Absolutely and I also wanna say following a hair chart system by a white man that said our hair is the least versatile is also damaging. There has to be a better way to give extra love and attention to black women with the tightest textures without using hair charts like that. I prefer greenbeauty channel's hair chart

Yes 4c can be manageable but yet time consuming. I think when we (the 4c community) look at other textures, we are primarily looking at the time needed to bring 4c hair alive. So yes we are happy with our 4c hair but the time needed to appreciate our natural is insane. Please let us know of natural styles, with our own hair, that we can do that takes less than 10 minutes.

I used to envy girls who can execute twist-outs, wash and go, pineapple, and other styles, but I've come to realize it's either my 4b/4c hair can't do those things, or I'm doing something wrong. Comparison is the theft of joy! Instead of envying them for their genetics, I can do research and work with what I have. Do your research, find a Black dermatologist to look at your hair/scalp, eat healthy foods, drink water, and exercise.

I have an assortment of 4 a,b, c hair. Once I realized I was watching influencers with silky loose curls - not like mine, I found influencers whose hair looked and behaved like mine. I researched to find products that worked on my kinks, changed my diet, water consumption, sleep habits and finally remembering how my mother and grandmother took care of my hair, I became comfortable with my hair in it’s natural state. I am now able to look at all influencers to gleam methods, procedures and processes i can use to enhance my hair journey.

I just celebrated 1 year of being natural again and I am loving my hair. The only bad part of my journey to natural hair was figuring out what my hair liked and disliked. As someone with fine low density hair 99.99% of natural hair RUclips is not for me if I want to surround myself with positive images of hair that looks like mine.
Then half the remaining people keep complaining about their fine low density strands.

When I'm in that hair "blue zone" (mine is very fine, thin and stick straight) I remind myself of a joke I heard years ago:
A woman only had 3 hairs on her head. She smiled and thanked God, and said, Today I will braid my hair.
The next morning she finds one has fallen out and she only has 2 hairs. She smiles and says, Thank you Lord, today I will wear two pony tails, one on each side.
The third morning she gets up only to discover only ONE hair remained. No problem, I'll wear it in a pony tail!
And the 4th morning, alas, they are all gone, and she had NO hair--totally bald. She praised the Lord that today, she didn't have to BOTHER with fixing her hair.

What gets me through those days is wearing a hat or headwrap, lol! I focus on detangling, moisturizing, twisting and then covering it up. Even though I do it out of anger, what ends up happening is that when I take the twists down and uncover it, I see how healthy my hair is after it was taken care of and I fall back in love. Otherwise, when I fuss over it and try to force it to do something its not meant for, I end up hurting it and it loses its luster.

When watching videos, if your hair didn't look like mine 4C, and I mean four cee, I would not watch your channel and it would really 😡ed me off if a video had 4C in the title and it wasn't. I guess I got over my hair envy in junior high. When I realized how versatility my hair was, is not a one trick pony, it can be kinky, it can be braided, straight and had it's own volume, not need for products. When I got to be an adult, and had full control over my hair, I remembered how beautiful my hair was when I was a child and started my journey to get back to that hair.

Then I question my my hair don't turn out like other naturals. Sometimes I just ask myself if it's all worth it or should I just give up. I'm just AGGRAVATED & TIRED

So sometimes after dealing with hers I wish my medium density 4c hair could be as dense as hers. But then I remember how lazy I am and I think about how much torture it would've been if we both had the same kind of hair, either both dense, or both needing extra loving care and that helps a bit.
I love my texture now thanks to you and others but being content with my density is a constant struggle. I look for RUclipsrs that have similar hair characteristics as mine and when I find myself envying another's density, I apologize to Ms Thang and send positivity to her

What about naturals with thin or fine hair? We are also not well represented in the media and not even here on RUclips. I think we are even more discriminated against than people with 4 c hair. And it easy for us with this hair type to be envious of you guys and gals with that thick luscious hair no matter what the texture is. But thank you for making this video because as black men and women we have enough struggles with others not loving us and accepting us for who we are that we shouldn’t add to this problem by hating a part of what makes us who we are. Thank you again.

Great content! Everything you said was on point! We all need to appreciate our natural hair for what it is and let no one discourage us from wearing it no matter how tight our coils. Over time I have learned appreciate my combination type 4 hair which is mostly 4b and c.
A few years ago, when I began to feel even a tinge of envy I would get down to moisturizing and protective styling. My hair was always softer and more healthy looking when I did that, and the love came right back.
Failing that, it was experimenting with scarves and half wigs for me. After a few days of the tightness on my head I was back to appreciating my hair as it was.

Every week I was trying new styles and trying to be like the videos forgetting I got a whole Job, whole family and frankly a whole life 😂! I was never, that hair girl and I didn't even grow up in a house that promoted it. So why I thought in my 30s I was going to become a professional stylist via RUclips was ridiculous. So I taught myself with help from a real life hair stylist how to flat twist my hair. For years I would do two flat twist and lately I have been doing it into a style and it is gorgeous. It has been a journey and not something I could put into a 20-30 video. So I say all that to say figure out what you can do best and master that the rest will come. I promise!

Someone with straight hair gets to see their length and don't have SSKs, but they also don't get to experience the springiness of my coils. So while I appreciate certain things about different hair types, I still find things I appreciate about mine. I love how fun my hair is now. It's a matter of getting to a point where you can say, "I think it's great their hair can do this, but I love what my hair can do that theirs can't."

The only thing I struggle with is cornrows and flat twists. My mind will not allow to figure it out....I have been trying to learn how to do it for years and watched tons of tutorials. I have been shamed for being Black and not being able to at least cornrow.

I agree with you, there is a difference between simply admiring someone's hair and envying. I have Type 4 hair. My hair is 4A and low to medium density. With the exception of Bianca Renee, I am subscribed to Type 4 influencers: you, Star Puppy, Latoya Ebony, Jenn J, Naptural85, Hazel Godesss, NaturalReign, etc. I love my hair and its shrinkage because shrinkage gives my low to medium density hair the appearance of volume so I wear wash and gos which I don't fluff out or stretch. Hair density would have been something I was more likely to envy but I really like the ease of handling my hair density so I'm good. You have taught me so much about caring for my hair and I really appreciate you. I have been subscribed for a minute.

I needed to hear this video 😌. I haven’t wore a wig or a sew in sense August. I decided to spend quality time with my own hair. Really spend time and bond with my hair. Just learning to recognize my own’s hair true beauty because i just been wearing protective styles for a whole year. When I would wear my natural hair out I always receive compliments heavily all the time and I really couldn’t understand it 🤔😂. It use to be so frustrating to me because everyone else loves my hair except me. I’m like a 4a/4b and it’s very long and full, these past few months of me taking a break from weave has helped me appreciate my hair more.

'It wasn't giving what YOU thought it should have gave.... but it's actually giving.' If this isn't the 2021 appreciation quote 😶👀
Something/someone cannot be (give) what to YOU think it should be (have gave).... rather you should appreciate what it is. Be present in what you have. You can put in time and effort all day long.... but unless you APPRECIATE what you have then the joy won't come, and you know you deserve the JOY 🥰
P.s you made realise that this cuteness on my head needed a name... She is Glorious as such her name is indeed GLORY 😛😄

I came on RUclips to find extra tips to get mid back length hair. I've been feeling a bit frustrated with my healthy hair that just doesn't get to the length or density that i see other women achieving. When i opened the app, the algorithm suggested this as my first video! I haven't watched it yet, but i sure did need an attitude adjustment.

I have used admiration to get past the funk. I want more and I see others who have achieved it, so I grind. I have 3 distinct textures on my head and no one person can give me what I need visually. So I focus on health and the best potential for me and my hair. I agree that envy takes from you and you then begin to hate. You can't fix what you hate. You can't love properly what you hate. That goes for all of you. People have envy for me and my hair and say oh I wish...why can't mine...but you have.... I tell them what I do and they don't follow through. I always encourage and I give advise and I check back up. This didnt happen over night. I found what my hair needed and I kept at it. Thanks for putting out this video.

I LOVE my hair. She is very manageable because she is moisturized and protein balanced. As for curls, I'm 4a, so I'm defined enough, and I don't mind my (crazy) frizz. BUT...sometimes I DO find myself in an envy state. A lot of the girls have gone natural at work, and when I see their hair hanging (even the tighter 4C haired girls), and mine (no matter what I do) doesn't. I kinda do a little sign. Again, I love my coily afro, but sometimes I just wish I can get that hang time once in a while like the other gals 😔. Im in that state of mind now. So, I'm did a cute headband afro style in my hair for this week. Now I'm back with a smile on my face.
I guess my advise, if you feel envious, just switch up your style ❤.

Yes, Yes, Yes, loved this video! I used to spend hours on watching other people doing their hair, especially with absolutely not my hair type, without not really caring for my own hair. I then would try to buy their products in hoping it will turn exactly like theirs. It really doesn't make sense. Instead of really getting to know my hair, I would spend hours on admiring and envying their hair. I moved on now and love my coils, but still, sometimes a healthy envy is inevitable!! 😂

Every time I see a girl with a beautifully shaped afro I find myself wishing I could get my hair to do that. Just the other day I was watching ALove4Me shape her winter afro. I felt a little sad that I can only get that floppy, not quite rounded afro. I have type 4 hair but I've never been able to style a proper afro and some girls just seem to get them easily as if by magic. It was a brief moment but it passed quickly because I do love my hair I just admire a beautiful afro.

That’s real. I feel ya. The Afro is a style I don’t do that often. If I do I just let it sit hoe it wants to. Lol mine be floppy and lopsided. 🤣🤣
