    I passed through the mountains between Nashville and Chattanooga last week with the battery at "0" in my wrangler 4xe. Never lost hybrid power.

    It never loses hybrid power about 20% of full battery capacity is reserved and always maintained despite what readout says. The power is ALWAYS there.

    Very detailed review Alex. If the battery pack is depleted, how can the engine be started, unless a residual battery charge is maintained for starting. Also, is there a way to jump start the 4xe?

    • @EVBuyersGuide
      @EVBuyersGuide  Год назад

      Hybrids always reserve a tiny portion of the battery, but also the 12v system is used for the initial start of the vehicle so that way it can be jumped if needed.

    This is basically GM’s two mode hybrid system from 2005 developed with BMW and Mercedes. Guess what the price of oil was then. This is the same/similar system rejuvenated/reincarnated with a plug in lithium ion battery. No surprise in hybrid only mode it only increases mpg by 2 mpg which is exactly what it did in the Tahoe in 2005. Now engineered and made by ZF and the only things that make it more compelling today besides the hp and torque are 25 miles of electric range, lower emissions, a 7500 tax credit and high gas prices.

    It is amusing, how a plug in hybrid, can L2 charge over 2X as fast as the Spark (B) EVs.....

    You describe the engine as producing 270 hp but the jeep page indicates the engine produces 375 hp. Is this a different engine?

    • @EVBuyersGuide
      @EVBuyersGuide  Год назад

      270 is the output of the engine alone, engine + motor is 375.
