it's the soundtrack from the first "Highlander" movie, with Christophe Lambert (if you haven't seen the movie, just don't hesitate, but only the first one). There were other little gems from that soundtrack, like "Princes of the Universe" (I'm sure you've heard this one!) or "One year of love", "Kind of magic".
Beautiful sountrack for a wonderful movie. Too bad the following movies sucked but the tv series was good IMO. There are rumors of a Highlander reboot with Henry Cavill (Yes, Superman himself, lol).
No, the sadness has to do with the story of the movie: it's about immortals who have to go on living while watching the ones they love die. "There can be only one", is the mantra of the movie, the immortals have to fight each other for "The Prize".

This is the song that made me fall in love with Queen. I was a huge fan of the Highlander TV show as a teen, and this was one of two songs they played over the most tragic scenes. I had to know who sang it, and then I had to hear everything else they’d ever done. It’s still my favorite song by them to this day.

The song was made for the movie “Highlander” about an immortal who loses the love of his life yet still chooses to go on and do great things. Good movie. I like how in the end it's triumphant: like, 'Fuck it! You're only gonna be around for a short bit of my immortal life, so I'm just gonna have to cram an ETERNITY's worth of love into that short life of yours however I can!'

Thanks for this one. Yes it is very epic in the video, with the orchestra. However, the live version, with only Freddie singling lead and the boys harmonizing is amazing and also captures the greatness of both the song and Freddie's singing. Please react to the live version in Budapest. thanks.

When they recorded this song Freddie sang the first two verses. But he was so sick he couldn’t come back to finish the last verse. So Brian sang the last verse on the recording. But no matter it’s a beautiful song. Well done by all! They’re all extremely talented! Love Queen! No other band can compare to them!

    It’s MacLeod (“ma-cloud”) 😂
My favourite ever song, just because of the build-up (starting with Brian’s softer voice, progressing to Freddie’s powerful voice), the tension, the resolution, the joy, the despair, the depth (with the full orchestra), the perfect guitar solo. It’s completely atmospheric. It’s a masterpiece.

Please listen to the song in it's whole, because here there was a fade out...
Queen's contribution to "Highlander" is legendary! You must see the movie, it's a gem.
The orchestration was by Michael Kamen, who also wrote the instrumenal score for "Highlander".
(Was this really the first time you heared that song..?)

I think this is the best ever song from Freddie & Queen. Especially Brian May as he wrote this song. Roger Taylor was amazing as was John Deacon, playing the cello. Having the orchestra & choir was also a build up. Love, love this formidable song!!!!!!!!

This song always makes me think of my sister who was taken too soon at age 27. She would be 50 years old if she were alive today. I always cry when I hear this song, and it just goes to show you that time doesn't heal your wounds. I miss her every day.

Thanks, Dereck - this is a Brian May song - and he kills it - although Freddie's vocals eclipse Brian's -- I'm a little surprised not to hear the FINAL notes from Freddie: "Who Waits forever, anyway..." look forward to more from you - and most especially a reaction to some of Freddie's work with his great love: opera singer Montserrat Caballe --

In actual fact, this song/video was released in 1986, 5 years before Freddie passed away. He was still healthy and was touring the UK and Europe with Queen around the time this song was released.

“They can be only one!” Highlander!
One of my favorite Queen songs. Also great movie too!
Love the whole soundtrack from this movie.
Another great soundtrack from Queen is the Flash Gordon. That is a really fun album to listen.
Have you ever react to the Japanese band name Scandal? If not you should check this band out! I can give you some suggestions and links for Scandal songs.
Another two other Japanese bands you really should react to is Band-maid and Lovebites.

I was just watching your reaction to Somebody to Love and since that was a year ago I thought perhaps you'd be more l ikely to read comments from this reaction. You remarked about all the drinks on the piano. I've heard so many reactors mention this and since you are the only one that really seems to research the subjects and songs, I wanted to tell you that it was common practice in the US and obviously in the UK as well, for members of the audience to buy drinks for the band and have them delivered to the stage. Of course, the piano is the only place to display these drinks. You will occasionally see Freddy take a sip from one of these cups, but they're not there just for him and he didn't buy them for himself. I guess that practice has fallen out of favor these days, but it was a show of appreciation for the artists. Hope you will impart this information to you're viewers if you do more Queen reactions. Thank you for your reaction videos, they are always informative, as well as just good music.

You need to do more Queen. Barcelona, The Show Must Go On, Mother Love, and A Winter's Tail. The all of these were done during the final few years of Freddies life, as the disease began to totally take over. Also These Are The Days Of Our lives. The final video Freddie made before he died. It is unbelievably stunning.
