Wow! My home town has changed so much. I recall when the river ran right up Lemon Quay and the bus station was where Marks & Spencer etc is now. Across the quay (Back Quay) was the the BMC car dealer (HTP Motors) on the corner with Green Street. This is the same HTP as the converted building. My dad's office was 65 Lemon Street and my mum worked for the water company which had their offices in Pydar Street, down a bit from the library. As a kid at Penwether's CS School, we ran cross country along that lane behind County Hall. I remember it being built, too! I miss Truro. How things have changed...
oh what a nice hike around the city through nature on the old railway line like through a tunnel of trees back to the city with the great houses and the cathedral. Thank you for the nice video. Stay healthy, best regards Günte
Thank you again for a lovely walk around Truro. In Cape Cod , Massachusetts USA there is a town called Truro where my mother fell in love with the huge sand dune bluffs over looking the sea! A memorable vacation when I was around 7 years old. 🥰😊❤️
Some of the hometown tracks my father and I used to walk with the little family dog when I was a youth have been converted to walking/bike trails. I miss the tracks but welcome the semi-preserved natural setting. I'd like to take a stroll around Truro one day. Lovely place!
I know this market well and you captured the atmosphere beautifully, Geoff. Also pleased to see the 'MUSEUM' sign still there; I painted this 30 years ago!
A fabulous walk again from you both and again, such interesting facts too 👌. My hubby still works for Cornwall Council, so I'll ask him if he knows about the concrete cancer. Love your book with all those bits of information on the churches 👌. Well done with finding those graves...you are experts at that now I feel 😉. The history on the Cathedral and the previous church was so interesting as well as the first stone layed by the Prince of Wales... typical that it was being hidden by a great big ugly sign 😋. I'm definitely going to be more observant when I go to Truro in future...thanks again for another brilliant walk 😁👏💝😘
Interesting video, and a lovely walk which I've done myself a couple of times. Wondering walking along the old railway, so peaceful yet so close to the centre of Truro, a fabulous city. Many thanks Sarah and Andrew.
We love to visit Truro and of course the Cathedral, when you come out side you can pick up your pasty from Warrens . A lovely walk of city and countryside combined and really inspires us to to do that walk next time we are down , a lovely interesting and entertaining walk guys , one of your best we loved it ,,,,,,,,Brian&Jane ::)
Thanks again for an interesting walk. My Mom can't get around much now so she loves to go on your walks with you via your videos. Keep up the good work 👍🥟🥟
Really beautiful walk I normally walk this route quite often as my house is on part of the walk. Such a shame I missed you two go past as normally in the garden all day
Another great walk. Very interesting and also enjoyable to watch. I’ve never been to Cornwall but I really do enjoy watching your videos. Thanks for sharing them with us.
What a beautiful walk! Thank you so much for your channel! I’ve been enjoying going through all of your older videos. My husband is going through a major health battle and there are times I’m so stressed out, that I cannot think straight. But, I play one of your videos and my brain calms down. I feel like I’m walking with a couple of fun friends and learning about gorgeous Cornwall! I hope someday I can see it in person. Many many thanks to you both! And your sweet doggies! ❤️
What a lovely walk around Truro Sarah and Andrew. I always loved going to Truro Cathedral and doing some shopping in the city centre. Always a great time for me it was. 🦔👍
Another wonderfully humorous and informative tour, your canine friend always seems very interested in your commentary Sarah, maybe he is a reincarnate of one of Andrews relatives, I’m sure if he could speak he would have us in stitches, another thing, I have never known Andrew to be flat out of jokes, and I wouldn’t like to have to cross that first bridge in a high wind with nothing but barbed wire between you and oblivion, plus a graveyard with a sense of humour! Fabulous! I’m never comfortable around gravestones ever since as a young girl I was obliged to wander around them with my parents, and accidentally stepped on one and it collapsed beneath me and I had to be hauled out by my father, I have the occasional nightmare to this day! 😱 thanks again Sarah and Andrew for a lovely tour around Truro with your happy 😃 smiling 😊 faces 🤗 p.s. I was very impressed with the corpse gate!! 😳
Thank you for another interesting and enjoyable walk. It was odd for me the first time visiting the UK to see 200 year-old buildings with neon signs for modern businesses on the ground floor. Yes, the Nottingham Market Square has pizza restaurants and copy centers! Too many years of watching period dramas from BBC (where it was still the Victorian Era or 18th Century in my head) left me a bit in shock. LOL. Love cemeteries, and huzzah for finding the cornerstone.
Excited about this walk Truro to is a beautiful city. The rivers joining together is similar to Sacramento California. Does it ever flood in the winter. Doggie really liked this walk.👟👟🐕⛅
Fortunately, Truro does not flood. Not sure if it has in the past, whether there are some flood defences. It is a long way up the river from Falmouth, so probably not threatened with flooding. Really great walk, Sarah :)
What an interesting walk on an autumn day. One ''rule'' of walking in cities is always to look up to find hidden things from the past as the building at 3.56 proves. So many interesting features are found just by glancing upwards, or sometimes down to the ground! Cornwall's Richard Trevithick is buried in a cemetery near me & you have to really look for the plaque on the wall as he has no memorial. He was buried in a pauper's grave despite being so prolific back in the day. Such an entertaining vid with both your history talks! I love that old book you take around with you......but I bet it's a bit heavy to carry up and down the hills & steps! Especially on a 5 mile hike! xJx
What a lovelly walk around the city of Truro. 🙂We spent a week in St.Mawes one summer and took a touristboat up the river to Truro,a very interesting boatride. The city and the cathedral was also a nice place to visit.
As always a good and entertaining video 😊👍🏻 I now got the inspirasjon to perhaps make time for a visit in Cornwall's only city, when we are in the coastal area nearby - like St. Mawes or Falmouth 😊 Rhe surroundings look beautiful and the cathedral is great. Torunn 😊
@@CornishWalkingTrails We would like to, but are not sure we can include it in 2022 due to a quite narrow time frame if we get accommodation for walking in June (whch we would love to). But thank you for the tip 🙂 We will perhaps make it next year, and if not, in 2023. Torunn 🙂
Good video Sarah and Andrew. Truro Cathedral is very impressive and I enjoyed your trip to the cemetery in Kenwyn. I'm sure I have ancestors buried there but what happened to the graveyard at the end of video? LOL.
Awesome video,,, could they not dredge the canal? I love when, just as Sarah asked "where did they put the grave yard" the bells put a gag order on her,,, dont ask. dont ask...

Wonderful and stunning as always and the jokes are back! :) 😀
Hi Sarah and Andrew. Really enjoyed you walk around Turo country side. Live the contrast between city and countryside. Marie

Sounds great! There seem to be so many shared place names, Sarah :)
Thank you for another walk beautiful Autumn 🍂 day Truro great scenery

Love the church bells.

So much of interest in Truro, apart from the obvious shopping!! Sarah :)
Thank you for the walk Sarah & Andrew, that's one for next year all ready. Love railway walks as they are not as steep for my 80 yr old legs!
It was a very pleasant, gradual climb - much easier than anticipated! Sarah :)
Just one of best...although must admit love all of your walking trails. thank you.
Interesting video, and a lovely walk which I've done myself a couple of times. Wondering walking along the

It is a great combination of country and city, with all of the cafes and restaurants waiting at the end of the walk, Sarah :)
Thanks again for an interesting walk.

Keep up the good work 👍🥟🥟
Another lovely walk around cornwall
I never realised how nice Truro was. I must visit. Also, how *adorable* is Andrew with a beard? 😉 Sorry Sarah!
Thank you for going down those steps at 9:00 I have always been really curious and being in a wheelchair I could never do it.
Those steps were steep and so strewn with damp autumn leaves, it was a challenge! Sarah :)
Lovely interesting walk, love that original building! I see Andrew is wearing his winter warmer beard 🧔♂️, thank you for another lovely walk x
Really beautiful walk I normally walk this route quite often as my house is on part of the walk. Such a shame I missed you two go past as normally in the garden all day
Awww! Yes! What a shame - we could have had a well earned cuppa! Sarah :)
Another great walk. Very interesting and also enjoyable to watch. I’ve never been to Cornwall but I really do enjoy watching your videos. Thanks for sharing them with us.
🙂 Great vid today👍Thank you ❤
Wonderful,X

Your voices always cheer us up and ofcourse we adore every bit of yr walks. I do hope we will be able to travel next year. Xx
Fingers crossed! Sarah :)

What a wonderful story - I would not like to fall into a grave! Sarah :)

That's funny! Yes, we are up to date these days, lol! Sarah :)

Trevithick's story is very interesting, a son of Camborne! Andrew is a trooper, carrying the King's England book! Sarah :)
What a great walk !, I think Joseph Emidy is in Kenwyn Churchyard too.
Yes! We thought we might cover that in a separate video for Patreon. Might be worth a visit to the Museum first though, Sarah :)

Falmouth would be so easy - take the branch line directly in to Truro, would recommend a visit to the cathedral, it's beautiful! Sarah :)

The lychgate ( the entrance to the grave yard) has a post box on the wall, are there giants around there to be able to post a letter lol
Good video Sarah and Andrew. Truro Cathedral is very impressive and I enjoyed your trip to the cemetery in Kenwyn. I'm sure I have ancestors buried there but what happened to the graveyard at the end of video? LOL.
Oh, now that's interesting! I wonder where! Sarah :)
Aah! In Yorkshire the Anglo Saxon word for a corpse is a 'lyke' Must be the same thing as your Cornish 'lych' Very interesting!
Oh wow, sounds so similar! Sarah :)
Awesome video,,, could they not dredge the canal? I love when, just as Sarah asked "where did they put the grave yard" the bells put a gag order on her,,, dont ask. dont ask...
It felt like that - "I will hold on to my secret" Sarah :)
Don't really like Truro itself but looks like a nice walk outside the city until the traffic blares out lol.....
Indeed! Sarah :)
