    I LOVED the ending. Same, same for me. It took me 13 years after my first read of the Bible and then studying it, to "see" Jesus. But once you see, you can't "un-see" and then you see Him everywhere in the OT/Tanakh. He is LITERALLY on every page, so I can understand what the man was pointing out and the laughter it caused Dr. Brown. The NT then becomes somewhat, but not all, a summary, in a way, that puts it all together and explains how those things were a precursor and some (again, not all) are to be taken on a spiritual level. Still blows my mind. Still, and I guess until the day I die, I find new things that make me say, "OH! I didn't see that before!" By God's grace, may we all see clearer every day.

    Luke 4:16 And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up: and, as his custom was, he went into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and stood up for to read. 17And there was delivered unto him the book of the prophet Esaias. And when he had opened the book, he found the place where it was written,
    18The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,
    19To preach the acceptable year of the Lord. 20And he closed the book, and he gave it again to the minister, and sat down. And the eyes of all them that were in the synagogue were fastened on him. 21And he began to say unto them, This day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears.

    So what is The Truth then? Michael Brown is a scholar, Tovia Sincer is a scholar, the other people Michael Brown mentioned are also scholars. Each one has researched and studied the Scriptures - Old and New Testament - yet they interpret the Scriptures differently. So who is right then? How can anyone really know? I truly want to know the truth and I am seeking. I was born again in my twenties. I am now in my fifties. I never thought I'd be in this place of questioning, but, here I am. Both sides make compelling arguments for what they believe, but there can only be one truth. Faith is critical to life, so why doesn't God reveal, clearly, what that truth is? I know no one has the answer, so I will keep seeking after God and hope He will reveal it to me.

      @@sjohnson4507 I believe there is a God, but have no idea after that. I can't understand how I am so vile that God can't even look at me and Jesus had to die because of me. I know I'm far from perfect, but I don't think the things I've done wrong warrant eternal damnation or someone else suffering an excruciating death in my place. I've listened to many discussions with Rabbi Singer and the OT teaching of heartfelt repentance and going to God and asking forgiveness, makes more sense. What I still struggle with is suffering. I've known so many who have suffered with disease and other things, and I wonder why God doesn't intervene somehow. I just don't know what is true anymore. I've sought God and there are no answers or reassurances.

    Isaiah 53.3 old testament
    He was despised and rejected by mankind,
    a man of suffering, and familiar with pain.
    Like one from whom people hide their faces
    he was despised, and we held him in low esteem.
    4 Surely he took up our pain
    and bore our suffering,
    yet we considered him punished by God,
    stricken by him, and afflicted.
    5 But he was pierced for our transgressions,
    he was crushed for our iniquities;
    the punishment that brought us peacewas on him,
    and by his wounds we are healed.
    6 We all, like sheep, have gone astray,
    each of us has turned to our own way;
    and the Lord has laid on him
    the iniquity of us all.
    7 He was oppressed and afflicted,
    yet he did not open his mouth;
    he was led like a lamb to the slaughter,
    and as a sheep before its shearers is silent,
    so he did not open his mouth.
    8 By oppression[a] and judgment he was taken away.
    Yet who of his generation protested?
    For he was cut off from the land of the living;
    for the transgression of my people he was punished.[b]
    9 He was assigned a grave with the wicked,
    and with the rich in his death,
    though he had done no violence,
    nor was any deceit in his mouth.
    10 Yet it was the Lord’s will to crush him and cause him to suffer,
    and though the Lord makes[c] his life an offering for sin,
    he will see his offspring and prolong his days,
    and the will of the Lord will prosperin his hand.
    11 After he has suffered,
    he will see the light of life[d] and be satisfied[e];
    by his knowledge[f] my righteous servant will justify many,
    and he will bear their iniquities.
    12 Therefore I will give him a portion among the great,[g]
    and he will divide the spoils with the strong,[h]
    because he poured out his life unto death,
    and was numbered with the transgressors.
    For he bore the sin of many,
    and made intercession for the transgressors.

    I'm a believer, but some of my ancestors are Jewish...and it's easy to see why many Jews don't believe Yeshua is the Messiah because there are still wars, there is still brokenness. Yeshua/Jesus didn't fulfill many scriptures. And so, it's not Jews' fault for holding G-d to the standard of perfection. So you may ask, why do you believe Jesus is the Messiah then? Well, He may not have fulfilled all the scriptures...nor can He save you from this brokenness & suffering...but he suffered with us, and he was broken for us. This love is a mystery, it has no explanation, nor does it solve our problems...but it's ever before us. This is the work of the Messiah alone.

      Messiah was to bring World Peace. All Jews were to go back to Israel. Third temple to be built. None of this happened and Jesus said “It is Finished” as his last words on the cross in John. Finished what? Should have used Arnold Schwarzenegger’s famous “The Terminator” line “I’ll be back”. Although no mention of the Messiah being God or Temporarily dying and rising in 3 days in the Old Testament.

    Miracles, miracles, miracles. Miracles performed by Jesus, that the whole of Judea talked about them, then miracles performed by his followers centuries after, that the whole world talked about them. Miracles, prophesies and supernatural powers prove that Jesus IS the "real deal", that his teachings must be THE message from God and must be followed unquestionably (whether or not you believe in his being the Son of God or the Word, or whatever......that's not the point). Without this proof of Jesus' divine origin, he might as well have been just another ancient cult dud leader, false prophet or even a psychiatric patient calling himself the Son of God. Lepers cannot be healed or the dead be raised by any other power than the power of God. So, follow Jesus, you won't go wrong.

    In Matthew’s record of what is commonly called the Sermon on the Mount, these words of Jesus are recorded: “Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. I tell you the truth, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished” (Matthew 5:17-18).
    It is frequently argued that if Jesus did not “abolish” the law, then it must still be binding. Accordingly, such components as the Sabbath-day requirement must be operative still, along with perhaps numerous other elements of the Mosaic Law. This assumption is grounded in a misunderstanding of the words and intent of this passage. Christ did not suggest here that the binding nature of the law of Moses would remain forever in effect. Such a view would contradict everything we learn from the balance of the New Testament (Romans 10:4; Galatians 3:23-25; Ephesians 2:15).
    Of special significance in this study is the word rendered “abolish.” It translates the Greek term kataluo, literally meaning “to loosen down.” The word is found seventeen times in the New Testament. It is used, for example, of the destruction of the Jewish temple by the Romans (Matthew 26:61; 27:40; Acts 6:14), and of the dissolving of the human body at death (2 Corinthians 5:1). The term can carry the extended meaning of “to overthrow,” i.e., “to render vain, deprive of success.” In classical Greek, it was used in connection with institutions, laws, etc., to convey the idea of “to invalidate.”
    It is especially important to note how the word is used in Matthew 5:17. In this context, “abolish” is set in opposition to “fulfill.” Christ came “...not to abolish, but to fulfill.” Jesus did not come to this earth for the purpose of acting as an opponent of the law. His goal was not to prevent its fulfillment. Rather, He revered it, loved it, obeyed it, and brought it to fruition. He fulfilled the law’s prophetic utterances regarding Himself (Luke 24:44). Christ fulfilled the demands of the Mosaic law, which called for perfect obedience under threat of a “curse” (see Galatians 3:10, 13). In this sense, the law’s divine design will ever have an abiding effect. It will always accomplish the purpose for which it was given.
    If, however, the law of Moses bears the same relationship to men today, in terms of its binding status, then it was not fulfilled, and Jesus failed at what He came to do. On the other hand, if the Lord did accomplish His goal, then the law was fulfilled, and it is not a binding legal institution today. Further, if the law of Moses was not fulfilled by Christ-and thus remains as a binding legal system for today-then it is not just partially binding. Rather, it is a totally compelling system. Jesus plainly said that not one “jot or tittle” (representative of the smallest markings of the Hebrew script) would pass away until all was fulfilled. Consequently, nothing of the law was to fail until it had completely accomplished its purpose. Jesus fulfilled the law. Jesus fulfilled all of the law. We cannot say that Jesus fulfilled the sacrificial system, but did not fulfill the other aspects of the law. Jesus either fulfilled all of the law, or none of it. What Jesus' death means for the sacrificial system, it also means for the other aspects of the law.

    • @davidschaeffer5348
      @davidschaeffer5348 5 лет назад +2

      Jews never were able to "perfectly" obey the law, in fact, they were fairly terrible at it, being human and all. Jesus' death provided us lowly humans a chance at grace, which we didn't have without Him. Now, aside from sin being clearly defined as Torahlessness, or lawlessness more likely in your version, and Jesus' only sermon being the teaching of Torah, and you having misunderstood the meaning of "fulfilling" the law, Paul was Torah-observant his entire life--this we know. Read just about any of his letters. Peter was as well--we know this from his rooftop vision almost a decade after the resurrection when he said he had never eaten anything unclean. These men learned at Jesus' feet--before and after the resurrection. Don't you think that IF Jesus had intended for us not to obey Torah, that he would have mentioned that to His boys?? They didn't know, so the chance of you knowing that they were wrong to obey Torah is not terribly high. Yes, the sacrificial system is no longer necessary, or even possible, but, and to use the very verse YOU quoted, heaven and earth have not disappeared.

    THE LAWS OF THE MOSAIC COVENANT ARE FULFILLED IN CHRIST - The Law and the Sabbath were pointing to Christ, it was a shadow of what was to come, and not the substance (Colossians 2:16-17). Jesus said that He came not to abolish the law but to fulfill the law (Matthew 5:17). In fulfilling the law, He completed the law. How did He do this? Jesus fulfilled the Law by obeying the law perfectly and by completing the sacrificial system. Jesus saves to the uttermost! In what way can we offer one more sacrifice for the forgiveness of sins? Jesus pronouncement, “It is finished,” signified the completion and fulfillment of the law.

    First, - We know the writers and authors of the gospels, did not give their work titles like: “The Gospel of …´Matthew`”. And no were in the book of Matthew, this author says he is present as an eyewitness - saying of himself: “Then I and Jesus and the other disciples heard or did - ´this or that`”. So, - this book titled “Matthew” was made on a high level - schooled Greek - and written around year 80-85. Now, if we do not know who the author of Matthew was, how can anybody just assume this author is one of the disciples, and is not another Greek speaking person just telling a self made composed story, somewhere in the
    Roman Empire?
    So, - the given name/title “The Gospel of” ... - (in this case “´Matthew`), like the other three gospels, were given about a 100 years later after the original (that we no longer have), the year 185, and was from that period used regularly in later copies. Irenaeus of Lyon, confirmed to this happening, as he was the first official Church leader to establish this way of naming these the four gospels together - with it is four names/titles - as a group. In other words - Mr. Brown and all other NT believers are really in big trouble - if they trust anything this Matthew is saying about the 11 texts from Tanach - as proof texts of the NT Jesus Story.
    The author of Matthew was no dummy, but a very clever man. We do know - all four gospels was written between the years 65/70 - 95, - and that this author as well wanted to add "roots" to the earlier Pauline letter (from year 50-65). The later and new Jesus Story - with all the four gospels - gave the older Pauline Gospel - with it´s more "Gnostic" touch (=“the heavenly mystery of Christ”), a balance with also pointing towards that Jesus was a real "flesh and blood" man. As Paul was not saying so much about the earthly life of Jesus - they added more "roots" to the message. But, as was said - we do not know who this “Matthew were - or, any of the other authors as well. It is all just based on speculative tradition.

    Dr Brown stated no facts. Just educated viewpoints from renowned people. Jesus only the messiah because the new test says he was. Isolate Scripture in the Tanak and read them as they are, and none of them point to a future messiah. I was a Christian not too long ago, but I left Christianity because I came to see how the Hebrew text reveals all the lies in the King James Bible. I still was willing to listen to what Dr. Brown had to say. Maybe there might be some here who will purchase Rabbi Tovia Singer book call “Lets get Biblical.” I know everyone here feel that they have no need to question their beliefs. Many of the "fulfilled" prophecies were not fulfilled at all or fulfilled only if you were looking in that context as I have done vids for my own people exactly on this topic. For instance Jeremiah predicting fall of Judah to Babylon. Well any military strategist could have said this by looking at the growing empire that Judah would not honor. The virgin prophecy of Immanuel. First Immanuel could have been anyone and second the word doesn't mean virgin in the original Hebrew script. The "suffering servant" could be a metaphor for Israel. And it may not be but it IS a possibility. Basically what apologists are doing are taking vague predictions and molding them to fit their worldview. I have yet on my own work to find a "prophecy" fulfilled. Maybe I will in the future--but not so far. Cheers, DCF

    So, if you go into the Hebrew Bible with Jesus glasses, you can make just about anything be Jesus. But if you read the Hebrew Bible without preconceptions, he isn’t there. Sorry. You have to take half verses and verses way out of context to actually find Jesus in there.
    I also noticed that Dr Brown failed to quote any specific verse/fulfillment. He knows that it will fall apart.
    Example:
    “and remained there until the death of Herod. This was to fulfill what the Lord had spoken by the prophet, “Out of Egypt I called my son.””
    ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭2:15‬ ‭
    Actual text being taken out of context:
    ““When Israel was a child, I loved him, and out of Egypt I called my son. But the more they were called, the more they went away from me. They sacrificed to the Baals and they burned incense to images.”
    ‭‭Hosea‬ ‭11:1-2‬
    Israel is Gods son, not Jesus. Also this is clearly NOT a messianic prophecy. 🤦🏻‍♀️

If you have a Heavenly Father what does that make you? There is an exception ... Americans have dozens of Fathers so no need to have one useless Heavenly Father. I am a born-again Christian , but I don’t agree with Dr. Micheal Brown . I don’t believe that there’s any Scriptures in the Tanak that are prophecies of Yeshua. The reason why I make this claim is because what Amos 3:7-8 says. It says: “ For no word will my Lord HaShem do that His secret counsel is not revealed to His servants the prophets. A lion roars who will not fear? My Lord HaShem hath spoken who will not prophecy? Therefore if the prophets didn’t say that these prophecies were about Yeshua it is because HaShem never spoke that word of prophecy in the prophets hearts in the first place.

      46Then He said to them, “Thus it is written, and thus it was necessary for the Christ to suffer and to rise from the dead the third day, 47and that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in His name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. 48And you are witnesses of these things. 49Behold, I send the Promise of My Father upon you; but tarry in the city of Jerusalem until you are endued with power from on high.

Yet because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you. 20Remember the word that I said to you, ‘A servant is not greater than his master.’ If they persecuted Me, they will also persecute you. If they kept My word, they will keep yours also. 21But all these things they will do to you for My name’s sake, because they do not know Him who sent Me. 22If I had not come and spoken to them, they would have no sin, but now they have no excuse for their sin. 23He who hates Me hates My Father also. 24If I had not done among them the works which no one else did, they would have no sin; but now they have seen and also hated both Me and My Father. 25But this happened that the word might be fulfilled which is written in their law, ‘They hated Me without a cause.'
      26“But when the Helper comes, whom I shall send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who proceeds from the Father, He will testify of Me. 27And you also will bear witness, because you have been with Me from the beginning.
      John 5:39-40

Does it point to a man in the future who will be born of a virgin? If not your argument that is are trying to prove is not as strong. I laugh every time preachers point out to Isaiah 7:14 and call it a prophecy about Jesus. This verse has the wrong word (maiden, not virgin), the wrong name (Immanuel, not Jesus), and the wrong set of circumstances (it was not about Roman Judea). If this is the best case for Jesus, then there is simply no argument for Jesus in the Hebrew Bible. He is just not there. If the authors of the Hebrew Bible wanted to prophesize Jesus, they would have said so. They never did.

    • @whattheheckification
      @whattheheckification 8 лет назад +12

      I'm no expert, but many translations I've seen of isiah 7:14 use the word "virgin." But even if the word is "maiden" Marry was definitely a maiden (a young woman of marriageable age) and weren't maidens at this time and place usually virgins? Also, Jesus has many names. Among them are "wonderful councilor," "prince of peace," "Everlasting God," etc... And these names are also found in isiah to describe the messiah. Could it not be that "Emmanuel" which means "God with us" is just one of the many names of the messiah? And thus one of the many names people called Jesus? Just a thought though, again I'm no expert.

    • @carmelo1509

      You don't need to be an expert. You need to be a reasonable person. Let's say I tell you that a man by the name of Tom is going to become president and then, decades later, someone by a different name becomes president of a different country. Would you marvel at my prophecy?

    • @carmelo1509
      @carmelo1509 8 лет назад +1

      I did not ignore what you said, but my response was short and implicit. Here is an explicit response.
      1. I don't know Hebrew, but Scholars agree that the word used in Isa. 7:14 means maiden. There is a word for virgin which the writer could have used but didn't.
      2. How does it follow that because Isaiah used certain terms for messiah therefore he "could" have used Immanuel for Jesus!? What has one got to do with the other? "Could be this" and "could be that" are not valid arguments. Anything could be anything!
      3. Besides this is not a serious prediction. It gives a name which we never hear of again, and it doesn't tell us when or where this would happen or what this baby was about to do. This is the stuff of charlatans.
      4. To be honest, the author did give us a few clues - not very useful clues, but clues nonetheless. He told us his name would be Immanuel, which has nothing to do with Jesus (It's not like Bob and Robert!) He told us it would be during the Assyrian period, not during the Romans (Isa 7:17). And he told us that this baby would eat curds and honey (Isa 7:15) and, as far as I know, Jesus was not known to eat curds and honey. On every count, Jesus is out. There is absolutely no reason to link Jesus with Isaiah. None whatsoever.

    • @whattheheckification
      @whattheheckification 8 лет назад +4

      This verse in Isiah is talking about the messiah. The messiah is given many names, not just Emmanuel. Emmanuel literally translated means "God with us." Jesus, according to first hand accounts written about him claimed to be both the messiah spoken of in the Torah and God in human flesh (God with us) come to the earth to be the ultimate sacrifice for human sin. Which is why Christians don't feel the need to kill sheep or doves as penance for their sins. Also, the whole maiden thing, as I said earlier, Marry (Jesus's mother) was a maiden. She was also a virgin. I'm not sure how you get that the messiah is coming during the "Assyrian period" form Isaiah 7:17. But I'll for sure look more into that verse to see what it's talking about.
