Just got a used Nikon D810 a couple of days ago. This and another channel really make it easy to get acclimated with this. Though this isn't my first Nikon it is my first full frame camera. I'm so happy Nikon doesn't change much around when it comes to layouts and such. This video is literally a manual with words and images. LOL I'm stoked to be able to use this camera! Thanks for much a such a simple yet informative video!!!
Thank you so much for your videos! Coming from a D90, I was quite bewildered by the camera and the manual. Thank goodness, I thought to look on RUclips and found you. Thanks to your clear videos, I was immediately able to successfully use my camera within minutes.
Wow, thank you for your helpful info video. I needed to understand something for my camera and found it straight away in this great guide presentation video.
we use to call it ASA, shoot trix 400 at 1600, d76 soup, shake it up, make contact sheet, photo editor would choose pic and what to crop, be in newspaper next day
Thanks Todd for your great video. 👍 I am considering buying a second hand D810 as a hobby friendly (not too expensive) high megapixel camera and wanted to get a feel for what the D810 brought. Your video was very, very helpful to walk me around the camera. It's probably off topic (advanced), but the only two questions I was left with are: (1) Does the D810 have histogram on the LiveView screen? This feature is very useful for landscape photography. (Yes, it does) (2) How do the other aspect ratios available in the camera such as 5x4 work in practice? Does the view finder (eye piece) mask off the view to the set aspect ratio? I haven't been able to find this out yet. The great thing is, I have learnt a lot more about my camera (D610) from your video that I didn't know before because Nikon cameras tend to function in a similar way. Some of the things the D810 has works similarly on the D610. Thanks for putting this video together for us.
subbed. I'd say the D810 is a well suited camera for portraits and landscapes even in 2020, for low light or video you're better off with a z6 or a7iii.
Do you know why I can't move the multi-selector around in the info screen, to change settings? Or is there another way I should be trying to make changes on that menu? I want to turn AF-lock on =(
Could you please let me know when I use M mode, why the shutter speed always changes after I take one photo, while aperture keeps unchanged? How can I prevent the shutter speed from changing? Thank you.
@@simonvanderheijden432 Hi Simon, thank you for the reply. I have contacted Nikon and the reason has been found. It is because the camera had Bracketing active. When Bracketing was disabled, the issue was fixed. By the way, your video is very helpful. To show a little support, I donated $10. This was my first time to do this in RUclips and didn't know it was shown out. I didn't feel comfortable on this. If this also made you uncomfortable, I am very sorry and do apologize. Thanks again for your video and reply. Kind regards, Wen
I have Nikon D810, this camera is giving me a tough time now as the recording button is not recording. I have been pressing it but no response. All I did is change the lens from 60 mm to 28 mm. Can anyone advise?
This is the most informative guide about D810 should repeat it over and over again.
Thank you Mr. Todd Hansen
This is the most thorough tutorial I’ve come across. Very detailed !

The D810 is a great camera , and offers much more than I actually need . I'm not tempted by newer cameras from Nikon .

Anyone has issues with the focus point setting not doing anything while holding down the focus point button?
Could you please let me know when I use M mode, why the shutter speed always changes after I take one photo, while aperture keeps unchanged? How can I prevent the shutter speed from changing? Thank you.
I can't help you but to the best of my knowledge the shutter speed should stay at the value you selected when in M mode.
