I have recently begun attending a Messianic synagogue with Jewish and non-Jewish believers in the one and only Messiah Yeshua. I love Shabbat with my brothers and sisters in Yeshua, and have been experiencing much growth in my faith. Shabbat is so joyful and peaceful. A genuine rest from the work week. The point of Shabbat is to be refreshed, to worship with happiness, to bless HIM and to be blessed.

If one cannot freely worship the one Holy G-d with words of love, faith, and adoration musically or in a manner that is so effortless as in a song, or Psalm of Praise, simply because it is the Sabbath, we are losing sight of the fundamental differences between “Work”, and simply living. What is the difference between making a worshipful sound on Shabbat, and simply taking a long, deep breath? Because your vocal chords happen to have vibrated in one breath, and not the other? To worship the G-d of creation is not work, at least not to the Ruach of the true child of our Heavenly Avienu.

@@mikemaid5350 Shalom, Shabbat - Abolish & Destroy mean the same, both mean gone. Abolish means to end, Destroy means to tear down so to End something one needs to tear it down, to tear down means to abolish. Bibles with "Copyright" must have a % difference from each (Version) other so they will use Synonym's. Depending on a Countries "Copyright" laws will decide the % difference needed. Sadly, "Profit" Version Bibles made it impossible to really have the "Best" Translation. IE: If each Bible Version was able to just Translate w/o worry of "Copyright" most Bibles would probably so close in translation there would be very little Difference. Exception would be "Paraphrased" Versions. Most "Word / Synonym's" debates as in "Destroy / Abolish" is most of us need to ensure we know the words original vs present meanings. I am Yisraeli (not Jewish / Yahudah tribe) a Nazarene (Hebrew for Branches as in "Grafted") so often I also need to research a word (Hebrew or English) to validate the meaning. Knowing the "Hinderance" of "Copyright Laws" r/t Bible Translations / Versions then we understand the need to look up the words from one version to another. Most of the Time they are just Synonym's ... but sometimes the word used in the translation from one language to another can be wrong. This is also due to when one is Translating from one language to another one also needs to know the "Culture" (World vs Spiritual Culture - World here is not in the Negative but just like the "People" Culture) to truly translate. One can be "Textbook" Fluent in a Language, but w/o the Culture if one goes to where the Language is spoken the People there will know one is only "Textbook" language trained. This is also why English Bibles use diff Synonym's from the "Textbook" Bias due to the Translator is still thinking in Western English Culture Thought while trying to Translate a Hebrew Eastern Thought Writers Culture. So they try to use the best word w/o using a word already used in another Version; as they try to keep the % Diff for Copyright laws.

@@mikemaid5350 Addendum, the Culture Example would be the Word's Dear & Honey within the USA. Dear in the North is r/t a letter and Honey would be r/t food; but also r/t intimacy as in nicknames for a spouse/etc. In the South Dear & Honey are more used in non intimacy as in a Waitress to a customer she has never met. Often Northern Tourists get confused with a Waitress / etc using "Dear / Honey" to them thinking the waitress is trying to giving them hints. Or if a Southerner who uses "Dear / Honey" while being a Tourist in the North. Same two words, with very diff culture meanings. Now of course both in the North / South of USA Honey / Dear can have Synonym's and are not hardened Stereotypes for both areas.

      @deadtoselfShema 2 года назад

@@mikemaid5350 Sorry but need to cover "Culture" diff of Western USA, vs Eastern Hebrew/Yisrael Thought. Example your statement w/o any explanation why someone is to accept what you said on which word is correct. Today, this is how many reply / comment on YT and other Social Apps. In Scripture when Yoseph & Mariam notice they left Yeshua behind in Yerusalem they find Him asking questions with the "Doctors" at the Temple. The Problem is understanding "Questions & Doctors" per Hebrew Culture to see the English Translations are a Problem. In the USA someone may think you are not listening or wants to test if you understand what was said, so they will ask "Please in your own words restate what you heard?" In Hebrew one also may have to reword; but Hebrew Discussions are often with using Questions. One has to reword with another question. Easiest Example is basic math. One asks what is 6+5? Due to the original question is in Addition, the person replying can NOT use Addition. Easiest would be via a Subtraction as in 20-9? It must be answered quickly, so one can't try to show off and use multiplication or Division if not able to quickly think of the Answer (Exception would be in Advanced Math / Physics) So when Young Yeshua is discussing "Faith" with the "Elders not Doctors" they are asking and answering in questions, Yeshua was not asking questions to get answers (He is the Word of Elohim / God in the Flesh JN ch 1) but showing He understands to the Elders. They are not "Doctors or Doctorates" but Elders. Elders in the Hebrew Culture/Faith are those who have shown they are Mature in the Faith like those "Elders" who sit at a Diners Booth each week discussing stuff, and after a while many who also are regulars at that Diner will sooner or later ask those "Elders" at that booth for Advice. That is Why Yeshua asked Mariam / Yoseph "Did you not know I am doing my Fathers Will?". Yeshua was minimally proving Himself as a Hebrew Faith (not Judaism which is Oral Law / Man's Traditions) Prodigy or later those "Elders" will remember their Discussion with Yeshua and see the Him as the Messiah. Scripturally one is to add "Why" one thinks something is right and/or wrong. Which is one reason I am not too thrilled with "Short" video teachings like this, for Dr Brown is giving good information; but unless one knows what he is covering the Culture of two "Torah's - via the diff of Scriptural Torah vs Talmud/Oral Torah/man's Traditions "Clearly" some or most who don't see he is discussing from a Hebrew Eastern Faith Thought vs English Western Translation Thought will misunderstand him.

      Matthew 5:17 ►
“Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them.
      Greek word for fulfill (pléroó)
      Usages
      accomplish (1), accomplished (1), amply supplied (1), approaching (1), complete (1), completed (3), completing (1), elapsed (1), fill (3), filled (16), fills (1), finished (1), fulfill (20), fulfilled (20), fully carry (1), fully come (1), fully preached (1), increasing (1), made complete (2), made full (5), make...full (1), make...complete (1), passed (2), supply
      Usage in Mathew 5 17
universally and absolutely, to fulfil, i. e. "to cause God's will (as made known in the law) to be obeyed as it should be, and God's promises (given through the prophets) to receive fulfilment": Matthew 5:17; cf. Weiss, Das Matthäusevang. as above with, p. 146
      Luke 20 17-20
17 After taking the cup, he gave thanks and said, “Take this and divide it among you. 18 For I tell you I will not drink again from the fruit of the vine until the kingdom of God comes.”
19 And he took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying, “This is my body given for you; do this in remembrance of me.”
20 In the same way, after the supper he took the cup, saying, “This cup is the new covenant. in my blood, which is poured out for you.
Later, knowing that everything had now been finished, and so that Scripture would be fulfilled, Jesus said, “I am thirsty.” A jar of wine vinegar was there, so they soaked a sponge in it, put the sponge on a stalk of the hyssop plant, and lifted it to Jesus’ lips. When he had received the drink, Jesus said, “It is finished.” With that, he bowed his head and gave up his spirit. (John 19:28-30)
Meaning of “It is finished” as Tetelestai
"It is finished" is the English translation of the Greek word Tetelestai, which was the last thing Jesus' said before dying on the cross. Tetelestai comes from the verb teleo, which means "to bring to an end, to complete, to accomplish." It's a crucial word because it signifies the successful end to a particular course of action. It's the word you would use when you climb to the peak of Mt. Everest; it's the word you would use when you turn in the final copy of your dissertation; it's the word you would use when you make the final payment on your new car; it's the word you use when you cross the finish line of your first 10K run. The word means more than just "I survived." It means "I did exactly what I set out to do."
But there's more here than the verb itself. Tetelestai is in the perfect tense in Greek. That's significant because the perfect tense speaks of an action which has been completed in the past with results continuing into the present. It's different from the past tense which looks back to an event and says, "This happened." The perfect tense adds the idea that "This happened and it is still in effect today."
When Jesus cried out "It is finished," he meant "It was finished in the past, it is still finished in the present, and it will remain finished in the future
Both full and abolish ,/.destroy mean to bring to an end just in a different manner .
      The word covenant
      " Purpose
Covenant is a dominant theme in the Scriptures and serves as a foundation to the story of God's people. In a literal sense, a covenant means a binding agreement, a legal contract. It is a seal between two or more parties."
It literally means a contract / agreement and when a contract is fulfilled it is expired. It has run its course and has finished what it was set out to do .
Hence a new covenant is now in full force and the old has expired
Not because Jesus destroyed / abolished it but because he kept and fulfilled that contract .
      The old covenant

We attend Sabbath school an hour before meeting in the main congregation for Sabbath Worship. We believe in God, Jesus Christ, the holy spirit. We read the holy bible (OT & NT). We follow the same dietary laws that God gave us in the OT. (It's really what God intended for the good of our bodies! The Designer would know!! ) We fellowship with family and others after church by sharing meals, nature walks, prayer, scripture bible studies...anything that gets us closer to God. It's an amazing feeling! I think today's world would benefit so much from this. More marriages, and families could be closer if we kept his Sabbath holy. It's basically unplugging from our cell phones, tv shows, sports, anything secular and focus on Him as OUR CREATOR!!! It's truly a blessing!
Almost seems logical that a Messianic Jew could or is a SDA, ya know? Or for that matter...vice-versa! We truly are family of God.

I truly believe the Holy spirit will convict you as you need and will get to you until you keep shabbat and the holy feasts etc. I was not raised to do this, but as I read scripture it is absolutely clear to me Father God wants us to do this. he set appointments and we are to keep those. He did not give us the right to change it. Yes we are saved by Grace but Faith without works is dead. I do believe we need to be careful of adding "rules" to his rules. its a day of rest. Its about spending time with our Father. I see it as a weekly Father's Day. without this rest we are at risk for physical, emotional, and spiritual exhaustion. Why do you think mental illness is so high? we do not rest. I was horrible about this, and I was put on a "sabbatical" . It was during this time, my awakening in scripture happened. The Holy Spirit will guide each of us as we need. it will not be the same for each of us, but he absolutely guides us and wants us to keep the appointments.

Nowhere in the NT does Paul or Christ change it to pagan Sunday. Nowhere..
Paul kept 80 Sabbath's in Act's alone. Never did a single New Testament writer remotely advocate pagan Sunday keeping.
Christ kept Sabbath Every one. He even kept it in His Death. He rose on Sunday,, a common work day.

      Did Jesus keep the Sabbath?
Certainly Jesus kept the Sabbath. He lived under the Law Moses. "But when the fullness of the time came, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the Law" (Galatians 4:4). As an observant Jew, Jesus was circumcised (Luke 2:21.) He kept the Passover (Luke 22:15). There is no mention of his observing the Sabbath after his resurrection, even though he remained on the earth for some 40 days. That would include at least five Sabbath days.
The reason we find no further observance of the Sabbath is seen in the fact that the Sabbath and other Old Testament observances were abolished at the death of Christ. "When you were dead in your transgressions and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He made you alive together with Him, having forgiven us all our transgressions, having canceled out the certificate of debt consisting of decrees against us, which was hostile to us; and He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross. When He had disarmed the rulers and authorities, He made a public display of them, having triumphed over them through Him. Therefore no one is to act as your judge in regard to food or drink or in respect to a festival or a new moon or a Sabbath day-things which are a mere shadow of what is to come; but the substance belongs to Christ" (Colossians 2:13-17).
The Scripture says Christ took the decrees out of the way, having nailed them to the cross. Therefore, we are not to be judged any more concerning food or drink (dietary laws), or the observance of special days (including Sabbath days) or seasons. One commentary states: "The word 'judge' here is used in the sense of pronouncing a sentence. The meaning is, `since you have thus been delivered by Christ from the evils which surrounded you; since you have been freed from the observances of the law, let no one sit in judgment on you, or claim the right to decide for you in those matters'" (Albert Barnes). The apostle Paul, by inspiration declares that the Sabbath day has no more significance to us any more than the feast days, etc. We do not live under the Old Testament system at this time.

We keep the Sabbath by communion with God on the 7th day, and by ceasing from earthly work. The commandment says, "the 7th day is the Sabbath of the Lord", not "every day is the Sabbath". Yes, we should spend time with God daily, but the Sabbath is God's holy day, and we can't claim to love him while we intentionally profane his holy day. After all, if your wife told you, that she wanted to do something special for your wedding anniversary, would you tell her, "we talk every day anyway"?

But then I ask them where in the New Testament does it say to keep Sunday as a Memorial Day of his resurrection.? And there answer is no where. And I am like exactly. I even had another Christian who admitted to me that he agrees that “the Sabbath was never changed from Saturday to Sunday! “ he said to me he keeps Sunday because that’s the day his parents and grandparents always when to church and him too! So the conclusion is most Christians are keeping Sunday based on Roman Catholic tradition and authority and not on sola scriptura (the Bible)as they claim! True Christianity must worship God on the only day God gave us to keep in the scriptures and that is Saturday sabbath! Like it’s mentioned In Luke’s gospel Luke 23:56 it says that the women who were followers of Jesus kept the sabbath according to the commandment! These were the earliest Christians and they kept The forth commandment sabbath! After the death of Christ! And if you read acts 16:13 it talks about what Christians were doing on the sabbath. which was prayer , breaking bread, and baptizing people in the river! In a Gentile city. And the fact that the author who is Luke calls it the sabbath day draws the conclusion that Paul and the early Gentiles Christians kept the sabbath too.

Bennett McCoy I never said such things. I only explained specifically about the sabbath. If by the “Lords Day” you’re referring to Sunday sacredness. I say yeah that was corrupted and the Indians and the Armenians are celebrating the wrong “Lords day” as well. Sunday sacredness has no place in the New Testament. No where is it teaching us that Sunday is the new sabbath! All the biblical verses that Most Christians point too for Sunday observance are very vague text that don’t really support for Sunday observance! It’s talking about something else.

Constantine (325 AD) DID NOT change the Sabbath from Saturday to Sunday as Sabbath keepers falsely teach. So let me get this straight, if you don't observe Sabbath according to Jewish halakha then you don't really observe the Sabbath? That begs the question whether those traditions are actually something God commands for Sabbath observance or whether they are man made distortions.
I think it is a fallacy to argue you either do away with the Sabbath or you observe it according to rabbinic judaism's standard.

I’ve known several Messianic communities and I can tell you that we do keep the Sabbath! However, there is a difference between the traditions set around the keeping of the Sabbath and what was actually given in the Torah. I respect my Jewish brothers and sisters because, as Yeshua said, salvation is of the Jews (which I believe means it wouldn’t have been given to us if not first through the Jews), but Yeshua also spoke harshly to them concerning their traditions that h they had used to add and take away from God’s word.

No one can keep the whole Torah. Do you stone witches? Do you stone your children if they curse you? No. The whole Mosaic Law was centered in the Temple and its sacrifices. The Temple is gone, and Yeshua ended the Mosaic Law so we are now under the Law of Christ where he who loves his brother has fulfilled the whole law. All who are under the Law are under the curse according to Paul, for we are not under Law but under GRACE. Paul also says in 1 Corinthians that even if all one's works are burned up, yet he will still be saved: "If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved..." 1 Cor. 3:15- so we see that we are not saved by "works." Also, the "works" James is speaking of are not "keeping the law" but providing a brother or sister in need with those things they need if we are able, NOT keeping sabbaths.

So, while the spirit has given us that true rest only found in Christ, why would we still not observe sabbath command literally as we do the other 9?

I like Dr. Brown. I am not going to watch the video - however I just want to make a comment based on the title, which is a bit misleading, so that people can understand.
Dr. Brown IS a Messianic Jew IN THE sense that he is Jewish and he believes that Jesus Christ is the Jewish Messiah. So yes, he is a MESSIANIC Jewish person. However, his 'theology' is not like those in a 'practicing' Messianic Jewish congregation. Messianic Jews DO keep Shabbos. They do meet on Saturday in a Synagogue weekly. Many do keep the laws of the Torah and believe the Torah is applicable today and still the responsibility of every Jew to pursuit whole heartedly. Most of the Messianic Jews do recognize many traditional Jewish practices as found in the Mishna and Talmud "oral torah/tradition" although many do not find them authoritative or diving - just important parts of their tradition and heritage. Many Messianic Jews recognize the written Bible, both Old and New Testaments, as their only binding authority and do not keep many Mitzvo in the same way that Orthodox or other Jewish denominations do. Most absolutely keep Shabbat and keep Kosher. Dr. Brown is Jewish - yes. Dr. Brown is Messianic - yes. But he is actually a Pentecostal preacher and keeps more in line with mainstream Evangelical Christian theology.

I love this guy, he is very balanced, he does struggle with a few things being a messianic Jew, but mostly good. I think it is, as you say very important to distinguish the levels where each are. Jesus did not seem to call all the Jewish leaders snakes, he ate with some, and talked with others trying to show them the kingdom. But Jesus did not come and tell people how to observe Moses, but to fulfill Abrahams covenant, and to nail the law to the cross. We gloss over many things trying to make them fit, and romanticizing them, so that none are hurt, and that they feel included, like new wine in old wineskins. The Talmud says that Jesus is in hell burning over a pot of feces, there are accounts of sages fighting with Jesus and urinating on him. Many things not proper to say in public. It says that it is not a problem to have sexual relations with a boy under nine, and a girl under three. A privilege many of the sages partook in. Jesus rightly said you destroy the law by your commands. His words that many Jewish leaders of his day were adulterers was not him simply being nasty. It is a documented fact, once the oral law was written down 5 hundred years later. This system has nothing to do with Christianity, and to try to make them fit will cause a falling away. There is simply no other way but through grace and the acceptance as a gift the sacrifice of Jesus, paid without the works of the law. It is more than evident from history that no flesh has ever been justified by the works of the Moses law, it is simply a mirror to show us that, and point to Jesus.

Yes, thanks for that, it is just so important to make proper distinctions. I must admit that this whole topic has been a little forced on me recently, and I am still sorting through the rubbish. How could we ignore the blessing of a Jewish person recognizing Jesus, so wonderful. But I have struggled with many gentile believers wanting desperately to go back to the observance of the law. I am not talking about a few people like we had in the 90s. Its literally every second Christian has some or other twist on Moses and wants to keep the law for righteousness. Don't they have the same new Testament I have, about no flesh being justified by works of law. The law was a mirror that flattened the world and let us see and feel our fallen state. A beautiful, perfect thing showing us our fallen state. But God cares for man, so he says he takes no pleasure in burnt offerings, new moons and Sabbaths, seeing as they fell short of justifying and reconciling us. Now we have righteousness by faith in Jesus, why are these hordes going back to Moses. I don't understand the roots thing. Romans clearly states that both Jews and Gentiles are branches. The Jews are true branches and the Gentiles grafted branches, but both are branches, the root is God. Here there is a distinction seeing as any branch can be broken off without affecting the tree. If we want to go back to our roots, surely its our creator that is the root, Jesus. Paul seemed also to make distinction, showing that neither being a Jew, or from Benjamin, a Hebrew of Hebrews, perfect in the law, was literally like dung compared to knowing Jesus. So we cannot rely on the flesh, ie our culture, roots, or anything else, but the God Man Jesus, who is directly available to every human without going through a country, culture, politician, or legal system. Thanks for the reply,

It wasn’t until after the destruction of the Temple that Rabbinical Judaism became the authoritative point of view and by then Jesus had already passed on the authority to the Apostles when He gave them the authority of binding and loosening.

The Greek word translated as "destroy" in Mat 5:17 is different from the word for "abolished" used in Eph 2:15. The word “destroy” means to totally obliterate the law. While the word "abolished" literally means to "loose", "deliver from”, “put away”, “cease”, “make void” but does not literally mean to totally destroy the law.
If the law were totally obliterated or destroyed, then what will God judge the unbeliever by? No, Christ did not come to totally destroy or obliterate the law; He came to abolish and put an end to the law for the believer Rom 10:4. The law will still be in effect for those who choose to remain under the curse of the Law Gal 3:10 Rom 3:19. The Law was not made for the righteous but for the ungodly to begin with 1Ti 1:9. For those who are ruled by grace, the law has none effect Rom 4:14. The New Testament Scriptures have made it plain and clear that, for the believer, the Law was done away with 2Co 3:14, ended Rom 10:4, abolished Eph 2:15, changed Heb 7:11-12, blotted out Col 2:14, and nailed to the cross Col 2:14. If the modern Bibles say that Jesus did NOT “abolish” the Law in Mat 5:17, then what do you do with the verse that says he DID “abolish” the Law in Eph 2:15.

▸ Keeping the sabbath was part of the law that Christ took away. “He . . . canceled out the certificate of death consisting of decrees against us . . .; and He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross. Therefore no one is to act as your judge in regard to food or drink or in respect to a festival or a new moon or a Sabbath day-things which are a mere shadow of what is to come; but the substance belongs to Christ” (Colossians 2:14-17). Christians are no more obligated to keep the sabbath than the other Old Testament festivals or its food and drink regulations! In fact, we are warned against going back to the Law to justify our practices. To do so severs us from Christ (Galatians 5:1-4).
▸ Death was the God-given penalty for not keeping the sabbath. “Therefore you are to observe the sabbath, for it is holy to you. Everyone who profanes it shall surely be put to death; for whoever does any work on it, that person shall be cut off from among his people. For six days work may be done, but on the seventh day there is a sabbath of complete rest, holy to the Lord; whoever does any work on the sabbath day shall surely be put to death” (Exodus 31:14-15). If, as some suggest, we should still keep the sabbath because of what is said in these Old Testament references, should we enforce the penalty that these same references require?
Let us be content to leave the Sabbath where God put it, part of His ancient covenant with the nation of Israel, a covenant that has been replaced by the gospel of Christ.

@@martykropf421 The Christian lives by the Law of Christ (Law of the Spirit) - We are not under the Mosaic Covenant; therefore, we are not obligated to keep the laws of the Mosaic Covenant. Insofar as we love God and love our neighbor, we keep the law of God in the New Covenant. We uphold the law by faith (Romans 3:31) and by love (Romans 13:8). We are under the Law of Christ (Galatians 6:2) and the Law of the Spirit of Life (Romans 8:2). There is confusion with the Law of Christ and the Law of Moses because they have similar commandments. But, because nine of the Ten Commandments can be found in the New Testament, it does not mean that the Law of Moses is still in effect. If a Christian steals, they break the law of Christ, not the Law of Moses. If we choose to keep part of the law (for example, dietary laws), we are free to do so, but keeping the Law of Moses is neither commanded or expected. To keep part of the Mosaic Law out of the belief that we are obligated to do so is to not have trust in the perfect and complete work of Christ.

So if we want to live like Yeshua did, and we should, why would we try so hard not to obey the ten commandments? Yeshua tells us if we accept Him and be Baptized and remain faithful to the end, we shall be saved! Whether its Saturday or Sunday, we need to obey His commandments of keeping it Holy. In Revelations it says ONLY those who obey and keep Adonai's commandments will be saved!

@@martykropf421 The fact is, Jesus brought all of the laws from the Ten Commandments over into His new covenant, except one - keeping the Sabbath. Christians are not permitted to kill, to steal, to commit adultery, or to covet just as the Ten Commandments say. We must still worship God and only Him and we must still honor our parents. However, a Christian’s obedience must come from the heart, “You shall love the lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.’ this is the first commandment. And the second, like it, is this: ‘you shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ there is no other commandment greater than these.” (Mark 12:30,31). Christians are not under the Ten Commandments, a part of that Old Law. We are under the Law of Christ.

The End of the Sabbath Law
      - What law of commandments separated Jews from Gentiles? The Law of Moses! One of those commandments was to observe the Sabbath. Ephesians 2:11-15
      - Today we are dead to the Law of Moses. That is the same law that said, 'You shall not covet' and also said, 'Remember the Sabbath day; to keep it holy.' The entire Law of Moses was nailed to the cross. Romans 7:4-7
      - The only reason that we are not to covet today is because the Law of Christ commands us! Romans 13:9, Hebrews 10:1, 9
      - Those who appeal to the old law make make themselves a debtor to do the whole old law. Galatians 5:2-3

    • @marriage4life893
      @marriage4life893 2 года назад

      Hello.
Works of the flesh does not coincide with Sabbath, because in Galatians 5, Paul defines what works of the flesh are, and not one of them is observing Sabbath.
Lastly, Sabbath is not works of the flesh because work is not allowed during Sabbath. You cannot work for your salvation because no work in spirit or in flesh is allowed.
God rested on the seventh day from all the work he had done in creation in Genesis. And, he says that the Sabbath is the sign that he created the heavens and the earth in six days in Exodus 31.
Besides, I can live in the love of my husband everyday, but once a year, we have an anniversary set apart from all other days. This idea that you can have Sabbath everyday without practical obedience to the command is a hypocritical, hyper-spiritualized excuse for disobedience. Is it also Christmas and Easter everyday for you, without practical observance of the tradition?
I agree Christ gives us rest from our works of the flesh, but with that victory should produce a faith that works as a result of the hope of salvation we have in Yeshua.
Meanwhile, Paul said in Colossians 2:16-17 that the Sabbath, festivals, and new moons are shadows of things that are to come that find their substance in Christ.
Shadows of what is to come, not past tense but future tense.
Weekly Sabbath is a sign of the rest this world will receive, and the Father who set the example in Genesis, is still extending an invitation to rest with him.
If you love me you will obey my commandments.

Paul also writes in Col 2:16 & 17 "Do not let anyone judge you by what you eat or drink, or with regard to a religious festival, a new moon celebration or A SABBATH DAY. At the end of Acts 15 we even see the council proclaiming that the new converts will learn Moses on Sabbath. The early church kept Sabbath (before the gentile "church" took over.) Also notice when it talks about a shadow of things TO come and things are GROWING old. Christ had already died and risen. Why didn't he say those things had already passed? Revelation tells us that when he establishes the new covenant at his return is when these things come to pass.

Yvonne, the Catholic Church changed the 10 commandments. They removed the 2nd commandment and the fourth commandment to say “remember to keep the Lord’s Day holy. They divided the 10th commandment into 2 commandments. In Col 2:16, Paul is saying “let no one judge you, Christians”. Christians ate different foods. They didn’t eat food sacrificed to idols. They didn’t drink like the pagans. They kept the Biblical feasts, not the pagan festivals. Paul was combatting false teachings in this church-combining ideas from other philosophies and religions with Christian truth. This heresy became Gnosticism. They believed in denying the physical urges of the body. Paul was telling the church “let no one pass judgement on you.” Not the pagans or the gnostics, or the Orthodox Jews. He told them not to let anyone condemn their practices. Instead, they were only to allow Christ to instruct them. In verse 20 he says “therefore if you died with Christ from the basic principles of the world, do you subject yourselves to regulations-do not touch, do not taste, do not handle, which all concern things which perish with the using-according to the commandments and doctrines of men? (Not the commandments of God). These things indeed have an appearance of wisdom and self-imposed religion, false humility, neglect of the body (Gnosticism), but are of no value against the indulgence of the flesh.” He said to them “So walk in Him, rooted and built up in Him, and established in the faith, as you have been taught, abounding in it with Thanksgiving.” The early church kept the Sabbath and holy days and Paul taught the Gentiles to keep them. He told the members who were feasting according to God’s festival and Sabbath laws to carry on. He was combatting the philosophies and traditions of men. We need to do this too. We need to obey the commandments of God and not the traditions of men. We have been grafted into Israel. The Sabbath concerns us. Jesus kept the Sabbath. The disciples kept the Sabbath. Paul kept the Sabbath. The Sabbath command was given in Genesis. Matt 5:19, Jn 13:17, Rom 7:12,25, 1 Jn 3:4, Rom 3:20, Rom 7:7, Eccles 12:13, Matt 5:17, Deut 4:40, Jn 4:24. God’s commandments are the truth. Rev 22:14 says “Blessed are they that do His commandments, that they may have the right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates of the city.” Rev 14:12 says “Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus. Peter writes, “For to this you were called, because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that you should follow His steps.:Who committed no sin.” Jesus kept the 10 commandments. He kept them and he was the perfect Lamb.
      James 2:21-23
Sunday was the day when pagans worshipped. The Roman Catholic Church was influenced by pagan religions, mysticism, and Gnosticism. . The Jews were greatly blessed by God as His chosen people, who were to serve as representatives of godliness to heathen nations, to evangelize those godless nations and to show them God’s live. The Sabbath was set apart for God’s people. The Sabbath will be observed after Christ’s return. “Everyone who keeps from defiling my Sabbath and holds fast My covenant (The Sabbath was a convent b/t God and Israel) -even them I will bring to My holy mountain, and make them joyful in My house of prayer. “ Is 56:6-7. “And it shall come to pass that from one new moon to another (month) and from one Sabbath to another, All flesh shall come to worship before me.” says the Lord. Is 66:23. This is proof the the New moon monthly holidays will be celebrated in God’s Kingdom, and on the Sabbaths we will worship God. The promised future rest is Jesus. The Sabbath is a shadow of things to come, but Jesus is the substance. Jesus is the one through whom God created all things, the Sabbath included. He created it for our benefit. The day does matter. God commands us to keep the Sabbath day holy. REMEMBER. He begins His commandment with this. God didn’t bless and sanctify the 1st day, the 2nd, or any other day. We obey Him because we love him! Yahweh is the oNLY authority we should obey. The majority is not always right. What matters is what the Bible says. The Law is the standard of heaven. Sunday being the Sabbath day is a myth. It is a myth created by the Catholic Church.
If the devil does the opposite of god, and God’s plan is 6-1, wouldn’t it make sense that the devil’s plan is 1-6? Ps 1 says “Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stands in the path of sinners, nor sits in the seat of the scornful.” We can’t walk according to the commandments of man, theological seminaries, nor the Catholic Church, but how God decreed it. 1Jn 3:4 says “sin is the transgression of the law.” You can’t trust your heart. You’ve got to do it His way. The issue is one of authority.

When Jesus was alive he had not finished the work on the Cross. Once he shed his blood he became the sabbath. He said “it is finished”

    • @kac0404
      @kac0404 3 года назад +3

@@kac0404 Answer me this question: Do we still need to keep the 10 commandments?

    • @kac0404
      @kac0404 3 года назад +3

@@streetsofgold4112 The fact is, Jesus brought all of the laws from the Ten Commandments over into His new covenant, except one - keeping the Sabbath.

The video is titled "Messianic Jews don't even keep the Sabbath" but Dr Brown talks about ultra-orthodox Jews and never once mentions Messianic Jews. Is there confusion among the two groups or was that implied that Messianics don't keep Shabbat quite like the orthodox group?

    • @jamescobrien
      @jamescobrien 6 лет назад

In order for Messianics to keep the Sabbaths, they must have a gathering place where they can tarry (stay put) without leaving for twenty-four hours. The To'rah commands us to stay put and not travel on the Sabbaths. The To'rah commands us to have a holy gathering for a twenty-four hour gathering time. The To'rah commands to not kindle fire on the Sabbath, to basically cease from all secular things. To pray, praise, magnify God, to seek God's face, to basically have revival gatherings for a twenty-four hour period, ie. Friday evening until Saturday evening. The ancient Israelites would gather all day on Sabbaths to pray, praise, bow down, magnify, glorify, give acclamation, and fellowship until the whirlwind of fire, cloud or fog, and radiant energy would literally appear. That's what happens when they keep the Sabbaths as the To'rah commands.

The Torah does say to have a holy convocation but does not say it needs to be 24 hours, that is adding to Torah. The command not to go out in context was not to go out to collect manna on the seventh day because there would not be any manna that day. Exodus 16. Blessings

The Torah forbids kindling fire, so vehicles operating on the Sabbaths are out of the question. Not allowed to ride horses, mules, or donkeys on the Sabbath neither.

@@jamescobrien If you are trying to keep the sabbath according to man it will be very difficult.
Kindling, or building, a fire is not allowed. We are to give our animals rest. This is why we see people in scripture walking on the sabbath versus riding animals on sabbath (for the most part). Now we have cars and can drive to a meeting place. If you believe that is gathering firewood and kindling and lightning a fire, then don't do it. Clearly it goes against your conscience if that is what you believe you are doing. I don't think driving a car is kindling a fire. It doesn't matter to me if a rabbi who doesn't have the Holy Spirit says that is kindling a fire, what does that have to do with my relationship with Jesus? However, one could just as easily meet with other believers on-line these days (and many do) so if you really have a problem with driving a car there are other options. I've done both. Sabbath is set aside for rest and relaxation and for meditating on God's word. It's a delight. God bless you brother.

However, the Law covenant became in a sense "obsolete" when God announced by means of the prophet Jeremiah that there would be a new covenant. (Jer. 31:31-34; Heb. 8:13) In 33 C.E. the Law covenant was canceled on the basis of Christ's death on the torture stake (Col. 2:14), the new covenant replacing it.---Heb. 7:12; 9:15; Ac. 2:1-4.

Do some Messianic Synagogue ever worship in Saturday night?
Last night I had a talk with 2 very dear friends of mine; twice a week we've been carpooling to Christian Church. I let them know that I feel convicted to start worshiping on the Sabbath and I told them about my great experience at Messianic Synagogue last week. and that I've even signed up for the New Member's class. They were not exactly blessed by this news. They told me that I don't Have to worship during the Sabbath, because several years ago she visited a Synagogue with a friend and the service was on a Saturday night... which happens to be the same time that our Church meets.

But for a sampling this could be a shotgun blast for all the Orthodox Jews blinded by the teaching that Shabat is a day (to do this or not to do that), instead of a day of liberation. Even some of us Messianic Jews can get discouraged by a message so negative without a little more emphasis on the difference between man made tradition and the Grace of God. We still observe Shabat; not to get right with God, but because we are the Righteousness of God in Yeshua our Messiah. How about a lesson on how a Loving God has not abandoned Israel.

The choice is not between rabbinic Babylonian distortions and Christianity.
It was the rabbis' misunderstanding of HaMashiach that spawned Christianity. If the Jews won't accept their Divinity and live like it, how can the Gentiles be clear about Who Mashiach is.
The choice is between the lies of the Talmud, the lies of Christianity and the Truth of Torat Emet - the Ancient Way of The Mothers and Fathers, The Prophets and the Judges.
