This was good, it was very nice to hear you say that your real love was the photography not like some others who sometimes seem to use it to pay for their love of hiking. Last picture was superb.
Thank you so much John! And yes - like I said I definitely wouldn't be out there as much if it wasn't for the photography - and the film making for that matter
If your voice skips because you talk so enthusiastically about your passion, then you should be fine! And that, Henry, is what you give us. Each video provides a wealth of information and shows beautiful nature. Also for this video: thank you!
Beautiful images Henry. Nothing beats a waterfall photo. I'm like you I love that silky smooth cascade. So much fun but also so relaxing just to sit and listen to the water. Can't wait for the next.
Another great video Henry, glad your back in the lakes. The third image was my own favourite, I think the colour in the sky gave it that bit extra. Thanks
What a cracking video and final photo. The first Lake District walk I ever did (30+ years ago) was up out of Haweswater and this brought back very happy memories. You have such enthusiasm for what you're doing, please keep it up - we get so much pleasure out of watching it.
Hi,Henry, this video was heaven to me i love water falls and coined with the beautiful landscape it was perfect. Love all your pictures you took. Definitely my favourite video of the year. Thanks Henry.
Stunning photos here, especially that last one. Keep these videos coming. Only found your page today but i must have seen about 4 or 5 videos now and they are all superb!
Overcast day, but you managed to pull out topside images, last w/a bit of light in sky my fav. Cool how your shirt matched green foliage. Learned a new Brit work “beck” (I think😁.) Almost lost your tripod there for a moment - nice catch.
Thank you Henry, a wonderful video thank you for your wonderful enthusiasm. The last image was lovely the way the stream lead the eye through the scene.
Yep that last image - sweeeeet!! But I was hooked when you pulled the car over!! And to see the kid in the sweety shop @ 8:50 - 😂🤣 your enthusiasm is infectious - coupled with your immense skill. Thanks Henry 🙂👍📷👌
One of my favourite places, Henry, so it was great to see you visit here. It’s funny, just as I saw this video, a Facebook memory popped up on my timeline from 9 years ago, a photo of this exact location. It’s safe to say my photo wasn’t class like yours but quite the coincidence! Another great video, thank you.
Thank you so much Ian and Cheers for leaving a comment :-) it’s definitely a fantastic area and I’ll definitely be back to explore a little more, it feels like there is a lot of opportunity there! That’s a funny coincidence that that photograph of yours popped up! Thanks again Ian, much appreciated :-)
The last shot was the best. The smoothing out of tbe sky makes a nice contrast to tne roughness of the rocks. I was in the Lake District last week and water was flowing everywhere. I use vintage lenses. My most commonly used lens is a Zeiss Contax mount Distagon 28mm. In sunny conditions that lens has spectacular colour. In duller conditions similar to what you were shooting in, I have other lenses that work really well. Very old lenses from the 1950s have less coating and less contrast and often this is beneficial. They also have less elements so the image is kept purer. Tonal shading is better. Modern lenses have way more elements to try to improve on intrinsic problems that all lenses have but I think the images look much flatter. Of course you need a camera with short flange distance like a mirrorless to be able to adapt any lens but it's great to be able use all the old lenses.
The last picture is surely the most evocative although the lower part of the waterfall is hidden, but we cannot have everything every time. Concerning filters, as already stated I agree with the GND although I noticed that is a sort of current fashion to abandon squared filters for rounded ones. I disagree, I love squared filters because they give me the opportunity to take them on and off very easily by putting on and off the holder altogether and still have the polarizer on the lens (if you need it, at least with the Formatt Hitech system I use is like that).
That last image was definitely the best of the day Henry. I noticed your Tokina 11 to 16 mm wide angle and was toying with the idea of getting one, but eventually settled on a 10 to 18mm Canon, which incidentally, I was trying out in Morecambe Bay at the very same time you were out making this video. Shame my pics are not anywhere near as good. But “if at first”as they say.
Just a suggestion Henry. Could you perhaps do a video which explains your thought's process on how you decide where to go & shoot, such as just this one location out of hundreds of locations in the Lakes, & if you use apps to help with that decision what apps do you use & a demo on how you use those apps.
It’s been a while until my last comment. I agree, the third composition is beautiful with the sunset colors. Will it be on 2021 calendar? Whatever I already order one. 😉
I've never understood nd grads i got rid after learning bracketing i think there only useful now for putting my coffee cup on 👍 i was there last night got a bit annoyed by the rubbish around but a mega part of the lakes .great shot at the end there henry .
Thanks for the comment Paul, yes just personal preference regarding the ND Grads! Unfortunately there does seem to be a lot more rubbish kicking about than usual :(
Cracking vid Henry, as I've said before your enthusiasm is infectious and you make photography seem easy. I always feel like I want to go out and into the hills of just walk like forever after watching one of your vids, keep em coming mate 👍
Hi 2 Cracking photos and the video was brilliant to. well you just put a photo in my head that i now wont to take all i have to do is find it, what an inspiration you have just done for me. If i can not find it ill be asking you to join in my search.BIG Thank you Henry....
Stunning location with cracking images Henry. Love waterfalls just small ones in Gloucestershire quit a few weirs. Thank you for sharing and take care.
If you could bottle the oozing of your enthusiasm Henry, you would be quids in, it really is very much in evidence throughout your vlog. Very nice collection of images from the day too, especially loved the final image
Love the enthusiasm, that image at around 13.00 is stunning, really tells the story great job. As for being out I agree if it was not for photography I would be out a lot less thats for sure. Thanks for sharing mate.
Some fine images there Henry from a great location in the lakes (you are on Chris Sale's patch there) ...... A few years back the wife and I did that very same walk from that car park up through the becks ... we made it to High Street but when the cloud came down we got completely disorientated ... trying to find the way back to the car we stopped a fell runner with a gps device and we found we were walking in the completely opposite direction .. bloody hell ....
Enjoyed this one Henry. Excellent video. Nice shots too, particularly the last one. With regard to the shutter speed for a waterfall, I have gone through a bit of a journey; I used to always go for the classic milky blur that looks good as art, but now I prefer less, as my desire is to capture as close as possible the actual view I saw there that day. Doesn't mean I don't appreciate the blurred effect created by others, it's just that it's not my project in my pursuit of realism. 🙂 (Same reason I'm not into post replacement skies, etc). Already looking forward to your next upload. 👍
Love watching your channel never tried landscape photography so me and my partner have booked a few days away in August in the lakes. Keep up your great work. Will be ordering the Callander in next few weeks
Hi Henry I live in the south, and often come up to the lakes, so to visit family Am I right in saying that Wast Water is the deepest Lake and has the smallest Church? Out
Great images Henry. Very entertaining as always. Possibly could have made something of the rotation of water ( bottom right of frame @ 5:19 ) which could have worked well with your three second exposure )
@@HenryTurnerphoto I'm just starting out, going to try and get out ont Fells as much as I can when kids go back to school. Be class to head out with you at some point.👍🏼
Brilliant video again. I don’t know anything about photography but love the lakes so love watching these vidoes 👌🏻. Also bit of a random question. Would you ever think about getting a dog as a sort of companion to take on these walks with you? 😂
A great 15 minutes. You clearly enjoyed that. Beautiful grand vista with the final image. I had to laugh half way way through. That gate was massive and if it wasn't for you using it, it could have been a standard chest high gate. Talk about deceiving.
When you are videoing yourself say walking up a mountain path or just getting out of your car as in this video do you have someone else along with you doing the videoing or are you setting up another camera & videoing yourself? I am never sure as it seems to me to video yourself you must be doing an awful lot of walking backwards & forwards to pick up your videoing gear, moving on to the next location & then removing the bit of film where it shows you returning back to pick up your gear.
So ice photography I like landscape photography. I am going to buy a canon camera with wide angle and and 75-300 lenses.polarizor and nd 6 stop.Could you plz check my pictures and give me some tips for better landscape photography. Thank you Ghulam Rasool Hashtnaghar. Peahawar, pakistan.

Thank you so much John! And yes - like I said I definitely wouldn't be out there as much if it wasn't for the photography - and the film making for that matter
Nice photos!! Last time I went to Haweswater it was really low and exposed on the old village which was flooded when the reservoir was built.
Thank you Chris yes that's something that's so interesting about that area!
If your voice skips because you talk so enthusiastically about your passion, then you should be fine! And that, Henry, is what you give us. Each video provides a wealth of information and shows beautiful nature. Also for this video: thank you!

Thanks so much for the comment
Great shot. Waterfall leading around to the lake. And there is that rock wall again. 😉😇
Cheers Clinton
Beautiful images Henry. Nothing beats a waterfall photo. I'm like you I love that silky smooth cascade. So much fun but also so relaxing just to sit and listen to the water. Can't wait for the next.
Many thanks, yes I need to shoot more waterfalls!
Just great being out with the camera in the open spaces and seeing someone happy doing their work. Great photos. 👍🙂
Couldn't agree more, thanks Mark!

Always alone Paul and yes just a lot of extra walking!
