    I am a Former Kansas football player and stopped playing sometime in 2017. After all my years of going through sports and lifting and being involved in athletics, I am JUST NOW at the age of 28 actually able to hear my body and had to learn how to correct YEARS of improper/inefficient lifting. Trying to restart my football career but I have SOOOO many issues from when I was younger and deep tissue muscles that are so stiff that I can't get past certain points of pain and tightness. I fight with it everyday but my advice would be to make sure you guys are learning your body and learning every aspect of the technique in your lifts so you don't end up like me!! The weight will go up but making sure that technique is superb will make so much more of a difference. These videos help me so much with getting back into my journey. Thank you squat University!!

    I highly suggest anyone experiencing this same problem to start doing dead bugs, bridges, swimmers, supermans, and push ups (keeping your hips on the ground but extending your spine). You will see significant results in a couple weeks. Your body is just too used to being in a flex position with poor posture over the years. It needs more extension. Your back muscles and glutes are elongated and weak, while your front side (abs and hip flexors) are short and also weak. Don’t stretch. You need to strengthen them to get them back to normal. Stretching makes the problem worse. Good luck.

      It is not entirely bs. Its just that instead of 1 book about manipulation they separated the knowledge in 3 different things for no reason. The root of all this is in osteopathy and further back it is called medical manipulation or something like that. There are only 2 schools, the French school and the british school. It might not feel comfortable. But it literally is the required movement for safety. And you can only hide it so long before you snap something. Most likely a disc herniation at the L-4 L5 levels. It might not happen at 3 plates 4 plates or even 5 plates. But it’ll happen. So make sure that you tighten up your form. That hinge needs to be perfect unless you want to have sciatic nerve pressure and learn it the hard way. Chances are you already HAVE a herniated disc or bulging disc but are just asymptomatic at the moment.

    • @svenvanderzwaag1012

    • @nriv9338
      @nriv9338 2 года назад +2

      Studies have shown that the spine flexes well out of the neutral range with exercises like good morning and squats. Even when people think they’re keeping a “neutral” spine the lumbar spine still flexes quite significantly. Barbell medicine covers the topic pretty well.

      Pops and cracks can sound scary, but it's like any joint pop, and is most likely harmless. The odds of a spontaneous herniation occuring during a deadlift is statistically very small so the reason you're likely feeling pain is the subconscious psychological fear associated with anything happening in or around the spine. You can try massage and hot/cold packs, but it's discouraged to get any kind of imaging done as the possibility for false positive findings are high and the cost of imaging is high. Try gradually reintroducing movements and activities as tolerated and progress as needed.

    • @Parker_Miller_M.S.
      @Parker_Miller_M.S. 2 года назад

      @I Voted For Biden And Love Abortion risk of injury isn't any lower for a trap bar. Not using ones back is a sure fire way to nocebo someone into thinking their spine is fragile and not preparing their spine to handle load in a variety of positions. More load in different positions provides greater overall resiliency to the spine.

      Look up McKenzie exercises. Try not to bend forward only stretch with your spin going backwards. Do cobra pose from yoga ! Or sphinx pose for a warm up about 6-10 sets of 20-30 seconds. Or do reps..... if your legs give out or it hurts to cough you might have a herniated disk

      @@qendrimsmelaj6063 Mackenzie technique, McGill's big 3, don't have any special benefits to them other than just trying to get people to move. Most back pain is nonspecific so it takes overcoming a fear of movement that one most strongly associates with pain which is likely bending over and flexing the spine. Herniated discs also heal on their own with time and most people have at least 1 which are asymptomatic and not dangerous. But yes if one loses bladder or bowel function or there's a significant motor deficit between sides that's cause for seeing a doctor right away as that could be cuada equina syndrome

      The calfs are ankle extenders. If you are being stretched there, then my guess is you either have a whole lot of tightness there, or your don't have the weight balanced directly over the middle of the foot. If the weight (and thus your centre of balance) goes forward, then you'll have to dig your toes into the ground, or push away with your toes to keep from falling forward. This would of course use your calf muscles and stretch them a bit.
