    Btw, just so you know:
Hue= The colour-colour. Red, blue, green etc.
Shade= black added (shaded red = burgundy)
Tint= white added (tinted red= pink)
Tone= grey added (so, a muted red)

The way I added color in my project 333 capsule wardrobe is I kept the bottoms, outwear, shoes and bags, tee shirts neutral. Then I added different color sweaters and scarves that go well together with my neutrals this way everything goes with everything without feeling bored or restricted and this way when I need to add new items it wouldn't be difficult to match with rest of the closet.

I especially like the idea of using the colors from a scarf as a basis for an outfit. My scarves are in a box under the bed and tend to be more of an afterthought . Every once in awhile, I pull them out and admire the beautiful colors. Now I can use them as inspiration for styling an outfit! Great video.

I have a shawl with a lot of colors in it, they are all more muted colors. I love them all and love them together and I’ve begun using the shawl as a guide for choosing color. If the new item will “go with” the shawl, it’s in! Because I know it will work with everything else!

Our timeless colours should be not just be the ones we love or are regularly in fashion, but the ones that really suit us, make us look good, fresh and healthy and make us feel that we are looking our best. (Versus the ones that we love as colours, but but make us look tired, drained or even a little sick). Just my humble opinion :)

@@Foundlilly11 same. Also minimalist wardrobe does not necessarily mean neutral tones only. It means you have a few clothes that you can easily combine. It might be a bit harder to build it colorful, but not impossible (I hope so because too much clothes give me anxiety but I look terrible in neutrals lol)

I would like capsule wardobes for different life styles. For example I’m a mom of two under three, and I feel like I never look put together. Other women work full time, and always feel unconfortable in their clothes because their office is very formal. So not styles like boho or modern or feminine, but lifestyles

I appreciate the amount of hard work you put into this video, Signe! One thing I love about fashion/style in general is that you can gain inspiration from anywhere. From what you've shown, I've come to realize that each of my capsules are similar to what you showcased in the first capsule, but with two or three extra pops of color. So based on that, I'd say my favorite colors are light, dark-washed or navy blue, mustard yellow, burnt orange and burgundy. TFS!

As long as you choose a couple of neutrals and 3-4 colours to match, with some prints, you can wear it all. I have black, white and grey as my neutrals and then various shades of red, orange and yellow with a couple of items of another colour to match with the neutrals and as most of my neutrals are patterned and of course some of my colours, I can create a colourful fun capsule wardrobe very easily

I wear brighter colours with neutral colours rather than with each other. I consider jeans a neutral so pretty much everything goes with them. I have a lot of different colours in my wardrobe and I just go by instinct and what I think looks nice together. I don't wear too many colours at once because I feel that can look a bit garish. The colour I find that goes well with many non-neutral colours is khaki green, I can wear many different colours with that.

I do a small season capsule and generally have 3 colors for each. Black white red for winter, grey white and plum for fall, spring is a bit all over the place right now with yellow, green, navy and a bit of grey, and then black white and hot pink/magenta for summer. If you're hesitant about color just introduce a bit at a time. From doing this I have learned about what colors and patterns I feel good in, how much I value texture in my clothing, and in what style I feel most comfortable. So I follow what I enjoy versus what is trending (as it will likely be gone in a season or year anyway). Also, it helps manage what I buy throughout the year. I tend to stay away from things that don't fit my color scheme and it keeps my wardrobe very cohesive.

I love colours, but I often go for muted, shaded or tinted colours... I have a lot of blues, burgundies, cool reds and cool pinks, cool green (pine or sage) and I fill in the gaps with whites and creams and sometimes a touch of black for easy combinations. Blues are the basic colour in my wardrobe tho... I don't ever do beige, brown, orange, corals or purples... they just don't suit me. I do wear yellows sometimes but it has to be a very specific yellow (soft and cool) and I tend to keep that for the spring/summer months.

After exploring color theory check out Justin Leconte's video about the right colors for your personality.
Typically, combine at most only three colors besides whites and blacks.
Tones or shades go from light to dark typically from top to bottom.
Hues or colors go from lightest in early Jan to darkest in late Fall seasonally.
Neutrals and grey tones are more subdued and attract less light, less attention, and show smudges the least.
Bright colors (jewel tones) and bold colors (reds and yellows) are loud and will get a lot more attention ⚠ so wear them confidently.
Soft colors are easy on the eyes and allows one to have a quieter personality.
One bold accent color does make the difference and maybe you can go with what you already own.

The colors you chose, look like they'd be very flattering to you. I am in the Cool palette also (being a Winter). I really liked this video, and the advice. Maybe (when the time came), you could feature the more spring-like things there in your wardrobe (a series like you'd thought of). This will be fun! 🌲🙆

I really love this colorful capsule wardrobe! Personally I look washed out and sickly in neutrals like beige and grey, however classic and easily combinable they are. So I'm all up for more color capsule inspiration or tips :)

My (future, still working on it, can't just throw out my still perfectly wearable but not 100% it clothes) wardrobe's neutrals are like...Accents. Of white, black, and bright silver. Maybe a cognac brown.
Otherwise, I wear coral and bright red and royal blue in the same outfit. With raspberry boots perhaps.
Also, a colour tool I really like is www.sessions.edu/color-calculator/

I absulutely LOVE the analog colors capsule wardrobe! It's a great inspiration and I will incorporate those colors in my basic wardrobe. However I think that primary colors are associated with children wear (and Instagram) and are not the best choice for adults. A colourful wardrobe using tones and shades of hues would be more complex, subtle, and sophisticated.

One easy way of knowing that colours will work well together is to consider your own colouring. I'm a (very) Light Summer, and so long as I stick to the appropriate colour palate, the colours will combine well together, then it's just a matter of balancing the colours within each outfit (dark, medium, light, textures).

Maybe it works, but many people, myself included, do not know what "season" they are, as they have mixed colours.

I really enjoyed this video! Thank you for the hard work, Signe :) I'll be taking inspiration from all the pops of green in the more muted version. However I find it difficult to have a capsule wardrobe when I "need" to dress one way for work but don't really wear e.g. a blazer and blouse when I'm not at work. Any tips or suggestions?

I love colors and have plenty in my wardrobe. Reds especially, greens, some yellow, some, blue, salmon, ... mostly warm colors as they suit me better, but not exclusively - I don't have a capsule wardrobe, more like a curated one. I've noticed, that I tend to like outfits like in your 2nd capsule on other people, but whenever I try to put them together, it is too much on me. So I usually wear neutrals + 1-2 bold color in some items or + 1 patterned item.

Really good video.. I like fuschia or strong pink (with a touch of warnth) and cobolt blue. Lately I have had an amry green/ olive green and brown. But I found it difficult to make the colors together. Special the pink. I have greay and black and navy as a ties it together.

    • @UseLess_dk
      @UseLess_dk  4 года назад

Pink looks great with other primary colors depending on how strong you want it to look of course :-) If you want a more calm/analgoue mood for the pink you could add lilacs/purples but it does also look great with oranges, fuchsia and red. Another lovely combo with pink is pink, burgundy and taupe! Try out the color wheel I mention, honestly it's a lifesaver! color.adobe.com/create

That was so great Signe! 😍 Thanks for all your hard work.
I think you excelled yourself with the analog wardrobe especially, which really pops and makes me want to start over as a confirmed colour wearer 🤣 I think the pieces you chose for this capsule would make endless stylish combinations with the right amount of colour and playfulness but still keeping with an overall theme.
For me, too colourful a wardrobe would be unworkable and I’d probably be confused about what to put together 😉 Plus, I feel bold screams for attention and that’s not my style🤣
From the peek at your bedroom it is lovely 👌😍
Are there “capsule wardrobes” in decorating btw? x

Hello to all you savvy ladies out there! I love this channel! I'm from Texas and have been a resale shopper for clothing & home furnishings in stores for years! I buy on eBay only if the seller accepts returns.

Hi Signe, I noticed you mention Arket as an ethical brand. What makes this brand ethical in your opinion? I figured they are part of the H&M group and are therefore not ethical in their fabric use and labour conditions, but perhaps I am wrong? Also, what is your opinion on the newly launched Afound website?

Use Less I think they made it free to sign up for a period of time. I have had it for a couple of years now, and for the first year I paid a monthly subscription. Then they told me it would be free going forwards for the life time of my membership, so since then I haven’t paid anything. I love the app too, and use it everyday!

My best frien has a lot of fushia, turquoise and purple in her wardrobe. How would you build a wardrobe around these colors?

  • @meamela9820
    @meamela9820 4 года назад +1

As i see it YOUR basic colours is not the same as THE basic colours (as in white, black, grey etc). When you make the basic of the wardrobe you actually use is becomes automatically a colourful wardrobe. My basic colours happen to be black, midnight blue and vine red (and then a lot of forest green and purple). And then it just became colourful without me doing so much. As Signe says it is also about finding colours that match each other. As I use quite dark and muted colours (and also mostly ones with a cold under tone) things match even if it seems like I use three or four different colours in the same outfit.
