Excellent, Dr. Brown. Ezekiel 40-48 is the toughest section for any covenant theology to tackle, but dispensational approaches have no problem resolving the issue. I personally look to the ministry of Jesus during his time on earth. The complaint was that his disciples never fasted, and Jesus said it was because he was with them. When Jesus returns the sacrifices, I speculate, will be fellowship offerings that the priests will share among themselves and with the people. In other words, Ezekiel's Temple and sacrifices will be the millennial equivalent of God's Longhorns Steakhouse. What a day that will be!

Every time the word(s) sin offering is used in those 9 chapters, it is used as consecration of items in the temple, never for atonement of sins for a person. It is a really cool word study and context study.

Ezekiel’s temple description is a real problem for the coming millennium position. Ezekiel reiterates that among all the other rules, the only person allowed into the holy of holies will be a genuine Levite. That excludes Jesus. I guess I’ll be back in the cheap seats with him.

All I see is absolutely radical acrobatics. Wait, Jesus was the ultimate sacrifice, but not like the last sacrifice, we just mean that all the other sacrifices will point to his. Well, none of the sacrifices in the Hebrew text point to Jesus. Christian drink of his blood and eat if his body. Ritualistic blood consumption is prohibited in the Hebrew text, not foreshadowed.

I agree, I believe the vision was real in the sense, that it's concept and perfection was given to Ezekiel and it was meant for the Israelites in exile, if they had adequately repented and returned to God, but they didn't. So while the temple was a reality in concept, which was shown to Ezekiel, the people didn't do their part, so Jesus Christ came and did the job.

The problem is this is a prophetic dream of something that will absolutely happen no matter what. This isn't a contingency where if something should fail this will occur, this absolutely will positively happen no matter what. It says in Ezekiel 45:15
15 Also one sheep is to be taken from every flock of two hundred from the well-watered pastures of Israel. These will be used for the grain offerings, burnt offerings and fellowship offerings to make atonement for the people, declares the Sovereign Lord.

Ezekiel 45 is a vision for the 3rd temple. Not a literal third. The 3rd temple is his ekklesia. His body of believers. We offer sacrifices of praise. A contrite heart and broken spirit. Come on folks. Its purely metaphorical for a spiritual 3rd house.

    • @chad969
      @chad969 4 года назад

"The 3rd temple is his ekklesia. His body of believers"
Let's think about the implications of that. Ezekiel 44:9 says "This is what the Sovereign Lord says: No foreigner uncircumcised in heart *and*
*_FLESH_* is to enter my sanctuary, not even the foreigners who live among the Israelites." If the sanctuary represents the body of believers, then when Ezekiel talks about someone entering into the sanctuary, it's talking about someone becoming a believer, right? But if one has to be circumcised of both heart *_and_* *_flesh_* in order to enter into the metaphorical sanctuary, that would mean that men have to be literally circumcised in order to be a believer. Surely you don't believe that one has to be circumcised of flesh in order to be a believer, do you?
Also, if the temple is metaphorical, what do all of these different cubits represent?
“‘When you allot the land as an inheritance, you are to present to the Lord a portion of the land as a sacred district, 25,000 cubits long and 20,000 cubits wide; the entire area will be holy. 2 Of this, a section 500 cubits square is to be for the sanctuary, with 50 cubits around it for open land. 3 In the sacred district, measure off a section 25,000 cubits long and 10,000 cubits[f] wide. In it will be the sanctuary, the Most Holy Place. 4 It will be the sacred portion of the land for the priests, who minister in the sanctuary and who draw near to minister before the Lord. It will be a place for their houses as well as a holy place for the sanctuary. 5 An area 25,000 cubits long and 10,000 cubits wide will belong to the Levites, who serve in the temple, as their possession for towns to live in. @@RoseSharon7777 "The circumcision of the flesh is no longer required."
Obviously... that's precisely the problem. Since circumcision of the flesh is no longer required, that means that the sanctuary written about in Ezekiel can't be Christ's body of believers. Why? Because Ezekiel says "No foreigner uncircumcised in heart and Flesh is to enter into my sanctuary." If you're correct that the temple (i.e. sanctuary) is Christs body of believers, then the statement "No foreigner uncircumcised in heart and Flesh is to enter into my sanctuary" would mean that foreigners have to be circumcised of the flesh in order to enter into Christ's body of believers, which you clearly don't believe. That's why I asked the obviously rhetorical question of whether you think one has to be circumcised of flesh in order to be a believer. Since you don't think one has to be circumcised of flesh in order to enter into Christ's body of believers, then explain how you interpret the verse I just quoted - Ezekiel 44:9?

So, are we still stuck with on Matthew 24/25 being fulfilled? Are we still awaiting the 3rd temple to be built? One reason people think it’s unfulfilled is that how will the abomination of desolation take place without one? And there are quite a few more reasons not to be taken up now.
#1. For what reason do we reinstate the old covenant animal sacrifice? Or restablish the Levitical priesthood? Sorry, but we (the Church) (Christ’s body)Jew and Gentile, the faithful remnant of Israel with the grafted in Gentiles who are the true Jews/Israel Rom 2:28 worship the father in Spirit and in truth, have no more need for a Mountain or a physical Jerusalem to worship. “Jesus saith unto her, Woman, believe me, the hour cometh, when ye shall neither in this mountain, nor yet at Jerusalem, worship the Father. You worship what you do not know; we worship what we know, for salvation is from the Jews. But the hour is coming, and is now here, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father is seeking such people to worship him.” John‬ ‭4:21-24
#2. What Generation will all the righteous blood shed from Able to Zachariah the son of Barachiah be upon?
#3 Why did The high priest tear his garment when Jesus said he would see him coming with the clouds of heaven? It’s not so much he claimed to be the Christ but the High priest knew well the apocalyptic language of Coming on clouds in the Old Testament.
Isaiah 19:1 “An oracle concerning Egypt. Behold, the Lord is riding on a swift cloud and comes to Egypt; and the idols of Egypt will tremble at his presence, and the heart of the Egyptians will melt within them.”
*“Who layeth the beams of his chambers in the waters: who maketh the clouds his chariot: who walketh upon the wings of the wind:”
      ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭104:3‬ ‭
*Talking of Babylon and not takin literally,
“When I blot you out, I will cover the heavens and make their stars dark; I will cover the sun with a cloud, and the moon shall not give its light. All the bright lights of heaven will I make dark over you, and put darkness on your land, declares the Lord God.”
      ‭‭Ezekiel‬ ‭32:7-8‬
#4 Where are the disciples who were Told they would not taste death until they see the son of man coming in his kingdom? Why are they silent? Why, when we need them most, are they not speaking up and bringing clarity to these things?
#5 Would not Jesus have used the word Kosmos instead of Aion to speak of a universal destruction? Doesn’t it make more sense Aion (age) would mean the (age/time period) of Moses and the Law (officially) ending now that one stone would not be left upon another? Jesus was never going to leave them without. He was setting up his kingdom on his first Go and inaugurating it in his “parasouia”. His presence
#6. What will be the ramifications for a rebuilt 3rd Temple in the near future.
3rd Temple = restorations of things Mosaic.
3rd Temple = reinstating bloody animal sacrifices.
3rd Temple = apostate Jewish leaders put back in control.
3rd Temple = Return of persecuting Satanic powers that Christian fought until 70AD
3rd Temple = Return of High priests and Levitical Priesthood
3rd Temple = Repair of the Veil that was ripped open by God for all to access.
3rd Temple = Returning to a place made with human hands. Act 17:24
3rd Temple = No more New Heaven and Earth (God’s temple now in man)
3rd Temple = Returning to a system God removed. Hebrews 10:9
No Temple = No more bloodySacrifices ( Christ the once for all sacrifice)
No Temple = No more Levitical Priesthood (Priesthood of all believers)
No Temple = No more old Heaven and Earth (Jews saw Temple as Heaven and Earth)
No Temple = No more veil (God can now dwell in men on Earth) New heaven & Earth
No Temple = No more law of Moses ( New covenant with law written on heart)
No Temple = Saints as Gods true desired dwelling place. 2 Corinthians 6:16
Just because another physical Temple is being built, doesn’t mean God is behind it. This is exactly what Stephen meant in Acts 7: 44-50 when he said,
“Our fathers had the tent of witness in the wilderness, just as he who spoke to Moses directed him to make it, according to the pattern that he had seen. Our fathers in turn brought it in with Joshua when they dispossessed the nations that God drove out before our fathers. So it was until the days of David, who found favor in the sight of God and asked to find a dwelling place for the God of Jacob. But it was Solomon who built a house for him. Yet the Most High does not dwell in houses made by hands, as the prophet says, “‘Heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool. What kind of house will you build for me, says the Lord, or what is the place of my rest? Did not my hand make all these things?’” God does not want more Temples that can be destroyed. He wants a spiritual Kingdom with Spiritual worship from a Spiritual people who know that the Kingdom of God is within. Shalom

So how can one understand Heb. 10:18 which states that there is no longer sacrifices? It is clear that all the sacrifices pointed toward a future expression of worship but no sacrifices are anticipated in the New Testament after the fall of the temple. Zechariah chapter 6 is clearly referring to the time of Joshua and Zerubbabel. Zech. 6:11-12 states "And take silver and gold, make a crown, and set it on the head of Joshua son of Jehozadak, the high priest. Then say to him (Joshua son of Jehozadak), 'Thus says the Lord of hosts, Behold, a man whose name is Branch, for he will branch out from where he is; and he will build the temple of the Lord." Therefore, the temple construction that Zechariah has in mind is only referring to the 2nd temple in which Joshua son of Jehozadak would stand as high priest.

Mr. Brown is not really answering the main problem clearly layed out in the question, as one should if being a good Bible exposer. Instead Mr. Brown tries to explain away the text with giving a very foggy answer. It goes with guesses: "perhaps?", "maybe?" e t c, and basing his case with Christological interpretations and references to the NT. Mr. Brown try to answer the question, but it is still unanswered…
That´s not being true to the question or to the text, as he is not solving the main problem with the NT interpretation of getting rid of the sacrificial system (like in the book of Hebrews in the NT - because there it says the ultimate and final sacrifice is said to be Jesus, and thereby - good by to the sacrifice system - forever? But, ... Mr. Brown cannot get rid of the coming sacrifices in the messianic age.
Tanach teaches that all “known sin” is always only forgiven through repentance. As the Temple service was in operation, all “unknown sin” was forgiven within the sacrificial offering system. As the people of Israel no longer had the Temple, all “unknown sin” was forgiven at the same time - through personal repentance of all “known sin”.
    So - the questions remains:
How can the future Prince (the coming true messiah) in Ezekiel chapter 45 offer up a sin sacrifice: 1/ for himself 2/ and for the people - IF according to the NT Jesus closed this kind of sacrificial system - forever? And how can Jesus be the messiah - IF this individual, in the future, needs to cover for personal reasons, as well as for the people?

The Messiah is NOT G-d. Salvation comes by obeying the Law of G-d. If you are a Jew you are to demonstrate your faith by keeping the Law of Moses. If you are not a Jew, you are to demonstrate your faith by loving all and keeping what is known as the 7 Laws of Noah. Paul was a shady character because he taught the Law of Moses was ineffective. This is against what the Hebrew Bible taught. Not even Jesus said in the "corrupted gospels" that salvation was from having faith in his blood sacrifice. Rather, he taught Torah ... keeping the laws of G-d!

(Also look into Prince Charles being the Antichrist,if the Anti messiah has come, the real Messiah must have already come before him)
Your objections to Christianity are false if we acknowledge the fact that Pauls word(expressed in Pauline epistles,Acts and Luke cause Luke was Pauls disciple and Jude and 2 Peter because they were not written by Jude and Peter but were written after their death by Pauline actors)is false and contradicts the word of Messiah(I am gonna show proof of that later) then we understand that Messiah WILL bring back the sacrificial system in his second coming and WILL reign in Jerusalem for 1000 years in the millenial kingdom
    What messiah accually said:
we must obey the torah and Paul is a false prophet
    Mathew 5
17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.(this was a common Hebrew idiom that says that I came to teach the law how it's meant to be teached, we find how the law is meant to be teached in the law)
18 For verily I say unto you, Till HEAVEN AND EARTH(not Jesus but heaven and earth) pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.
19 Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.
20 For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven.(the Pharisees unlike what many think weren't obedient to the law and Yashua rebuked them for that, they teached the law but were hypocrites and didn't do what they taught Mathew 23 Jesus said to the crowds and to his disciples:
2 The Pharisees and the teachers of the Law are experts in the Law of Moses. 3 So obey everything they teach you, but don't do as they do. After all, they say one thing and do something else.

3 But he answered and said unto them, Why do ye also transgress the commandment of God by your tradition?
4 For God commanded, saying, Honour thy father and mother: and, He that curseth father or mother, let him die the death.
    5 But ye say, Whosoever shall say to his father or his mother, It is a gift, by whatsoever thou mightest be profited by me;
6 And honour not his father or his mother, he shall be free. Thus have ye made the commandment of God of none effect by your tradition.

13 The other Jewish believers also started acting like cowards along with Peter; and even Barnabas was swept along by their cowardly action.
14 When I saw that they were not walking a straight path in line with the truth of the gospel, I said to Peter in front of them all, “You are a Jew, yet you have been living like a Gentile, not like a Jew. How, then, can you try to force Gentiles to live like Jews?”(Paul said that Peter was living like a gentile because he was eating with Gentiles, but that was a false Jewish custom not a matter of the law)

If theres going to be blood sacrifices then Yeshua died in vain!! We offer sacrifices of praise and death to our carnal man! Wake up people! I want to scream at peoples blindness!! Ezekiel and Revelation is talking about A SPIRITUAL HOUSE not a literal! No wonder 2/3 of the church will go thru great tribulation!! Blind as bats and sheep to the slaughter! You've got a huge problem then. There's specific measurements and specifications for the actual PHYSICAL TEMPLE and God MANDATES SIN OFFERINGS FOR THE ATONEMENT OF SIN no doubt about it. There's no "fuzziness or doubt" about it, it's written in clear words. Michael brown is being dishonest and is using "could be" or "maybe" or "there's other options" so he doesn't have to admit that it says what it says. It's clear but it contradicts Christianity so he won't allow himself to believe it, it's called cognitive dissonance.

He will provide the sin offerings, grain offerings, burnt offerings and fellowship offerings to make atonement for the Israelites. 18 “ ‘This is what the Sovereign LORD says: In the first month on the first day you are to take a young bull without defect and purify the sanctuary. 19 The priest is to take some of the blood of the sin offering and put it on the doorposts of the temple, on the four corners of the upper ledge of the altar and on the gateposts of the inner court. 20 You are to do the same on the seventh day of the month for anyone who sins unintentionally or through ignorance; so you are to make atonement for the temple.
. There will be a physical temple that G-d commands us to build and as you see, GOD COMMANDS SACRIFICE FOR THE ATONEMENT OF SIN IT IS SO CLEAR IT IS JUMPING OFF THE PAGE AT YOU. This is the age to come. In Ezekiel 40-48, Ezekiel describes an enormous new temple (chapters 40-42). The glory of God returns (chapter 43), sin sacrifices are resumed (chapters 44-46), and the land is restored to the people of Israel (chapters 47-48). The hearts of the people will have been changed (Ezekiel 36:26-27), and even Gentiles have a place in the restored kingdom (Ezekiel 47:22). The land will be ruled by a prince, who is mentioned several times in chapter 46 (verses 2, 4, 8, 10, and 12).

Unfortunately, Ezekiel was not speaking about our future in this vision. Ezek. 43:18-19 points out clearly that Ezekiel himself would be the first to offer a sacrifice on the altar of this temple "on the day it is built". This could only refer to the second temple.

Ezek. 45:8 speaks of the succession of princes that are commanded to not to oppress the people. Note the plural in this passage of "princes" and "they". Ezek. 45:8 says "This shall be his land for a possession in Israel; so My princes shall no longer oppress My people, but they shall give the land to the house of Israel according to their tribes."
We also see that this position of prince includes the passing on of inheritance to the next generation of sons. In Ezek. 46:16,17,18 it says "If the prince gives a gift out of his inheritance to any of his sons, it shall belong to his sons; it is their possession by inheritance...His inheritance shall be only his sons'; it shall belong to them...he shall give his sons inheritance from his own possession so that My people shall not be scattered, anyone from his possession." This is speaking of land inheritance which is allotted to the prince and mentioned in a few other passages in Ezekiel 40-48. Therefore, the position of prince is not to be understood as occupied by one man but rather a legacy from David, Shealtiel (1 Chron. 3:17, Matt.1:12), or Zerubbabel (Hagg. 1:1, 2:21), or Sheshbazzar (Ezra 1:8, 5:14) would have been the first to fulfill this role after the exiles returned from Babylon. Their children after them would continue to occupy the position of prince until the time of the Maccabees (c. 167 BC).

He is the END OF ALL ANIMAL SACRIFICES but for "INTENTIONAL SINS" or rebellious sins. ... This further means that the Jewish Messiah if in right standing with God will see Christ as "THE END" of those type of sacrifices, and accept Christ leading to Israel's repentance. Am I correct?

He tries to answer this question the same way all pre-millennials do: desperately trying to ram the pre-mill / dispensational system into the Bible. It isn't hard. Ezekiel 40-48 never once - ONCE - says the temple is a "millennial kingdom" temple, nor does it specify it will stand in the Messianic Kingdom promised to Israel. It is a set of INSTRUCTIONS to Israel via the literal prophet Ezekiel, to show ancient Israel (returning from captivity) their sins, and to carry out the building of it:
    Eze 43:10
Thou son of man, shew the house to the house of Israel, that they may be ashamed of their iniquities: and let them measure the pattern.

Bruce, I am beginning to study the two sides, covenant and dispensational theology. All I ever knew was dispensational up to 5 years or so ago. One thing that concerns me is that the covenant side throws all end time eschatology away because of Ezekiel's vision of the temple. The animal sacrifices for sin doesn't make sense to me but neither does saying the book of Revelation is not literal either. I believe Christ will come down to reign on the earth for a 1000 years because the Bible says that. Telling me that things do not mean what they say in the Bible concerns me. If something in the passage is to be spiritualized it is clear it's supposed to be from what I see.

Why isn't the book of Ezekiel rejected? Ezekiel 1:1 is in direct opposition to Jeremiah 29:8
Jeremiah says not to listen to prophets speaking to the people in the Babylonian captivity. Jeremiah 29:15 is saying that God did not raise up prophets in Babylon!
Daniel was also in Babylon but he kept the matters of his understanding to himself and wrote it for the end times.
Ezekiel claims to change Torah with different instructions than Torah, so also by this, it should be rejected.
Is it possible that Ezekiel's prince/messiah is actually the antichrist? If we follow Ezekiel we follow the Antichrist who re-establishes sacrifices!

Jesus was not the messiah, Jesus Christ did not fulfill any prophesies. Example the prophecy of Jonah, people in order to defend the lie twist the word of God. Infact the New testament is nothing but a mess. People who are uneducated in the bible can easily become victim of such people. I believe in the Jewish scriptures.

    • @YeshuabenJoseph
      @YeshuabenJoseph 4 года назад +1

What, in the Jewish Scriptures, would lead you away from Jesus? It is clear that the prophets anticipated a Messiah, correct? What time did they see Him to come? Was it not at the end of the law of Moses? Note what the Talmud states.
Said R. Samuel bar Nahmani said R. Jonathan, “Blasted be the bones of those who calculate the end [when the Messiah will come]. “For they might say, ‘Since the end has come and he has not come, he will not come.’ (b. Sanh. 97b)
The Tannaite authority of the household of Elijah stated, “The world will last for six thousand years: two thousand years of chaos, two thousand years of Torah, two thousand years of the time of the Messiah. But because of the abundance of our sins, what has passed of the foreordained time has passed.” (b. Abod. Zar. 1:3)
So then, Judaism sees that the end of their system has come and that it pointed to the time of the coming Messiah, about 2,000 years ago. This agrees with Daniel's timeline in Daniel 11-12, his 70 weeks of years (490 years; Dan. 9:24-27), Zechariah's symbolic priest (Zech. 3:8), and Balaam's Star from Jacob (Num. 24:17) that would finish the kingdoms of the earth with the Kittim (Romans) and Eber (Hebrews; Num. 24:24) - this could only have found a correlation at one point in history, the first century AD. Therefore, we are left with only a window of time to examine in the first century. I would ask, then, who is the Messiah from the first century AD?
