@@jeffgill420 I always wondered, if you were the devil wouldn't you invent god for people to believe in so you have control over them? It is obviously easier to do something if you believe is good, so the easiest trick the devil could do is just disguising his work as good. Because if God exists, why does the Devil exist? The Devil is either omnipotent as well, which kinda ruins the whole omnipotency thing or the Devil exists because God wants the devil to exist or god is not omnipotent and can't actually do anything against him. Also given that bad people go to hell and are punished there isn't the Devil actually a good guy? That was always a confusing thing for me. It’s is easier to control someone who doesn’t believe in a god or religion. If you don’t believe there are repercussions for your actions on earth you can be convinced to do anything. If you hold a gun to two peoples heads, one is religious and the other is not, and tell them “you will be killed if you don’t (insert immoral action, for this example let’s say) kill your mother” A moral person backed by the belief they will burn for eternity if they do this would rather die. But a moral person who believes death means the end with nothing by the same unconsciousness for everyone could and will convince themselves “my mother is older and has lived a full life” “she wouldn’t want me to die for her” “if I die I can’t do anymore good deeds on this earth and I still have things I need to do”

@@Flat_Earth_Sophia You can't claim a model doesn't work or does work without showing the math behind it. That's part of what it means to have a model. You have to explain all observed motion with mathematical formulas. And when you want to claim that a person's model says this would happen or this would happen, you have to support that by showing that their claimed formulas do what you say. A good example of this is the spinning wet tennis ball thing and trying to use that to claim that water on earth would fly off. This is an incredibly bad attempt at showing that the globe earth model is wrong. This is because the globe earth model says that objects behave according to the net forces acting on them, that the forces cause acceleration according to Newton's 2nd law of motion (F=ma, see math!), that gravitational force/acceleration is found using Newton's law of universal gravitation (again math), and that centripetal acceleration is given by the centripetal acceleration formula (again math). To claim that the tennis ball is a good representation of what's happening with the earth, you would have to show that centripetal force overcomes gravitational force in both examples. This would require you to plug the parameters of the tennis ball into the formulas and show which is bigger, it's gravitational force or the centripetal force when you spin it. Then you would have to do the same for the globe earth. If you did, you would find the gravitational force on the tennis ball is tiny compared to the centripetal force of spinning it like flat earthers do when they make this claim. But for the globe, the centripetal force is miniscule and completely dwarfed by the Earth's gravitational force. So water flinging of a spinning tennis ball and clinging to the globe earth is entirely consistent with the claims and laws of physics. But you wouldn't know that unless you did the math. There are so many other examples, but essentially every time you claim a model says something would happen you have to show why the math says that or you don't really know the model says that. This is also why flat earth doesn't have a model, they have produced no mathematical equations to explain the motion we observe. That's what it means to have a physical law. Every physical law is a math formula that explains how something works. If you don't have that, you don't have a physical model. If you don't check those, you can't claim a model is right or wrong. TL:DR, you haven't checked the math, it doesn't work out, and it does matter. All physics laws are math formulas. Showing that those formulas work or don't is really the main thing that matters if you're trying to claim a physical law is right or wrong.
@@kalitor as far as I've seen the flat earth model has no predictive ability. It's proponents can not predict or calculate any natural phenomena. The last full solar eclipse over NW N America was successfully predicted to the millisecond and exact locations it could be seen. Years before it occured. Their model can not predict something so common and constant as variations in tidal times and heights. They have no explanation as to why ocean gyres move in opposite directions I'm the the N and S hemispheres. Or why naval artillery uses correction tables to aim when in different hemispheres. And when firing N S direction vs E W direction.

It isn't like the Devil applauds bad people and gives them presents once they are dead, they are damned to eternal suffering and he doesn't actually do anything against good souls, so why exactly is he bad.
@@jeffgill420 the devil left heaven on his own. He knew god, he knew the writings, he knew everything god knew. If he wanted to overthrow, why hide? Why not come amass an army? Why is him being exactly the same as god a benefit and why is it so great that everyone who denies god also can't find the devil?
It’s is easier to control someone who doesn’t believe in a god or religion.
If you don’t believe there are repercussions for your actions on earth you can be convinced to do anything.

We have though. Not that it matters. Nor is it necessary.
@@Flat_Earth_Sophia You haven't though. And it does matter. And it is necessary.

They just decide she is guilty for lying and she tricks them by asking for the death penalty, but she gets to choose her form of execution.
She chooses to be tossed off the edge of the flat earth as her execution.
A few months later, they all return home because they just walked around the earth and never found the edge haha

11:30 OMG. That funny clip with this tiny boat. With a guy who wear a t-shirt. Looks perfeclty like an expedition of 3000km (!) to go to Antarctica.
As if that tiny boat would even manage to get through the pack ice when it takes an ice reinforced ship with 2MW engines and even that gets stuck at times. I have been to Antarctic 4 times and well into the continent.
Nevertheless it's good ol' flat earther evidence...
I know you said you weren't going to use Bob Knodel's "15 degree per hour drift" again, but I'm so glad you did. Despite his beliefs, it's good to remember him with fondness like an old sparring partner, but deep down, I think he realised the world wasn't flat but couldn't change sides. Thanks Dan. Thanks Bob.

Got a kick out of it when they tried to claim the globe was a prison and put a cage around it when flat earthers think we are covered by a dome.
It is a prison. You do realise that it is metaphorical, not literal, right?
No we don't. Why would we be covered by a dome?
@@Flat_Earth_Sophia Well you should inform other flat earthers then because many claim that there is a dome that covers the earth and that space doesn't exist though that is hilarious as there would be no reason for a dome then. They do this because they deny gravity is what is holding the atmosphere so close to earth because gravity on an object the size of the earth would make it spherical not flat as we can observe with the other planets and moons in our solar system. It's all pretty comical though as flat earthers can't even provide a single measurement to support a flat earth or a functioning flat earth map while they rely upon globe earth map projections and gps for turn by turn directions.
Nobody need to make flerfers look stupid, they do it all by themselves.
Thank you for all this, Dan! Your facepalm protection must have taken a battering! 😄
Whoa! A flat earther stacked some rocks! That has got to be their greatest achievement ever!

I love that they said in that section "inertia would knock these rocks over" as if rocks on a spinning earth wouldn't be in motion, and therefore stay in motion with the earth. It's like they know science words, but not what the words mean. Actually, probably not "like" that, that's probably exactly what it is.
He's right in saying there's no 8" per mile squared. That's a flerf-made equation that traces out a parabola, not a circle.
A long time ago some flerf read a civil engineering handbook which presented that equation as a reasonable approximation of curvature for quick "back-of-the-envelope" calculations. The flerf then included that in his book as "the formula" for curvature (presumably because he couldn't understand the correct formulae).
@@VitalVampyr well, what do you expect from a primary-school dropout? the scumbag didn't have the education to understand that.
It is pretty accurate for moderate distances, though not as they typically use it.
I've used it several times to verify that I'm using a circular arc/chord calculator correctly (e.g. for the "hump" in the middle of the floor of the Sydney Opera House or in the water in an Olympic -size swimming pool).
I've heard a few flerfs say "eight inches per square mile" which is pretty funny.

The scale of the Earth, solar system and universe to our daily life IS mind boggling. So it is understandable how the 'flat earth' community are confused. Keep at it Dan! I really enjoy your channel.
Quite right. Even at his 'trillion miles a year' (not sure if he has the right number), Polaris (433 lyr away) will only move about 1/4 of a degree across the sky in 10000 years!!! (discounting precession). The earth's precession, with it's period of 26000 years has a bigger effect on the position of Polaris than the tremendous speed the solar system is moving. (oh, and BTW, don't forget that while our own sun moves through the milky way, so do the other stars).
Fantasy and fiction. I say sun is local and solar system is a myth. The only reason you believe this nonsense is because you were indoctrinated
Earth is 238,855 miles from the Moon on average...
Earth is 33.9 Million miles from Mars at it's closest...
Earth is 2.7 Billion miles to Neptune at it's closest...
The closest Star, Proxima Centauri, is aprox Two trillion, five hundred billion miles away...
The United States of America is 2,892 miles wide at the widest.
Cordoba, Spain and Hamilton, New Zealand are about 12,400 miles apart (nearly opposite sides of Earth)
