Have you done any studies in philosophy? The reason I ask is because as I watch your Dark Academia videos, I could easily see you giving backgrounds of different philosophers in history, and then discussing your personal philosophy on the topics they cover. You've just always struck me as a philosopher yourself, and I'd love to see what you could do with it. All in a dark academia style, of course :)
@@justlanchen It might even be cool to go over the different philosophies, like what is stoicism, existentialism, nihilism, etc...not trying to plan your vids for you or anything, just saying what I personally would love to see!
In fact if you want to be a good philosopher you shouldn’t receive most of your philosophical education formally. Because it is rigid/ structured which defies the purpose of philosophy Unless you have a teacher who is similar to Socrates
I am 51 (gen x), and I love both dark and light academia. The short skirt is a young look for me, and I know I would feel uncomfortable. Would you ever do a video for the over 40 crowd who loves this esthetic?
I live in the tropical side of the country. It gets hot here, especially in the summer. (it can reach up to 40 degrees) and it's hard for me to wear dark/light academia clothing, but I've been watching your videos and this video to get an idea of what to wear. I find it helpful, so thank you. When I can't decide on a DA look, I just watch your videos, and suddenly get an idea of what to wear. I love your fashion videos and your approach to this aesthetic.
I personally love to incorperate corduroy, in both jackets and pants, i have a beige jacket and a pair of emerald pants and i feel like those also fit the aestethic very well. I've found mine thrifting so I'm shure anyone can find some if you look hard enough
this video is really helpful. I don't have a lot of neutral brown and black colors, my wardrobe is all bright colors, but when i move out I am definitely going to decorate my house or apartment with a da look and I'm going to buy/thrift all the dark academia clothes to wear all the time. literally. I cannot WAIT! These clothes are super cool, and the dark academia style fits me so well. I have blonde hair, and browns always go well with it.
@@justlanchen Where, I live, I can actually bike to a goodwill and another really good thrift shop called St. Vincent de Pauls, which is actually a chain thrift shop! I'm underage though, so I can't buy anything without asking my parents, and I'm homeschooled so I can't go out. And the fact that I already have clothes, but they're kind of meh. Like I'll wear them, but I don't pay attention to the way I dress. Yesterdy, after I watched your video on dark academia clothes must, I actually put together an outfit!
Really interesting video, I live in Japan, I’m like goth/ dark academia and what I find is if I find something I have been looking for something for ages and I find it I buy 2. As I always have problems finding these type of clothes. My husband is English and we always go back there.
Do you perhaps know where to buy dark academia dresses? 🥲 I am so frustated and I found shops like linennaive but apparently it's located in China and a whole scam.
Absolutely garden your lucky to live were you are. Arizona sometimes is harder to grow things. But working on our backyard now so thank you for sharing definitely gave me some inspiration.
any academia aesthetic bases on dressing classic and appropriate, i think that wearing for example hats indoors ruins the outfits making them look forced
Black hasn't so much to do with dark academia. Since Chanel we use black as a colour for dressing, but not before, and in the european classic university clothes is not used at all except in a very few things.
Not keen on labels. I like what I like, not all is my thing but it should be to each their own. Otherwise it becomes a "trend". I am not fond of trends. To me They are so blase. I appreciate individuality, not Pied Piper leading mice. The people who stand for their own style, by not calling it a "style".🌿💙💚💙Be a tribe unto yourself. 👍
I am a English learner from Japan and your English is so clearly!!! This video helps me so much both of outfits and language!🙂🙂🙂
Ralph Lauren has alot of academia styles. Corduroys, vests, plaids etc.

I have a little bit! I've never thought to do that but thats such a great idea. I definitely need a refresher on existentialism

Philosophy is V. popular nowadays & not just in academic settings
