I have no idea why anyone would be offensive in their comments. All you’re doing is sharing your experiences. Also I think your right. The Canon RF 50mm 1.8 is incredible and a super sharp lens, it’s got a updated planar design like classic Zeiss lenses so it’s never going to have that clean modern look like the sigma or canon. That said I have had the RF 50mm 1.2 for 3 years and still choose the 1.8 for some jobs if I want a more “busy” background in the shot for interest.
No rude comments here! It's an amazing lens, without a doubt. The RF 85 1.2 might interest you, too. It's very similar, but produces extra bokehliciousness!
I have thought about that one for years! But I shoot with my 100mm so much. I am pretty sure that I would fall in love with the 85mm as well, but man I don't know that I can justify that price. 😬 My 100 does the job.
Finally got some test shots today.OMG how sharp is it it’s insane.Even for a prime it’s crazy sharp.Really looking forward to doing a shoot sometime soon.
3:05 omg same actual reaction when I owned this lens for about a month. I never thought I would be so much in love with the lens. Now its my most used lens for over a year and a half. It is definitely a joy to use. You said you loved rf 100mm. I would want that one too but will wait when canon release the 135mm for RF. If you tried 135mm in EF before, you’ll sure know why I would want that in native RF :)
Great video... Question - how do you get around the 1/8000 max shutter speed, when shooting wide open at F1.2? In daylight my RF50mm f1.8 often clips at 1/8000!! the only solution is to increase the aperture a stop or two f2.8 f3.2 etc... But I don't want to! If I lower the ISO to 50 - it just blows out the highlights, looks yuk! (Street photography on an R6 with face/eye tracking is so easy, an amazing camera for speed/accuracy, except for the 1/8000 limit!!!). On my Fujifilm X-T3 it can shoot up to 1/32,000 - I wish canon had this feature...
Buy an ND filter for it. Neutral density filters, especially not-variable ones don't hurt the quality very much and take away a few stops of light. Should help with the shutter speeds easily.
Great video! I've been debating on this lens. It's so hard to not be affected by negativity. Try not to let it get to you. Your doing great. Not everyone's going to agree with someone.
Hi Ashley I've been wandering if a RF 50mm f/1.2 lens is capable of taking group photo (6-7 people) with decent depth of field at f/2 or f/2.8. For group photos I use RF 24-70mm f/2.8 at f/4 and everyone looks decently sharp and in focus. It would help lower the ISO and flash power if the RF 50 f/1.2 takes good group shots stopped down to f/2 or at least f/2.8. Thanks in advance.
I really just depends on how far away from your subject you are. I most definitely use my 50mm at f2 for family shots. The closer you are to your subject , the smaller your depth of view is. So if you are not super close up, then it will work.
such a great video with sample photos you've taken. i love review with actual photos taken. I was heavily debating the rf85 or the rf50 for quite a while. I know rf50 is a better range to use for my style but the rf85 is kinda cheating and bokeh everything (I know a beginner stage and trend). i ended up with the rf85 and regretted it's size, it's so massive. but used it exclusively for my family photos for last 4 months and love it; I'll add a rf50 to my lineup one day or if the 135mm comes out. I have the macro rf100 but i use it for my aquarium photography, only used it a few times on my chidren. I must say i do love the 100 mm range over the 85mm range to be honest for my style. can't wait to see your review on the rf100. keep up the great work!
During most sit down video, shoot your pretty much like focusing turn off the auto focus because you don’t wanna hunting so the noise shouldn’t be an issue if you’re doing a sit down.
@@LavishGracePhotography thank you 😊 I always leaned towards wide aperture prime lenses for they dreamy look but recently after seeing so many reviews saying good things about 28-70 rendering character, micro contrast etc I start to think maybe I should buy this lens instead of 50 prime but coming across your channel I realise that they are people like me out there which want “more” and still go for primes 😁
@@Tomek1Oko this really comes down to the type of photography you do. I carry a 70-200, 28-70, 16-35 for photojournalism. I have used the 28-70 for street photography, but I find myself gravitating to my 85 and 70-200. Take into consideration what you shoot. I don't shoot weddings, but I can imagine a zoom on 1 camera would be helpful.
I do not still have the 28-70, so I can't do a comparison video. But I can tell you that I chose the 50mm 1.2 over the 28-70 f2. It is a great lens, but wasn't great enough for me to give up my prime ways. Lol the 50 1.2 is just amazing!!!

I absolutly agree. The 50mm is awesome. Thanks for the video!!

The sigma is still solid. ❤ thank you for the video review
Looking forward to a video of your RF 100mm Macro impressions. I own it, also, but would be interested in seeing the portraits you produce with it.
Great video got this lens yesterday and havent used it yet.Im super exited to shoot with it soon.

I have the ef 135mm. I wanted to love it! But it never captured my heart like my 100mm.
Nice. I own a RF 100 for macro. I am interested in your RF 100 portraits shoot.

Wait til you get the rf 28 to 70 f2. That one with my 50 f1.2 had me in love
I tried that one!! But ended up getting the 50 instead. It just didn't fit my style as much.
You are doing great. Thank you for sharing your knowledge.

I just ordered one!!! I'm honestly excited!!!

So is it 50mm or 28-70?
Good job!!
Great video
Will you choose 50 1.2 or 28-70 with r6? I’m about to order and still deciding between these two…
50mm all day for me! I rented the 28-70 and it's an amazing lens, but it didn't fit my style.

People buy expensive sharp lenses to get a blurry background😂
Can we see them?
Don't ever put the RF 85 1.2 on your camera. You will hate it. :)
😬😁
Sigma make RF Lens this year
Yay!! I can't wait to try them!
I hope this comes true
Pretty sure canon recently put a stop to all 3rd party rf lenses
Can you do quick compare vs 28-70?
