I like how you kept your promise when you said you’ll buy the controller if the video got 100k likes. Other RUclipsr’s don’t actually keep their promises. Thank you!! 😀
Thank you for the part 2! Also thanks for making it relatively obvious in the thumbnail that it's part 2. Just the picture works great. People try to blast bubble text all over their thumbnail. I like it clean.
No, Navy subs don't use co sol controllers. A wired game controller would still be stupid because its a spark hazard, and a flimst but of unreliable tech anyway.
Wireless was also not the issue, they used carbon fiber composites to save weight but they can't withstand compressive pressure like a submersible would experience. They also did a lot of test dive with the same sub but didn't fatigue test it.
It's actually like nearly the best controller I ever tried I have the same exact one it's been with me for more than 6 years and still works like new even having vibration
This video has excellent depth to it that no other video has... at least the batteries didn't implode on you after all these years. And at least you could sea what it was like to control it.
I might not recommend you controll major stiff by bluetooth, but game controllers work excellently, are mass produced, and have drivers for Windows and Linux. The only issues are keeping the batteries charged, and making sure you have a good connection. Also, a backup methoed of control for emergencies would be awesome.
Hell the US military uses Xbox controllers for things like bomb disposal robots and unmanned airplanes. Maybe not the best option for a life-or-death role with no backup, but first-party gamepads are well designed and built to last for tons of operating hours.
@@SomeoneYouHateafter remake hull they renamed that submersible to titan I like to think future journeys be fine if no carbon fibre and if a submarine could reach that depth to act like a capture system before submersible has issues
Military forces around the world use this controller for drones and vehicles. It's not abnormal for a submarine or a similar vessel to be controller by this controller or a Xbox 369 controller.
I just simply can't imagine the thought process of the company's board of directors when they decided that using a video game controller from over a decade ago to drive a submersible with actual humans in it down to a area in the ocean where there is extreme amounts of pressure being exerted by water which could easily be fatal. Especially when the knew that the people inside of the submersible were going to be humans.
Im pretty sure while moving you put both your index and thumb on the joysticks so its easier to use (this is a wild guess it just seems easier and more comfortable that way)

I’m glad you took a deep dive into this controller
It's not that it was controlled by a controller. In fact, some us navy subs use controllers. It's that it was a WIRELESS controller
No, Navy subs don't use co sol controllers. A wired game controller would still be stupid because its a spark hazard, and a flimst but of unreliable tech anyway.
Was the least worrying thing about the submarine anyway
@@horsemumbler1 some actually use Xbox controllers

The best Review ever. Worth a sub.
“Hey did we bring extra batteries?these ones ran out.”
*Famous Last Words*
You’re supposed to pinch the stick extensions. It’s for more precise movements. A lot of drone controllers have thin sticks for the same reasons.

The DEPTH of that controller is just amazing
I think they set it on the floor and had the extensions for accuracy so riders could basically just hold the ends to control it
