I died on November 25th, 2018. The doctors gave me a 6% of making it through the night. I was in the hospital for 3 weeks. Everytime I hear this song it gives me goosebumps. Why? Not because I want to live forever. But because I know the secret of life. It's all about the Beauty we leave behind. And Freddie has done that for us over and over 🥰

I often think, when I see Freddie sing, that he is pulling that amazing voice out of every cell in his body. You see him rise on his toes, clench his fists, his muscles tensing, as you sense him pulling those notes out from deep inside himself. It's beautiful to hear and amazing to see.

    • @mnomadvfx

In a world of literally billions its rubbish to claim that no one could match him.
The simple fact is that not everyone with the right physical traits to be a great singer has either the desire or ambition to use them as such - or even the opportunity for those born in less fortunate circumstances.
Had Freddie's family never emigrated to the UK he likely would have amounted to nothing in his home country - or worse persecuted for his sexuality.

He was here for a very specific reason. Love. To bring people together with his music. His voice touches my soul in ways i can't explain. Freddie was blessed with enormous talent. And limited time on earth to accomplish his task. Freddie succeeded and has left a legendary mark on the world.

Freddie's amazing , "otherworldly" voice was actually studied. He had a fabulous range, of course, & vocal strength high in his register. He was able to produce faster vibrato & harmonics than any other singer at the time. He also used subharmonics by vibrating his ventricular folds. That's a technique used by Tuvan (Mongolian) throat singers who can produce 2 or 3 tones at the same time. To hear that fascinating sound, Google Huun Huur Tu & listen. I saw this wonderful group in concert many years ago.

Actually it has been covered a lot, and well, but of course the original artist stands above all others.
Is this a love song? Is it a lament? Is it a statement of eternal devotion? Is it hopeful, or fatalistic?
It seems to be all of these things at once -- beautiful, bittersweet, a vocal triumph of emotion.

This is such a powerful song live, written by Brian for the Queen soundtrack for the movie Highlander. I think your words echo those of the Queen Army, I believe that all of us see this band and Freddie in that light. Freddie is a one off to be sure but he couldn't do this without the skill and support of his bandmates, and he knew it. His solo stuff was good but it really didn't sell well until after his death. Queen is a band where the total of the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. Queen is what it is because each member had ultimate belief in themselves and as a group. Great reaction, thank you.

Definitely need to start a QUEEN playlist. That will fill quickly. The official video of this is also worth watching. Another song from the Highlander movie is Princes of the Universe.
Outside of Queen was Freddie’s collaboration with Spanish opera singer Montserrat Caballe. Wrote the Album for them. Barcelona (intended for the 1992 Olympics), How Can I go on and Golden Boy.

There will just never… ever… be another Freddie!! His voice, his presence.. Brian’s composition and guitar.. wow! If you should want an interesting comparison.. consider watching Brian and Roger singing/playing this same song with Adam Lambert singing.. the version done in 2016 the day after the Pulse Nightclub massacre. Adam’s delivery of the song that night was something to behold… no comparison to Freddie, as Adam has never tried to mimic or compare himself in that way.. he knows Freddie is untouchable.. and says so often. The song is just beautifully done by them both!! Great reaction.. it’s so powerful.. it often brings a tear for me too - and I’ve heard it a hundred times!!

Queen scored two movies--this song was from Highlander. The other movie was Flash (as in Flash Gordon). Now go watch Freddie take over the world over at the Live Aid Concert. Best live performance, ever!

Thank you so much SalvoG. From your other reactions to the diverse music you select, I thought you might immediately connect to this song. In my opinion, this is a masterpiece written by Brian May...the lyrics and orchestration are indescribable....Brian's guitar is literally singing his emotions...John's bass and Roger's drums are exactly what the song demands... and Freddie is throwing every ounce of his being into the air - I agree with you that his voice is otherworldly. Queen's performance of this song in the studio or on stage is a treasure that needs to be shared for all time. Your channel helps with that Salvo - not only with this reaction but in your other reactions as well. For those of us who were fortunate enough to have our everyday lives interwoven with all the magical music of the 70s, 80s, 90s and beyond, THANK YOU.

THAT voice. And the other three pretty special also. That these four musicians found each other. How lucky are we.

I love how Queen speaks to your soul. You have one of those souls that really hears the spirit within the music. Freddie had that ability. He was pure genius. The entire band was pure genius.

Great job! I agree supernatural-magical when these men found each other and made gorgeous music that only Freddie could pull from the universe!

There's nothing that compares to watching Queen live, and I am so grateful that we have so many HQ vids of Queen...but I would recommend checking out the music video for this song at some point. You get to hear Brian sing, there's a choir and an orchestra...that combined with Freddie's always amazing vocals really elevate this song to one of my favorite Queen songs.

This is one of those songs that really has to be experienced through the live performance(s) AND the studio version. The live versions are indisputably incredible, but that opinion requires no persuasion, since here it is.
But you must see what they did with the official version. It’s just jaw dropping, spectacularly well arranged and accompanied, and almost unmatched in demonstrating the clarity, raw power, and beauty of Mercury’s voice. It’s unforgettable.

'Otherworldly' is the only way I can describe Freddie's incredible voice, talent, and presence. 💫🙏💖 Thank you for a beautiful and heartfelt reaction to this incredible performance. ❤ ETA: I think the full scope of Freddie's extraordinary talent, as well as who he was as a human being, is only just beginning to be fully appreciated, in part, thanks to YT and all the amazing performance videos and interviews that are coming back to life here. 🙏❤

I highly recommend you do a reaction for Queen’s performance at Live Aid, it’s considered to be the best live performance to be filmed. The bands energy is incredible, Freddie not only blows the mind of everyone who sees but his connection to the audience is like nothing you have ever seen. He had them under his spell from the moment they took that stage.

    Hey SalvoG...
What a touching reaction to such a hauntingly beautiful piece of musicianship from Sir Brian May... I thoroughly understand the emotions everyone feels when they experience this masterpiece.. that's why I refer to Queen as the "Master Manipulators of Emotions", nobody could infuse passion into their music any better... which is why I would like to take this opportunity to share another piece of artistry from the same genius that brought you this song...
    ruclips.net/video/mBGTlt8-Pt4/видео.html
This is a little (actually the entire soundtrack) snippet of beauty, albeit a little dark and foreboding which is unusual for Queen, from a French movie about love lost during wartime... written over 20 years ago... and only recently discovered, can't help but wonder how many other unbelievably exquisite masterpieces are out there that we haven't heard of, only God knows...
Love your channel immensely, please keep up the good work of spreading Queen's love of life and artistry to more generations to come... blessings.
