Listening to Dan O'Dowd's hysterics makes my teeth hurt. Nice job on addressing and countering the jealousy and political arguments, Omar. I'm more frightened by O'Dowd's claim that his company's product is guiding nuclear weapons than I am about anything pertaining to FSD 12.4.3.

front bumper camera looking left and right might be interesting additions.. the car wouldn't have to creep out as much especially in hard to see intersections. these cameras could only be activated when at stop signs or when pulling out.
I'm one of the first 100 testers and am still on 12.3.6. It's great but I am so behind.

this was really great listening to Dan's concerns and then response from others. No anger or disrespect just open conversations. I think the one thing that Dan and maybe others dont understand is this has never been solved before so it's hard to peg a date and you can think just around the corner and then hit a road block. The other thing is learning curve of the Neural network isn't linear and single update can bring rapid change.
Actually a solid conversation with Dan, I agree with some of his points. He comes across as much more balanced than he does through text on twitter/ X

I don't know why some people think that average driver drive without any mistake for thousands of miles. It's simply not true. People do mistakes all the time. When FSD beat this It's already safer.
Also, you have to admit that as a driver, after 10-15 years of driving you aren't really any better anymore. And when you hit 60-65, your drive quality starts to decrease quite fast. And fsd is getting better and better fast.
Never put malice where incompetence can explain a problem.
I've got 12.4.3 on one of my Model Y's. At least here in Phoenix, 12.3 was way better. Lot's of regressions for Arizona on 12.4.3

Tesla FSD v12.4 is already 5x better than Average human driver.

Mine on 12.3.4 dose the 'get in other lane for turn' at a turn by my house if there is a car coming from behind but the other ways are clear. It seems to be attempting to get out of the way of rear approaching traffic, something I do as a human...
Crazy to think about a time where cars all use all the roadway. Imagine: if there is road to drive on the car will be allowed to use the space. I bet there are lots of areas that traffic congestion could be eased if all of the roadway was allowed to be driven on.
How cool would it be if the cars projected their own lane markings around themselves. The cars could 'communicate' their intentions visually to eachother and save who knows how much money in lane markings. As well roadways could go from 3 lanes one way and 1 the other dynamicly as needed.

Dan talking about him wanting miles between interventions to be in the 10s of thousands of miles yet wants to pull teslas off the road because their “unsafe”, yet tesla needs the cars on the road to train FSD. Dan is talking all sorts of nonsense.
Waymo is a geofenced system that only operates on mapped roadways which is why LIDAR is used. Therefore Waymo cannot drive anywhere. That makes it BS level 4., and limiting. Tesla FSD can drive anywhere, and that’s a huge difference.
The question is when it is out of the geofenced area does it go back down to level 2. Maybe that is not their business plans, they want to make robo taxis. When was the last time, you took an taxis out of the city or to another city?

Waymo has a remote operations center where a remote operator can “guide” the car if it stops or is in a situation it doesn’t know how to deal with. So….. not entirely Level 4.

@@websitemartian tesla is ran through an neutral network we have no ideal what is going on in there either.
I imagine a 5-10x parameter count takes advantage of HW4, but it's yet to be seen how the 5-10x factor translates to miles per intervention. If it's not an exponentially higher mpi, say from 100mpi to 10000mpi, that will not look good for a robotaxi at scale in the near future.
12.3.6 = vapourware it is PSD not FSD...220kms per day..highway 95%...so highway behaviour (intervention is anytime i have to do something FSD should do) is garbage as follows = 100% fail in shitty weather (FSD has a heart attack and immediately fails, driver must take over, reason cameras can't see and die, i can see and continue driving)..return to lane = 100% fail (i must initiate the lane change), on-off ramp = 100% fail (the jarring steering wheel movement is a fail, completely unhuman), pot hole avoidance = 100% fail, move over for vehicles on shoulder = 100%, FSD lane change to pass =50% fail (inconsistent behaviour earlier today one lane change was 31 sec. before pass, next lane change was 10 sec before pass, next pass was speed reduction then lane change 3 sec. before)...this in addition to phantom braking, wipers behaviour that is odd...camera technology is a fail, so easily occuluded..software seems to have brain farts, or delayed recognition or...my interventions are about 50/day...my wife refuses to use based on inconsistent and worrisome and unacceptable behaviour. Tesla is suspect is way better than the rest but i only own a Tesla. i agree Tesla touts FSD and it is simply not that, nor will be for years based on progress to date... streets of LA are goofball silly to touting FSD

silly discussion on why use. PSD...if Tesla offered me a full refund i would take it in a second and wait years until actually FSD (which implies from moment i sit in car until out it drives for me) why do i use daily on work drive..simple i own it and on good weather days when no other cars on road it works as i need it to. but i intervene on an ongoing basis, lucky i know where FSD = fail...for the fluffers failures have been known for years but no fix..why it is either other hardware or software issues/failures keep engineers focused.

There are plans to select more specific destination, like arrivals, departures, level, parking or going to the curb, etc.
FSD doesn't work that way.

I'm not sure why this Space is including Dan O'Dowd. Everyone speaking is engaging honestly, except Dan. Everyone except Dan has no hidden agendas. Everyone except Dan is trying t have an honest conversation about FSD's prospects. Dan is a "dishonest actor". So why is he included in the conversation? And the answer isn't "because of freedom of speech". Dan says that FSD should be turned off on all Teslas. This can result in someone being seriously hurt or killed. This is why Dan's speech is not considered "protected speech". Let's have some transparency regarding the software that Dan's company wants to bring to market and Tesla's FSD is a threat to his software's success, thus the misrepresentations of FSD that Dan makes. Dishonest actors should not be part of these discussions.
He is arguing about wording, but he isn't counting that FSD Beta asked for keeping attention all the time. So it's still official a level 2 system. So the only thing he is arguing about is that, the name is misleading, and Elon said it will drive by itself. But it's a difference between 'will' and 'is' so as 'FSD Beta' level 2 and 'FSD' level 4. I can put a rubber rope on a ford lane keep and do😂 1000 miles on the highway... I wish tesla would have changed the name to be not misleading.
Tesla FSD v12.5 is actually v14, and v12.6 is V15 ........and so on.

It was still moving faster than the cars in the right middle lane and later passed the car it was moving up on. Hardly “garbage” or even remotely unsafe.
