Didn't turn on afmf for avatar or starfield, or any game people ACTUALLY play, much less test. You're so clearly TRYING to make the 4080 relevant. Make it more obvious you actually care to see the nvidia card on top. Literally only used AFMF in Alan wake and cyberpunk, so were only gonna use afmf in the games the nvidia cards are favored in so you don't tell people the real deal? If anyone even plays these games I'd be shocked but yaknow. Avatar included.
That said if you pick normal titles people ACTUALLY play that already beat the 4080 at a decent fps in most cases the 7900XTX is as fast if not faster than a 4090 in due to afmf now I don't get the absolute lack of talking about this or intentional negligence towards it from people. Nvidia paying yall? Or you scared you won't get sent any more cards or something? Didnt turn on AFMF in the games people do actually play like COD and stuff where the framegen lag would b 5ms and souble the performance of the 4080 after you spent the first half of the video attempting to make it look better. F***, man. Good job using all of the nvidia card and half of the xtx really appreciate the realistic insight to the full potential.
You don't think a 95%performance boost is a good enough step up when nvidia dropped the same card at your own admission?
Oh yeah, you forgot to use that setting alongside RT. How funny. The 4080 is irrelevant and you best hope you not get pregnant d**kriding them that hard saying you'd still buy a 4080 over the xtx after that

Why? You don't have to turn everything to the max you know? If you use reasonable settings and leave off ray tracing most cards can run it fine. Flexibility in game engines is great, I love games that are able to run on affordable hardware yet stress out the high end. And let's be honest in two years/graphics card generations we will be running the game at 144 FPS at max settings.

Funny thing is, that in Poland RTX 4080 Super is actually cheaper than RTX 4080. Prices are (from cheapest to most expensive):
    - RTX 4080 - 1406$ - 1657$ (normal AiO) and 1730$ (water AiO)
    - RTX 4080 Super - 1220$ - 1394$
The problem would be volume and how popular new cards would be. To get comparison prices of RX 7900 XTX are:
    - 1143$ for ASRock Phantom OC
    - 1183$ for PowerColor Hellhound Spectral White
    - 1381$ for Sapphire Nitro+ OC
I'm interested how would those change in a month. Now I don't thing anyone would go and buy RTX 4080. Price is so much different between RX 7900 XTX and with conversion to PLN it is even higher (around 850 PLN between cheapest models). RTX 4080 Super is better, but I still think those cards cost too much and EU tax is killing us even more. I'm waiting for new generation, because prices are too big and I want a little lower power consumption with performance around RX 7900 XT/RTX 4070 Ti Super.

My only concern as someone who likes to get many years (I upgraded to a 7900 XTX from a 390X) out of my GPU and who tends to play AAA titles months to years after the fact is ultimately the VRAM differences. 16GB vs 24GB ... will it matter 6-8 years down the road?

    • @MVPMTKING
      @MVPMTKING 6 месяцев назад +2

I'm guessing current consoles have about 14gb or so of usable unified VRAM (16 minus about 2 for OS) But they 'Target' 4k as a base now so if u don't mind lowering your res in the future you might not need so much. But might also help if we see unoptmized/broken titles.
8 years from now we'll be half way through next gen and might see a PS6 Pro. I expect next gen to have 24-36GB VRAM, as they at least always double, but 24 is aloooot.
So I would guess and say 24GB is definitely the minimum if you want to be set for 6-8 years.
Also depends on how you feel about the more niche things regarding their pros and cons
AMD: Save a bit of money
      Wayyyy More VRAM
      Better software with adrenaline
      People claim it ages better
Might release future features NVIDIA releases with better support for old cards
      NVIDIA: Runs cooler
Better software support for more niche titles/software
      Better at Ai workloads
      Better at raytracing
Might come out with a new feature/technology that AMD will have to wait to recreate
(Ex: New feature only available on Rtx 5000 and 4000 gen cards)
That's how I'm trying to decide.

    • @deheimer
      @deheimer 5 месяцев назад +3

Nah the guy on the video has a bad take. You are right. Vram buffer is the most important thing if you wanna maintain longevity of the gpu. I use both GPU brands (RTX4080 and RX7900XTX) but with DLSS 3.5 Nvidia GPU produce better images imho. The main issue is not the brand of the GPU, the main issue is that devs are more used to nvidia tech than rdna technology. In most games the RX 7900XT will provide more fps than the RTX, but in simulations like MSFS and X-Plane 12, the RTX is way faster because of the inner code.

    • @LukewarmEnthusiast
      @LukewarmEnthusiast 6 месяцев назад +2

XTX sales are very strong and so they don't feel they need to do anything. Most likely AMD is cutting prices to AIBs behind the scenes so that prices will better stay closer to $900 than $1000. That's really all they need to do for that SKU. XTX at $900ish and XT at $750ish will sell fine. As for the 4080 Super, it's not like everyone is going to line up to pay $200-300 extra for the same performance with 50% less VRAM in 2024. And as far as 16 GB being "enough," CP2077 with the 4K texture packs already takes up 24 GB VRAM *now*. Not 5 years from now. There are at least 5 games I've played over the last year that take 16 GB with all the bells and whistles enabled which I hope you would be using on a card at this price point. Again, that is *now*, not 2, 3, 4 years from now. If you're going to be trading off your purchase in a couple of years, go for your life. But if you want your graphics card to be an investment, the XTX is a no-brainer.

The 4080 Super founder's edition cards are pretty much gone, they didn't make many of them. So the 7900XTX might be the way to go anyway because of the AIB prices if you're picking between the two. It hits me wrong that GPUs north of $600 require upscaling for playable frame rates (with RT enabled) and the less powerful GPUs that could really benefit from upscaling are not powerful enough to use it well. I went from an EVGA 1080Ti FTW3, a 4K 120hz 55" TV and playing GW2 (no RT possible) to a 7900XTX HellHound. All the eye candy and an avg of 30 FPS more. Not amazing uplift, but at the time, at $900, a minimum of $300 cheaper than the 4080. My 1080Ti had no RT capability so I didn't notice the lack of RT (or care to be honest) with the 7900XTX. With the new name and $200 price cut, the 7900XTX needs to be $100-125 cheaper as well. Sorry, but Nvidia does have more mind share. Not better performance in many cases and certainly not better prices. AMD has to compete with facts as well as perception and perception is way tougher to overcome. I'm so sick of Ray tracing being the end all be all of these GPUs. First off DLSS and FSR both have problems that I can't stand because they both utilize some form of TAA that modern games seem to have adopted/preferred over other forms of AA, that has ultimately made games look incredibly blurry. If you're a 4k gamer TAA essentially ruins the crisp experience, and at times removes detail in games. Raster is still king in my opinion, and if you have the option to disable RT please do it, I guarantee your experience will be 10x better without ray tracing, because the performance hit is far too big for the visual improvement that you're getting.
Secondly frame generation may look good on paper because the FPS graph says it's higher, but in the real world it doesn't feel or look better as an actual use case. I'd rather play at 60FPS without frame generation, because the latency is simply better than playing at 100FPS with frame generation on, especially in first person shooter scenarios.
Thirdly, it took Nvidia a year to respond to the 7900 XTX, and the normal non-Super 4080 is still sitting around $1200, meaning they'll just sit on shelves collecting dust, essentially making Nvidia's board partners lose a lot of money in the process. Seems time and again Nvidia is constantly showing why EVGA made their decision to cut their partnership.
Lastly, it really looks like the 7900 XTX is coming down in price, I'm seeing open box deals for the XTX on Newegg for $849 as of 2/5/24, I'm done buying into Nvidia's BS.

I just ordered a 4080 super, I play on a 4k screen and want to use 4k, and I care a lot about RT performance, and so far DLSS is better than FSR (but it's getting closer and closer, i wonder if fsr might even surpass it at some point).
But I should say that I was already intending to buy a 4080 even before I heard of the new super series going to be released despite the insane prices... well now i get one for a bit better price, I was also considering the 4070 Ti Super but after it was released it wasn't as much better than the 4070 Ti as I had hoped and also where I live the prices are the same and even price overlap so there are a lot of fancy 4070 Ti and 4070 TI Super (Asus strix and such) that cost about the same as a mid range 4080 super... and some fairly mid range and common 4070 TI Super (asus TUF) were selling for just $150 less than the 4080 super I ordered.

@@Greenalex89why so black and white? depends on what game and what graphics settings and what fps i feel is acceptable... like in cyberpunk2077, no you can't run it on full rt (not to even mention pathtracing) in 4k native with playable framerates. I probably won't use pathtracing much but even if i use psycho or ultra rt lighting and all RT functions on, i'd need to run it at a lower scale, usually i fiddle with this on my own via dlss tweak to set something good for each game, some games are fine at dlaa (native res going through the dlss engine), but you can set what ever internal resolutions you want so you don't have to play at "quality" which is 1440p from 4k as it is x0.66667... (1/1.5) of native, balanced is x0.5882353... (it's 1/1.7), but i can choose something in between like 0.625 (1/1.6), a small number of games have "ultra quality" which is x0.76923.. (1/1.3), but maybe I want to play at x0.75 which seemds more round (1/1.33333...) or x0.8 (1/1.25), I can even run DLAA horizontally and dlss vertically setting the internal resolution manually to 2880x2160 (the native is 3840x2160 on standard 4k), this works great in many games and even completely got rid of unsightly dlss ghosting in rdr2 when i played it on my 2070 Super (which is what i had until an hour ago when i got and installed my 4080 super).Sure in many games I will play it in native of course in such a powerful card, but DLSS is still a necessity for many very demanding games when on 4k. (though interestingly the last of us pc edition ran really well on my 2070 Super in native 4k, but i had to lower some settings to not go exceed the available vram.

It's still meh all around, but AMD _HAD_ to know the 4080 super was going to make the XTX look bad because they already knew exactly what the 4080 was. When AMD is winning they're _barely_ winning, but when Nvidia is winning they're absolutely decimating the XTX. You can get away with that when you're $200 cheaper but looks terrible when you're around the same price.
AMD could have proactively dropped it's price to steal some of Nvidia's thunder, but in typical AMD fashion you can always count on them to wait until _after_ they look foolish before they react. 🤦 Cmon AMD.

@@lifemocker85 It's brainless comments like this that make you AMD fanboys insufferable. What part of "When AMD is winning they're barely winning, but when Nvidia is winning they're absolutely decimating the XTX." did you not understand? Did you even watch the video?
There's never a time AMD is far enough ahead to where you would really notice. There's plenty of times Nvidia is fucking _destroying_ them. And that's NOT just in RT. Often when AMD has slight leads in average fps in non-rt games, Nvidia is still killing them in 1% lows, and that matters FAR more than averages to feel like smooth gameplay. And keep in mind one of those rt games is an AMD sponsored title they're getting schooled in.
Now account for AMD's cheaper memory (16gb of gddr6x costs more than 24gb of gddr6), cheaper die, inferior upscaling, inferior FG, and terrible VR, you realize it's not Nvidia being greedy. AMD has notably fatter margins on the XTX than the 4080 super. Nvidia is still overpriced, yes, but the XTX is insultingly overpriced. And if you don't think AMD is greedy, just take a look at Threadripper pricing to see what AMD does the second they're ahead. If they released the 4090 and not Nvidia I guarantee it would have had a $2000 MSRP.
RDNA3 is a flop. They didn't perform anywhere near where they were supposed to but AMD still charged like they did. There's should NEVER be a time when Nvidia's $550 4070 beats a $950 xtx, but it does in some scenarios, and sometimes even _LAST_ gen cards. That's unacceptable on a thousand dollar flagship, and looks like Arc launch drivers when AMD falls flat on their face. The only thing that makes it better is Nvidia is even more overpriced, but at least with Nvidia there's no compromises. THAT'S why Radeon will never outsell RTX. Most people aren't mouth breathing fanboys. Even Nvidia users hate Nvidia. But once you hold your nose and pay the Nvidia tax you simply have a superior experience for the next several years, while you have to put up with worse and worse performance with AMD as more and more games utilize RT. That's not fine wine, that's rotten grape juice.
The XTX shouldn't be a penny over $800.

I was hoping to stop being soo addicted to watching benchmark videos but still seem to gradually watch these to confirm whether purchasing decision was accurate. Considering in my own ranking system the 4080 is second to the first place card in the world 4090 and competing between 20-50fps for 4k resolution gaming with ray tracing and upscaling.
I was primarily an old school gamer playing mostly retro videogame console backlog. It took me months trying to figure out the current pc jargon of what is bare minimum admirable. I initially got a second hand 3060 and at 1080p runs brilliantly, although the monitors in my setup are mostly 4k for tv and productivity, only 1 being a 24inch 1920x1080 75hz monitor. The landscape to traverse in todays pc gaming world with FSR/DLSS/Frame generation/Upscaling/Native/Ray Tracing/Path Tracing... and then comparing charts among charts is quite arduos.
I was hoping to curb this journey by getting imo the second best gpu card in the world but somehow I have continued to watch more benchmark videos...
    Great video by the way!

Then the new cards will launch in 10 months and Nvidia will advertise how 'sh*t' your card performs compared to its successor, it will have a bunch of new software features that you will be told are unavailable to your model because of 'hardware limitations '. And you will watch all the Hardware Unboxed videos on the 50 series cards, looking down the list of models to see yours struggling to stay in the top 35% of the chart and you will feel bad. It will begin to eat at you, and so you will start watching more benchmarking videos of the new GPUs. Eventually you will convince yourself that it will be worthwhile to upgrade.

XTX is leading in some games, because it also draws 15-25% more power. Right now XTX is not good value. at 899$ will be far more competitive, because you get a tiny bit more raster performance (in some games) and more VRAM, but the feature set is lacking.

amd is very afraid go any lower in price due to expensive vram will cause amd market shares to drop and loss $40 billion, no wonder amd giving up and leaving highend to nvidia...the vram is problematic to maintain fair pricing when amd overesitmated and over shoot on both foot ...24gb and price , it complicated a whole lot for amd when difference in performance is only 5% between 16gb 4080 vs 24gb 7900xtx...nvidia is closing gap much closer than before , even 4080 super embarrassed amd halo product with better lows fps,. Its not cheap to do 384bit 24gb vram...when amd could done 256bit 16gb would been cheaper for amd users

In my country the cheapest XTX is $910 right now, while the cheapest 4080S is $1,168. I already have a nice 7900 GRE in my system so not buying any GPU's anytime soon, but in the hipotetic I had that kind of money to spend I was really thinking for this high end of a GPU I better go with Nvidia. After seeing the size of the price gap the 7900XTX is too good to pass up and it's not even a competition for me.

I have to agree with your analysis. That's why I went and bought the 4080 Super today. A $50 discount is not enough for me to pick the AMD 7900 XTX. If the AMD GPU cost between $800-850 I probably would have gone for that instead but it wasn't. AMD just isn't doing enough to compete and they KNEW the 4080 Super was dropping today. So what are they doing in the market?

For me in America, there is that same $50 price difference. It's a no-brainer for me to pay the additional $50 for access to DLSS 3 and much better raytracing performance, even if I don't usually use raytracing. I'm spending about $2000 to upgrade my system fully, and that $50 is pretty meaningless in the grand scheme of things.

Now that there is AI, graphics and technologies are expected to evolve considerably in the coming years. As a result, new demands will arise.
