Dozens of suspects charged in sexual abuse investigations in Ontario

- Ontario Provincial Police say they have laid hundreds of charges in a series of investigations into child sexual abuse.
Police say the investigations were carried out over 10 days in February and led to the arrest of dozens of suspects accused of making, possessing and distributing child sexual abuse material.
Investigators say 64 people have been charged with a total of 348 offences, and more than 600 devices have been seized.
The suspects range in age from 16 to 67.
Police allege one of the people charged was in possession of 21 terabytes of data containing child sexual abuse material.
They say 34 victims have been identified and 30 children safeguarded.
Why aren't those people's faces being shown, since this is such a terrible crime against Children.
Because then many will be charged with murder instead of having a real trial.

Not so fun fact: The average sentence served, in Canada, for physically sexually abusing a child is 18 MONTHS. I suspect these monsters won’t come anywhere close to serving that, if anything at all.
Because punishment isn’t the most effective way to address it. There isn’t enough jail space for all those involved in this kind of activity.
Rejecting important and necessary censorship of these kinds of activities has been distorted, for corporate benefit only.
Parents should take the matter in their own hands after 18 months.. no justice for most kids tho.. absolute pathetic system

Awesome! Great news! There should be a full time task force if there was 64 people caught in only 10 days! Imagine the scope of the problem if that many were caught in such a short amount of time. Imagine the kids that could be saved and the creeps put away if there was a full time team in every major city in Canada. Let's do this people. The worst of the worst need to go. Great job OPP!
That's exactly what I was thinking. There needs to be a department permanently dedicated to doing what this task force did over 10 days.
There needs to be a bipartisan, multi-faceted approach. Not just after the fact, once a crime is committed. Preventing it is the best way to help kids before the trauma.
And takes more focus than just in this kind of crime.
Cool, but we need them named and shamed too.

I'm not sure but I think in Ontario being convicted of charges like this carries pretty big penalties. They are being charged under Ontario provincial laws not weak federal laws. Some of these guys better be ready to go to prison for a long time!
Look at the sentencing guidelines. They will hardly pay for their crimes.

you must not be a Canadian because criminal law in Canada is only federal, there is no provincial criminal law.

@@James-nq8eh I am Ontarian actually so yeah I'm Canadian. I thought that Ontario and Quebec assert their own jurisdiction when it comes to criminal matters.
