Floor and Henk first performed this together at the 2019 Beste Zangers Dutch TV show. Henk agreed to that , if he could join Nightwish in The Netherlands. Finally, after several postponements due to covid restrictions, they got it done last November. First time in 17 years for Nightwish, they thought they would never perform the song again after the Tarja and Marko version you watched from 2005, until Floor made a promise. Henk had always sung it traditionally before Beste Zangers, he added the distortion for Floor, she loved it. Btw , Henk just turned 67 in January, about 2 months after this performance. Next from Nightwish?? Try I Want My Tears Back at the 2018 Buenos Aires show.
Henk had never sang distortion before he sang Sound of Silence for Floor during the Beste Zangers show in 2019. He had to get a voice coach to teach him. When they rehearsed for their duet on Phantom on the show he rehearsed it straight and surprised her with the distortion on the night. They have become good friends and they also did a remote duet of the Jekyll and Hyde song Dangerous Game during lockdown. Floor did about 10 solo shows in The Netherlands after Beste Zangers and Henk accompanied her for POTO and a couple of other songs. Henk made well over 1000 appearances as the Phantom. Incidentally there was a thunder storm while they sang POTO on Beste Zangers and there was water dripping through the roof.
I love 'Uncle Henk'. On stage he has a voice that demands respect and off stage he's that chill uncle with the cool stories. He's Andrew Lloyd Webber's favorite Phantom btw! I had to say it. Makes me proud as a Dutchie.

I was there. It was a nice surprise, when the first notes hit we knew Henk would be there, cause Troy wouldn't be able to sing this. Floor and Henk sang this on beste zangers in 2019, he agreed if he could sing this also with Nightwish. This was Floor honoring his request and Tuomas agreeing to it. Mind you, this was just a few short weeks after Floor's breast cancer surgery. It was awesome 🤘🏽

I was there, it was epic❣️ I was bouncing up and down when I realized they were doing this! So great hearing them do the Phantom again with the official Dutch Phantom! It was a surprise I sort of counted on because it was promised in Beste Zangers 2019.
This is very different to the earlier version you watched with Tarja the first singer. The bassist Marko played the Phantom and made him more demonic. Henk Poort in this version has actually played the Phantom in the musical which Floor saw when a young girl as he is now 69 years old.

Yes, I agree with you. I'm older too. I was there on November 27 2022 in Amsterdam. When they did this song and Henk came the whole crowd exploded. It is/was very special. Floor and Henk both from The Netherlands and Floors second weekend after she is/was back from her surgery for breast cancer. TBH Nightwish lucked out so much that Floor's previous band decided to call it quits, there's not many vocalists in metal that could handle their repertoire... Floor, Tarja, Simone, are definitely my 3 OGs of symphonic metal

If you haven't heard The Fontom of The Opera you should see it in the theatre. It's a fantastic musical. I've seen it many times and it's really good.... and you should also see the version where Nightwish's former lead singer Tarja sings the duet with Marko 🙂

I remember I was at their concert in 2015 in Ukraine. I thought I would die out there. The music, the sound were so close to tear my ears off. The energy was blasting. My head was moving so fast so I could've rocked all night.
That was a great concert, I was standing right in front of Henk doing the metal horns. The doors to the concert opened at 7 pm, we where standing at the gates at 3 pm. That was so worth it.
Henk Poort was the original Phantom in the Netherlands. I saw him as the Phantom in 1995 (yes, I’m old 🤣). 🙋♀️💕
