if you are within the solid painted white lines when triggered the car should commit
Great video and a good demo of the latest version FSD. It would have been nice though to see how it handled more left turns at say a busy crossroads that has no traffic lights. I'm sure it'll do it fine but would have be great to see.
Nice! I remember Elon's saying each incremental 0.1 increase in V12 is akin to the version steps from V1 to V11. So, V12.4+ is a big step towards autonmy. 😎 He also said that V13 will be the final version. He must love the number 13.
😆😂🤣🤣
The unlucky number. The last hope for the Tesla bears. Ironic.
Yes, and bring on FSD 12.5 on the Cybertruck
Enjoy your fsd videos, the progress is amazing. I think the car should've stopped at 4:20 though to let the old person cross the street.
Agreed.
I am really impressed by this progress, which in my opinion is still far too little appreciated at the moment🤝
Sadly for me in my rural routes, other than lane centering (which is better), 12.4.3 is a regression in every way compared to 12.3.6! It pulls partly straight out into intersections, pauses, and then tries to make a hard 90 degree turn instead of following a natural arc. It switches lanes back and forth for no reason. Gets "locked" at lower speeds and you have to "remind" it to go back up to the speed limit by pressing the accelerator. And is just overall more unsure. 2024 Model 3 Performance with hardware 4. Still, progress can be a little bumpy at times. Kudos to the FSD team for having their eyes on the prize and working so hard!
FSD is delivering so much value already.
The Revolution started already
Let's go wide release !
The previous version should have been wide release.
@@FriedChairsThis version appears to be much better. The wide release version should be well polished before release to the masses.
@@audience2 12.4.2 was miles better than any version of 11 or below.
good stuff
Yea baby. Let’s go
i think it was driving better than me
Yann doesn't know how this is done and its flippin hilarious.
Awesome, Robotaxi will be huge impact!
Suggest not to rest your feet behind the brake.
Awesome ❤❤❤❤
This is amazing for San Francisco i need someone to up the score and do this in NYC
I kept thinking the sticker in the lower right of the windshield was a warning sign on the street ahead! I would also rather see the nav screen larger and with the car's direction pointing up, which would also bring the actual speed, target speed, and speed limit into view. With FSD, I really don't have to have the full screen showing all the stuff around the car.
I have driven in instances where Tesla fsd has proceeded through the yellow caution light with precision & decisiveness.
I don’t own a Tesla , I own Tesla shares .
Just imagine not having to hire an ICE car when visiting Europe from Oz, would take almost all the stress away and minimise risk of accidents.Love it ❤😊
Thanks Mars for your sharing the video and I can''t wait for my FSD update. btw, how did you fix your camera in your car? Where is it?
like it is so close to greatness, and might even be better than some drivers, but the fact that sometimes it might screw up, makes people really nervous. i believe it is the future, and if self driving is the only thing on the road, it will straight up be better. but its just convincing people that the screwups that go viral are a nonconcern. i also believe that road signs and roads should be designed for self-driving cars in the future, so that the roads help make the cars more reliable and remove the small chances of failure that there might be, in say extremely low visibility weather. maybe something like instead of light that cant penetrate through snow it uses another wavelength that the cameras can pick up or some other cheap sensor through heavy rain or snow at long distances. or reflecting stribs on the road that reflect light that the car puts out from the headlight that the car can see but not the passenger.
That was pretty good. One thing that always bother me with FSD was how hard it would brake instead of being more human like of easing into the brakes.
As a would be tourist driving in that area..... FSD did much better than I would have not knowing the area.
Without you, even sophisticated investors would have no clue what's going on
Compared to regular traffic in any big city this is kids' play. Take it into downtown SF or any big city in the rush hours. In terms of difficulty it was like lesson 2 in driving school. So it gives you zero confidence it can handle real havy traffic.
With Auto Speed, you don't have the option to throttle the speed to account for conditions. In version 12.3.6 its left turn lane changes are sometimes squirrelly and it does not slow down when first responders have flashing lights in a lane on the road. In addition, it attempted to change lanes into the lane where the first responders had flashing lights, which caused me to take over. I use FSD all the time, but it is called supervised for a reason. The hard braking on yellow lights is still an issue on 12.3.6.
Gurl you're a tesla employee and it's San Francisco. I tried this in Palm Springs and it nearly killed me.
