    Sandy Denny sings the lines "Sing as you raise your bow \ Shoot straighter than before \ Oh dance in the dark of night \ Sing to the morning light" for which LZ gave her own rune symbol in the album liner notes. Her singing voice is one of the purest you'll ever hear, so be sure to check out her work with Fairport Convention as soon as you can -- "Who Knows Where the Time Goes?", "Farewell, Farewell", "The Ballad Of Easy Rider", and "She Moves Through The Fair" among others.

    Sandy Denny, who sings with Robert Plant on this track, was amazing .... I saw her with Fairport Convention way back in the 70s ... she was superb. She suffered from depression and was found unconscious at the foot of the stairs which led to her going into a coma. Sadly, that was the end of her. But what a great singer. You should listen to “Matty Groves” from the “Liege & Lief” album. She was a great English folk singer. Intriguingly, “Matty Groves” begins with a visit to the church which leads to an extra marital affair and ends with a double honour killing. Good gosh!! 😳

    Having never played a mandolin before, Jimmy Page picked it up and just started playing. Plant put lyrics to it, and the song was written in one sitting. That is the magic, the wonder, and the mystery that is Zep, and why they were THE band of the 70s. No one touched them.

    THANK YOU FOR DOING THIS SONG - it doesn't appear often in reactions. It is so beautiful. You've done so much LZ - as a fan I appreciate it. I don't think you've reacted to anything from the reunion concert in 2007. After John Bonham - the drummer died in 1980, the band would not go forward without him and disbanded. 27 years later the surviving members got together with Bonham's son Jason on drums (a great drummer himself) for a one night tribute concert to the head of Atlantic records (their label) who died. There were less than 20,000 seats available and OVER 20 MILLION ticket requests - the power of Led Zeppelin! The concert is amazing and they are just as tight, masterful and in the groove as they were 1968-1980. Please check out something from that concert - here are some links to things you haven't reacted to yet - In My Time of Dying ruclips.net/video/0VqqM_1j6Sc/видео.html OR Nobody's Fault But Mine ruclips.net/video/9Sqiazeu7MI/видео.html OR No Quarter (I think you reacted to Tool's version but LZ is the original)ruclips.net/video/r7fMMcPByig/видео.html

      I just looked at your page cuz I was kind of surprised about your love for a really obscure Led Zeppelin song so I had to see this girl play guitar something and what do I see a page dedicated to Led Zeppelin my home is dedicated to Jimmy Page and Led Zeppelin my guitar playing. They've been my favorite band since I first heard them and started playing guitar in like 1990. I was 14. So you don't even have to ask yes I will marry you you just plan it and I'll be there I don't even give a s*** if that's not really you in the Avatar. Just as long as you're not a dude lol my avatar picture is just a screen grab of me playing going to California. And no I don't normally always wear a headband I had it on earlier outside work doing some stuff in the yard. LOL just feel like I need to put that disclaimer I'm usually a pretty normal-looking dude things like headbands and fedoras and s*** send douchebag signals so I wanted to clarify a douchebag I am not.

    The harmony vocal is by the late singer/songwriter Sandy Denny. She performed with a number of bands - most notably Fairport Convention - and recorded solo albums as well. No one seems to have reacted to any of the early Fairport Convention songs - one of the most influential British bands of their era. To start off with FC, I would recommend the original album recordings of these two songs:

    Fairport Convention - Who Knows Where The Time Goes?

  • @budmaynard5952
    @budmaynard5952 3 года назад +1

    Absolutely love this song! The main instrument you hear is a mandolin en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mandolin , but there is acoustic guitar playing, as well. Jimmy Page wrote the music in one sitting when he picked up John Paul Jones' mandolin and started playing it, when they were sequestered at Headley Grange in southern England working on their fourth album. Robert Plant wrote the lyrics, having recently read Tolkien's "Lord of the Rings" trilogy which inspired a number of LZ songs. Also, this is the only LZ song to feature a guest singer, Sandy Denny, of the British folk-rock band Fairport Convention. I don't have a good name for this sub-genre but it has elements of folk and medieval music. If you liked this, try LZ's "Going to California" or Heart's "Sylvan Song" which segues into "Dream of the Archer" (treat them as one song) or anything off Jethro Tull's "Songs from the Wood" or "Heavy Horses" albums. THanks for listening and sharing!
    Peace from SF
