I love that you talk about using the same pieces for different aesthetics where they overlap. Sometimes I feel like with wearing different aesthetics there’s a bit of pressure to buy a whole new wardrobe for every new style that comes along which obviously isn’t great. It’s so refreshing to hear you talk about having a small amount of clothing yet still being able to make that work for so many aesthetics. I’m trying to get my wardrobe to a similar place where I can make a smaller amount of high quality pieces go a long way. If I’m spending a hundred dollars on a piece of clothing, you’re gonna see me wearing it at least a hundred times 😂
So happy you appreciate it! 🥰🥰🥰 A smaller wardrobe has really grown on me. Everything I have,I love and want to wear and nothing goes unnoticed! And when I do decide to buy something it’s something that I know I’ll wear and something I need
I’ve been into this “old money” aesthetic for a while now without knowing. Since blazers are my favorite thing, I would just stalk the Ralph Lauren clearance page or just save up for the one I really wanted. I have two now, a military style one and a DA wool brown plaid one that I got for Christmas one year.
Turtle neck in silk Slack in silk White blouse with tie in silk Lightweight silk coat Simple cardigan in wool Polo shirt White pleated skirt Sweater vintage one White linen skirt Tan trench coat Military jacket / blazer fitted Ecru linen dress Navy dress Sleeveless turtle neck Black shirt sleeve turtle neck White button up Clip on bow V neck pullover sweater in wool Scarf
Soak your wool cardigan. I have a soap that I soak mine in. It’s rinse free but I always give it a little rinse and then I roll it up with a towel so it’s not soaking wet and lay it to completely dry. I find this makes the sweater much softer. Then when it starts to get a bit more rough I wash again. Also hang it up somewhere breezy, natural fibres are pretty good at keeping themselves in good shape when you air them out! 😊
Woaw, all the Lily Silk pieces are so beautiful and elegant! I also love the black jacket and the white button-up shirt with the black bow. They go together so well! 😍
some more advice Dear: 1. more homogenous hair color (no roots and big contrasts in the hair color!), 2 less hoppy earring with the turtleneck (plus big hoops are best for curvy women), 3. neutral nails (Essie ballet slippers or similar shade)
Hmmm... although another thing that matters with the old money aesthetic: what comes out of your mouth. True class is keeping unkind comments to yourself.
Sarah Chatto - cousin of King Charles is a great example of old money - asset rich cash poor. Sarah recycles the same knitwear, raw silk skirt and hat at all the royal events, along with heirloom pearls. British aristocratic is very matronly and not seductive, because they aren't actresses and don't have to demean themselves looking cute. Princess Anne always had a wonderful FU vibe toward fashion and being asked to smile like a chorus girl.
I absolutely adore this lady and her personality. With that being said… I’m gonna say this is delicately as I can. All of the influencers that talk about this interchange, quiet luxury with old money. First of all as someone who grew up with “old money” I never once heard that term. But for the sake of this comment, old money is not an outfit. It is a way of life. It is traditions, deep rooted, and handed down from generation to generation. It is certainly not an aesthetic. It is an attitude, and it is something that you cannot be a part of if you haven’t grown up in it. The only people that had labels on their clothing or accessories when I was growing up were the staff. Lastly, when you grow up in all the money as people are calling it… You don’t have to think about it. It just is and we certainly don’t discuss it. I believe that she looks cute as a button that’s really do. Other than the hair and the nails don’t kill me for that. But if she walked into the country club, she would immediately be picked out. Like I said, it’s a club that you can only be born into…it doesn’t make us better. It just is what it is.
I do not come from "old money," which, really, there is no such thing in America, but I wholeheartedly agree with you. To my mind, this look is more quietly classic. No labels, key pieces in muted colors that can make any combination of outfits. And then there is the Coco Chanel rule: before you leave the house, take one piece of jewelry off. The minimalistic approach is oftentimes associated with "old money" in my opinion, because, as you said, it's not something someone who grew up in this manner thinks about. It just is. So, in theory, if you're not thinking about how much money you have or what you're wearing, you have much more time for other, more important things.
Great pieces. It's not a "handkerchief ". That's for blowing the nose. Also known as a hanky, ha ha!! You may have been thinking of a "kerchief". That's a "babushka " worn on the head. Yours is a beautiful scarf. I like your concept of marrying dark , light academia and old money aesthetics. They do go together. I'm a Ravenclaw but I like your Gryfinder polo shirt. Great video.
with out being rude but half of the things you are showing are truly only lilly silk sponsored stuff and sadly the other half has not a lot to do with °old money° your skirts are too short your sweater or polo are logo printed ... that is not old money at all...
Old Money means WASP, a racial and religious group, yet she shows non-white and non-Christian people....? As a WASP, I'm deeply offended. Even the Kennedys weren't old money, being Catholic. All she had to do was look it up.
omg no not at all! I love feedback and love that you took the time to comment. so only 4 of my pieces out of 18 are lily silk, I wish I had more though 😅 Totally agree the with the logos, I talked about how my logos arent old money in the video but I was just using what I already own. The great thing about aesthetics is that you can interpret the style however you want. I have other friends that dress old money who wear it totally different, This is just how dress with what I own. Aesthetics are just for fun
I'm a born and bred good old New Englander. In my part of the world you're a bit off the mark. Sorry to say but the tennis skirt went out last year Don't wear it you'll just look out of company. Your Disney United is a no-go sorry that's a bit off the mark I would never wear that nor anyone I know sorry 😞.. we very rarely if at all, except for funeral and sunglasses wear black..lol... No black trousers in the summer not even to go out to dinner, sorry. I never even owned or wore apair jeans till I was 32 , And I still don't it's not in my DNA really. In my part of the world, which is Boston, Connecticut, Nantucket, New York, and Rhode Island. Only in the summer is linen appropriate and yes it's wrinkly, nature of the beast. You are correct with the polo shirts of all colors actually, they help when you're out on the water or horseback riding and the sun is beating down on your neck. We wear print shirts and pants but not together, I do wear Lily Pulitzer and a few other colorful designers for the summer. We do wear a lot of different style loafers, no socks, lots of blue, whites, khaki and light blue's. We love our straw bags in the summer and gorgeous straw hats. We wear minimal jewelry unless we're going out to dinner or a fundraiser or something like that. As far as labels go, I think we pick quality over quantity whatever label you choose I particularly like Ralph Lauren, lands end, LL Bean, and a thousand others, I don't know anyone who wears Tommy Hilfiger, but ok. And just a few of each, people don't have a lot of summer leisure wear because it is quality over quantity and we are at the beach in the summer or doing summer outdoory thing so no need to dress up Just leisure. And I love my espadrilles. It's not necessarily about the labels as much as it is you are a product of your environment, My family are boat people, so we wear a lot of appropriate boat attire and flipflops, sneakers and that kind of thing as most boaters do 😁.. this is going on too long but I hope this helps a bit seeing that's where I'm from. Don't try too hard we can see it.. Just be comfortable That's really what it's all about.. comfort! Hope that helps a bit I know this went on a bit long ..but just thought I'd help out a little. Oh I just wanted to say one more thing.. contrary to popular belief we don't wear blazers. I'm sitting here a bit puzzled because I do have them in my closet The funny thing I never wear them and I never see any of the girls wear them either or the older ladies 🤔.. maybe next fall I'll take one out and wear it and see how I feel about that Just haven't done it in a very long time. Tell you what come to New England or wherever you're preppy preferences and see what they wear Don't watch RUclips about old money aesthetic That's just from magazines trying to sell you stuff.
Lands End and LL.Bean for old money Utah( Think Victorian era wealth) are the favorites . Especially their winter gear for the sloaps. It really is about comfort and lasting for longer than 3 months. Also FIT IS EVERYTHING. Just take stuff to the cleaner to have it fitted. We don't do a lot of boating here. It's all outdoors in the mountains.

Cant wait for you to experience it🥰🥰
Wrinkled linen is perfect for “old money” because it’s a more relaxed look…however, nothing should be wrinkled EXCEPT linen 😃

#1 old money clothing tip. STEAM YOUR CLOTHING
I appreciate you working with brands that are better for the environment!!
Thank you! I’m very picky about them on purpose so I appreciate you saying that
Soak your wool cardigan. I have a soap that I soak mine in. It’s rinse free but I always give it a little rinse and then I roll it up with a towel so it’s not soaking wet and lay it to completely dry. I find this makes the sweater much softer. no way! I'm totally going to try this. thanks for the tip! fingers crossed!
There is a ton of wool wash on Amazon that are awesome.
You’re definitely right about the polyester trousers sticking to you. The plastic creates static energy when it brushes against your skin.
my life is forever changed!
Hey also, try rubbing “dryer sheets” on the inside of the wool sweaters to soften the fabric. It helps!
Oh I didn’t know this was a thing, I will definitely give this a go
@@justlanchen also if you rub them with wool dryer balls it helps.
Woaw, all the Lily Silk pieces are so beautiful and elegant! I also love the black jacket and the white button-up shirt with the black bow. They go together so well! 😍
Thank you🥹🤍 I know the black bow with a button up is my favorite too!! It looks so good 🥵
some more advice Dear: 1. more homogenous hair color (no roots and big contrasts in the hair color!), 2 less hoppy earring with the turtleneck (plus big hoops are best for curvy women), 3. neutral nails (Essie ballet slippers or similar shade)
Exactly!
Hmmm... although another thing that matters with the old money aesthetic: what comes out of your mouth. True class is keeping unkind comments to yourself.
Hey, I really really love those reddish trousers and was wondering if you had a link to them or could let me know the brand

Old money style is British aristocracy style.

Does your cashmere pill? I may just need to get a denser weave but mine pills horribly.
It hasn’t yet but I haven’t washed it. I don’t even know if I will wash it cause I always ruin my clothes when I do😅

I LOVE THIS COMMENT
This might show old money in America but it won't fool anyone else in Europe.
Stop advertising Chinese companies
The phone that you're using is most likely made in China.

Not old money hair color…
Pompous A
Nothing looks old money with aggressively bleached yellow hair
😂😂😂😂

Those brands are like Kmart and Target in Australia, cheap.
