Heco should have provided generators and fuel in addition to the repairs.

Time for another company to provide power for Hawaii. Instead of this one company monopoly corruption.

People wonder why I live off grid.. sorry but I'm not going to be inconvenienced by a government that can't manage itself let alone the utilities..

only offering to pay out for damaged items, but not lost wages. how low will HECO go, if they're saying the problem is only underground?

Here’s the theory. Downtown area is about 2-3 feet above sea level. Which means the underground utilities are buried at or below sea level. With ocean rise and flooding, every time there’s a heavy rain the electric lines are underwater and they’re shorting out. Hawaii electric doesn’t want to admit it’s got a huge problem coming up in the next couple decades. This is just the beginning.

and the government wants people to buy more electric vehicles. The grid can't handle that kind of demand. More money needs to be spent to upgrade the grid

@prst99 they could have caused the fire working on replacing equipment. The fire was underground, so it was not set . The man being interviewed said they are replacing equipment . Apparently, somehow, wires overheated. I think they did not think that a fire would occur . Until cables overheated.
