Ye... I totally agree nothing and nobody can replace freddie his voice is unmatched from another galaxy and brian is so talented his singing and playing the guitar so special all queen is outstanding ❤
This song has it all. Freddie's ridiculous vocals, Brian on vocals, guitar and keyboard, Roger on drums, John on the stand up bass, a full orchestra and a boys choir. What else could you ask for? Amazing
Written by Brian May for the Highlander movie soundtrack!! Beautiful gorgeous song … the live version is magical. I love the Budapest version! Other songs from the soundtrack are PRINCES OF THE UNIVERSE, ONE YEAR OF LOVE, GIMME THE PRIZE, A KIND OF MAGIC, DON’T LOSE YOUR HEAD ..
Don't forget that Princes Of The Universe was also the theme song for "Highlander The Series". The movies were good but I preferred the TV show. And I'm impressed most people don't even know about Don't Lose Your Head except Highlander fans and diehard Queen fans. Glad to see I'm not the only one!
Thank you for listening to it all through without interruption. This song really is a kind of magic, and one of the best things they have ever done. It is particularly poignant at the moment for me because my mum is in hospital and nearing the end of her life.
Brian May wrote this for the soundtrack of the movie "Highlander" and I believe the orchestration was by Michael Kamen who did the soundtrack. Queen recorded several other songs for the movie, most of which were included on their "A Kind of Magic" album, as well as a solo piano version played by Brian. I love this but there are some powerful live versions that I also love.
I loved Freddie. This song always puts me in mind of the first Highlander movie when his human wife passes of old age, this is the song played. It's very touching in the movie. I still miss Freddie.
Danke für Deine Reaktion auf das Video und den Song. Ich schätze es sehr, dass Du Dir zuerst alles anhörst und anschaust und nicht ständig unterbrichst, viele andere hier tun das. Grüße aus Süddeutschland.
Thank you John for a perfect reaction to this musical masterpiece 😊 I always get goosebumps when watching this video. Live versions of this song are also amazing. ♥️
As perfect as Freddie performs, it's Brian Mays guitar, which always gives me chills. Queen was perfection and was easily the best, modern music can deliver.
Queen - GREAT music in every way. This production/ team work feeds a thirst for grand music I didn't know I had; sight, sound, thought/soul, vitality, more I'm sure, all in one performance. Your reaction - fabulous. Thanks.
Queen could not perform this song live on stage with only 4 (or 5, if Spike joined them on the piano) musicians as they recorded it in the studio version so they modified the presentation while still keeping the essence of the original. As Freddie said, there are always different ways to present a song. Queen often reworked a song for a live version (try comparing the studio version of "Love Of My Life" ruclips.net/video/7hFeER3_ZRQ/видео.html and a live version ruclips.net/video/v3xwCkhmies/видео.html. Their live version of a song was often performed at a faster tempo with a longer instrumental section.
Now that you've heard the original you must go to Marc Martel's version of this in his studio with just his piano. It's on his RUclips channel. His voice sounds just like Freddy's. They actually used Marc's voice in the Bohemian Rhapsody movie. He has his own Queen tribute band and tours internationally. Another must watch is Marc's one-take Bohemian Rhapsody cover with just him and his piano. All Marc's covers are fantastic.
Wow absolutely wow the great Queen love this it's a fabulous song 🎵 and a favourite off mine ❤ Freddie voice is outstanding a great 👍 performance from the great Queen loved it ❤ ♥ 🎤🎸👍thanks John absolutely fantastic much love and godless from UK 🇬🇧 barb ❤ ♥ 🙏 👍 ⭐⭐⭐🙏❤🙏
The first time i heard this. Song was whilst watching Highlander, the film the song was written for and i cried and cried, i was only about 14 amd the combination of the scenes it covered, with the beauty of the song were just heartbreaking
Danke, dass du wieder ein Queen-Video gemacht hast 🥰. Obwohl ich Elvis natürlich auch großartig finde! Tolles Video, toller Song - live noch emotionaler als in der Studioversion.
This song was specially made for the movie Highlander. I highly recommend it see the first one and then see the other ones that were made afterwards also they use Queen music for the television series Highlander. Just a suggestion.
You NEED to hear it in context...watch Highlander 🙏 I heard it at Wembley in 86 when they first played it to the public. Watching the film it was written for though...it will bring you to tears
Waooo!!!....Congratulations my friend John!! ...I want invite you to give us your opinion, like musician, reacting to who is considered the best singer of the world...His name is Dimash Kudaibergen, a young singer who handle 7 octaves and 3 semitones of vocal range (An alien)...He has been singing since he was 5 years (he is 28 now) and he can sing in more than 15 languages...But if you decide to react to Dimash for the first time, please don't do it with his most recent songs ... I recommend that you go to the year 2017 and react to the song that made him a global idol ... I mean the performance he did of the famous French song called "SOS D'un Terrien en Détresse", when he participated in the famous Chinese reality show The Singer in that year 2017 ... With that performance Dimash earned the reputation of being the best singer on the planet, so I recommend you start with that one...You have to be prepared because you are likely to receive a flood of views, comments and new subscribers....And I have to give you a warning: Never react to The World Best videos, because they deceived him and treated him very badly.!...I hope to see you first reaction soon and if you don't mind, I'd like you to mention me as the person who recommended reacting to Dimash....Here you have the best high quality video of Dimash performing S.O.S. Live 2017.....ruclips.net/video/bDX3FhmyNac/видео.html
John…just subscribed to your channel and noticed you don’t have any YES! Steve Howe is one of our most versatile, premier guitarist of the last 50+ years. Start with Roundabout on the Fragile album. Do ANY song from The Yes Album, Fragile, Close to the Edge and hear what prog rock sounded like in the early 70’s. You will be amazed!
Probably won't see tis but regardless I'd like /love to see your take on Freddie Mercury & Opeta singer Montserrat Caballe "How Can I Go On...or "Barcelona " thanks and 🙏
Who wants to live forever? The highlander of the movie by the same name did not want to live forever because his lover grew old and died and the Highlander was left a widow. To go on living with9ut his love. It’s hard to believe Brian wrote this and here we see him playing I think two different organs. But if he wrote it, he wrote the childrens choir parts and the orchestration too. Queens 4 members all had more than 1 number one hits. They all had bachelor degrees.in clouding John Deacon who had an electrical degree that on bohemian rhapsody and this song could have put the vocals and instruments into whatever amps, Leslie’s for keyboards when technology wasn’t there yet. Deacon wrote another one bites the dust which started with his weird bass notes and the other weird sounds I believe came from Brian’s red guitar that he and his father made when he was a young man and had no money to afford that guitar. That was so long ago that people warned him not to take it on tour but I believe it’s still apart of the band. Could this guitar be over 50 years old.
Another example of Queen’s versatility. They could do (and did) any style of music. So glad you’re enjoying the music of my youth! You say Wow a lot when reacting to Queen! 😄
This is my favorite . Check Ininnuendo from the same album. This will blew you away. And Who Wants to live forever was written by dr Brian May. Dr because this genius holds phd in Astrophysic
I love that track, from hearing it in Highlander for the first time - and at weekly ever since - I'd like to know what you make of this one - TBH - It still makes me cry! ruclips.net/video/oB4K0scMysc/видео.html
@@christinecarter7800 No worries Christine.I've heard this song many times before but it was the first time watching the music video for me. Have a good day!
I can listen to queen all day and never get tired of them
Same😢❤
I do everyday can t get enough !!
No other band gives me goosebumps like each of them😂
Me too, it's like a drug
Me too also

timeless song
John actually doesn't play any instrument on this song. The upright bass was used only for video
I believe John did learn to play the upright double bass.
i believe they hired queen to do all the music for highlander
This is musical perfection.
VERITAS

This is from the movie Highlander and it will break your heart watching the scene this plays through
Queen rarely used an orchestra. They depended solely on themselves. This was for the movie "Highlander", so they went all out. Awesome!
If you haven't already, you really ought to compare this to the 'stripped down' live-version, Wembley or Budapest.
Budapest - expand the concert realm.
I will check it out!
Wembley is great, but to me there's something extra in the Budapest performance
I personally love the Budapest performance! There is that something extra special in that particular show.
when Freddie comes on stage and start singing i have chills everytime.
No matter how mamy times i hear this song, my reaction is always the same as yours ❤
❤️😊

the opening chord might be the most beautiful thing in this song lol
Fabulous Freddie Forever Loved. .

❤Wow indeed.
Que cancio'n , mas Realista y sublime.Una voz, celestial Freddie , Tu'si Eres Inmortal.
This was conducted by Brian May, wrote the song too. Just sensational. Love Freddie as always. Roger Daltry & John Deacon were also sensational. 💖💖💖💖💖
Michael Kamen: conductor/arranger.

It really is one of the best, but falls under the radar because of such massive mainstream greats. Thank you Highlander for the inspiration.
