Hi Cody, I enjoy your videos very much, you speak so calmly !! I am seriously thinking about buying the 770qe, not interested in the embroidery. BUT right now I am quilting more then garment stitching and doing home dec but I do like to do many types of sewing. I have the old 440 and really enjoyed working with the 5mm on it. I understand there is a 5mm plate for the 770 and wonder how you feel about it and if it works like a 5mm. I'd like the option of having both sizes! Thank you so much for all you do for all of us!
Hi Cody, I have a Bernia 435 sewning machine. Which I would like to trade in. However I am uncertain which new Bernina to purchase. I only do dress making, a little craftiing. Table mats and baby blanket. I am afraid I do not do quilting. And of course repair work. Any suggestions would be very helpful before I go into Cheltenham in Gloucestershire and take a browse at machines. Thank you for your help. Again the video’s are exceptional.
Thank You for the sweet comment and I am happy you are enjoying the videos. These are my favorite questions. So my first question would be why are you wanting to trade in your 435? Are you looking for something bigger? If so how big? ( I would recommend the 535 or even bigger the 735). The 535 is just about 1 1/2'' (38mm) longer than the 435 but from what you've told me you don't probably need a huge machine. The reason I am not strongly suggesting the 570 even though it does have the dual feed is you don't do quilting. The 570 has the dual feed but it also comes with the BSR (bernina stitch regulator) some dealers will remove the BSR for some customers and reduce the price a little. Also since you are in the UK there might have other options that we don't have here in the US. The 535 will allow you to do embroidery if you care to do so. Hope some of this helps. Now if you are looking for a 9mm stitch width machine then that will be a different story. I love the 9mm it does allow us to move our needle more and stitch larger stitches. If you have anymore questions just let me know I will be more than happy to help. :)
Hi Cody! Thinking of upgrading from my Juki 2200 QVP sit down quilting machine to the Bernina Q20 and I would love your thoughts. I purchased the Bernina 770QE Plus upon your recommendation last year. Love your videos so much and value your opinion.
I’m going to start by saying YES!!!! Bernina has some amazing machines but the Q series (Q16, Q20 and Q24) are incredible machines. For starters the stitch quality is beautiful, the smoothness of quilting and the stitch regulation is outstanding and can’t be beat or found on any other machine like this. And you are able to use all of the free motion style Bernina feet on this machine which is awesome. Also it uses standard sewing machine needles and all of the controls like threading, bobbin wonder and such are all in the front so you can do all of this by sitting right in front of the machine. 🥰. Hope this helps.
You have the BEST sewing videos. Thank you so much from us sewing beginners. I know you mentioned that it’s best to piece with a 5.5mm machine. Why would Bernina make a QE machine but make it a 9mm? My husband helped me buy a 770QE+. Should I have buyers remorse? I bought my machine in Europe, where quilting isn’t as common. Does it make piecing less accurate? Piecing is my favorite part of quilting. I definitely love my dual feed, so I wouldn’t want to give that up and sadly I don’t have the money to own two bernina‘s 😅
Dear Cody. I bought a 770 QE and I don’t like it. I have an older Bernina 1630 and loved it. But the 770 is too picky. The frequent oiling and the upper thread breaking. I just dropped it at the dealer. I’m not happy
Carmen, have you have tried different needle and thread options? While this wouldn’t eliminate your general maintenance complaint, I’ve found Cody’s advice on thread and needles to be superb. I like the microtex or topstitch needles on this machine and have had great success with both Aurafil and Glide thread and no thread breaking. Glide won’t lint, which may help your maintenance concerns. (Mentioning all this for other readers to consider, too … It really is an amazing machine.)
I have the 770QE Plus also and I’m loving it. Still learning all the features. Never I have a treadbreak. Maintenance is easy to do since I found a video from a dealer, telling us that we can drop one drop of oil just on a silver blinking thing, (can’t remember it’s name) just under the needleplate. Yes I agree with you about the maintenance. But, I always had Janome machines, they didn’t need oil at all. During maintenance of my dealer once a year, he did it. However, now I have my first Bernina, I’m sold! They are so much better and stronger than my previous Horizon and S7 of Janome. I will take that maintenance😉 Happy sewing y’all! This sewista greets you and especially Cody (many thanks for your helpful videos) from our beautiful country The Netherlands😉

Hi Cody, I am thinking about getting a Bernina. I am wondering if you think there is a difference in the buttonhole on the B735 vs the B770?
Hi Cody! Another informative video, thank you so much! I am a hummingbird fan and I love the one I’m seeing behind! Is that an available pattern?? 😮
Wonderful so happy you are enjoying the videos 😊😊😊. Yes the humming bird pattern is Tiny Jewel by flying parrot quilts.
@@sewingwithcodyandpete8651 thank you!

I’ve been seeing this same complaint about the 770, too delicate and needy. Gives one pause.

OMGosh I thought it was only me that had these problems with my 770!
Fan of Star Wars? 😅😅
