I think it sums up how a lot of people think about pirates today.
Pirates were thieves and some were wicked men. However, they were also egalitarian, democratic, and fought for fair wages. This was revolutionary for the time and makes you wonder what could have been if they were fighting for more than wealth.

There’s such a heaviness to it. You can tell that he got what he wanted, but it’s nowhere near what he expected. Losing all he cared about, watching all that slip away for the sake of some reales and a reputation as one of the most vicious pirates to ever sail the seven seas. It destroyed him, ripped him to shreds bit by bit.
Then he sails with his daughter. It’s almost as if that single event saved what was left of him.
Edward was finally broken in the end. And yet, his daughter glued all the jagged pieces back together.
It’s insane that a fictional character from a video game can force such raw emotion out of us.
I felt for him. Almost grieved with him. But he never existed. Because his story never happened.
There is also a sadness in that it seems…

Same. He watched his friends either die, go insane, change allegiances. Not to mention his greed. But eventually he gets a change of heart and begins to set things right.
The part in the end when he remembers all his friends is the saddest part for me.
