Since it is impossible to loop video on one exercise here's a practice trick I have developed: 1. Get the "blinky dots metronome" app that Ross uses. It is called "Impulse" and is free (at least the iOS version). 2. Type the notes that Ross provides as a pattern. I use the yellow dot (with "Snare III" sound) for base, the white dot (with "808 II" sound) for snare and the empty dot (with "Switch II" sound) for a ghost note. 3. Slow it down and loop as much as you need :)
Hello! Do u guys recommend any "blinky dots metronome" for Android? This app is only available on the App Store for iOS devices. Thanks from Brazil !!!

Thanks bro ! Awsome video ! I have a question ! I just started cajon ! Im right handed ! And my right hand feels so much more in groove ! While my left feels slow ! Should i focus on the left more to develop it ? All hints tips and tricks much appreciated ! 😊
trickey T.V thanks!! The weaker hand feeling is felt by everyone I think! Me included. A bit of extra time working on your left hand is worth it. It will make rhythms that require both hands to perform on a high level sound and feel better. I don’t think we’ll ever have 2 perfect hands but imagining them as members of the team, we need to make sure we don’t have one let the other down. I hope that helps!
Hi Great Ross! Beautiful video as always (and it isn't something to be said ). One question: in the groove nr. 3 would it sound differently if it were written with triplets and the pause between the two eighth notes to simulate a shuffle pattern? I don't know if I explained myself ...
Hey Gerlando, thanks so much! My music theory isn't great but yes triplets with the middle cut out make a shuffle pattern. Writing out my beat that way would only work for the first spacey part though. The end part where I add in all the ghost notes wouldn't work in triplets I don't think (the count would become 1&A2&A3&A4&A). I still want to play standard 16ths (1e&a2e&a...) but with some flexibility. This "75% swing" feel is really useful when a shuffle is too rigid but you want some looseness in the groove. I hope that helps!!
@@rosslmccallum Dear Ross, thanks again for your reply. Your channel (and I've seen so many) is really the best on YT.
