At this point after several years of using iOS, macOS, tvOS, watchOS, Air pods and for some stupid reason the Apple credit card. I’m too lazy to switch. But I do really like the Ultra Series of phones from Samsung.
@I don’t have much choice I guess. If the MacBook is the most convenient laptop for me, switching to an Android phone would seem illogical. I would lose the added convenience of a seamless ecosystem that works perfectly right out of the box.
Depending on what ecosystem you’ve invested in switching can be absurdly expensive. If it’s a use case where you’re just using a phone then sure try something new. You’re here for a good time not a long time! 😂
I just live with an iphone and a android No need to switch One always available to use while the other one is charging etc 😁 Also handy with cell phone coverage having 2 different carriers
I tend to switch back and forth, and for me the biggest pain point is fitness data. I really wish Apple Health and Fitbit would talk to each other, that way if i go between an Apple Watch and a Pixel Watch i still have historical data available to build on.
Hey Jon! Just letting you know, that black dot/splotch glitch / paper scrunch effect / whatever that's shown in B-Roll was making it hard to see what I should be focusing on and actually hurting my eyes. I generally have zero eye problems (don't even wear glasses), so this was quite odd to experience. Not sure if anyone else is experiencing this, but thought I'd let you know, in case you wanted to tone it down in the future. Great vid! Keep it up :)
I switched to a Fold 5 from Samsung after using the 13 pro max for more than 2 years. It got really boring using the iphone and I could not justify upgrading to another boring iphone so after getting a great deal I got the fold instead. It's lightyears away when it comes to tech I would even start to mention features. It was an expensive route but I love the fun I get every time I use my fold.
I switched from Android to an iPhone 15 Pro last year. Transferring data to an iPhone with the “Move to IOS” app was a chore. It took forever and a day and failed twice. I put this down to photos and in the end never moved my photos. When I removed these from the option to move it worked but it still took a long time for not much data to move.
I just switched from Android (from the Pixel 8 Pro though I've mostly used Samsung) to iPhone 16 Pro Max literally a week ago. My biggest problem was signing into my Google account as I didn't have a device to get my 2 step authenticationd code. Once I did get into my Google account, I had access to all my app passwords and was able to set Google as the default Password manager on iPhone. My next biggest issue is the keyboard. I'm used to having a keyboard where I could press & hold various letters as a shortcut to get symbols. I've found SwiftKey as a good alternative though. I've also got Google One from my Pixel, so I have that setup to automatically backup my images & videos. Other than those issues, I've found that the iPhone really isn't that different from Android. Oh, I also have had to go back to my old Samsung Galaxy Watch 3, which works just fine with iOS (other than any Samsung/Android specific features), instead of my Pixel Watch 2. I'm thinking about trying to sell or trade my Pixel Watch 2 for an Apple Watch, but not sure which one to get.
I have tried the last two years to switch from iOS to Android for my main phone number. Unfortunately, I am too far into the apple ecosystem and the walled garden is a real thing. Yes, green bubbles are annoying, but it wasn’t that. For me, the Apple Ultra Watch 2 has true multi day battery life, and everything just works together better. I bought the Pixel Fold last year, and this year I tried the Pixel 9vPro Fold (That name is hard to remember), and the big reasons I went back are: 1. Battery Life/Charging on Pixel - Yes, I know the Fold is still an emerging device, but the battery life is not great, the charging speeds are abysmal, and even where they place the wireless charging coils is weird and not easy to use. 2. Pixel Watch/Samsung Galaxy Ultra - I just can’t get on board with the look or the battery life of the pixel watch. Using the Samsung Galaxy Ultra is as close as I can get to the Ultra experience, but even then the battery life was no where near as good, even when turning off most apps, and you are left feeling like there are just a few things missing vs. using a Samsung phone. I can’t use the Fold 6 as the outside screen is too narrow. 3. Walled Garden - I have a MacBook Pro (M1) that is still going strong that I use for work, the IPad Pro 13” with Cellular (Samsung Tab S9/S10 Ultra won’t do cellular in the US), along with all the accessories such as AirPods Pro, Max, etc. Plus, finding accessories for these products is much easier in the US. With all this being said, the Pixel 9 Pro Fold is a great device, with some shortcomings. I love the tablet form factor, and find that I use it more in that orientation, but it may be more the novelty. I like that when folded it is the same size as a Pixel 9. I have decided at this point to switch this to be my secondary line, and continue to use it to experience both worlds. I applaud Google for the work they have done with the Pixel 9 Pro Fold, and how they are willing to push the envelope. Thank you for your great perspective on making the switch and making it more relevant to people outside of content creation.
As someone who was an android user for years, I finally decided to give iphone a try with the 11 series. It was cool because I could pop my SIM card out and move it over to Android with no problems. This what I'm until the removal of the SIM slot by Apple. I just made the choice move my main line to Android and what a headache. I don't know that I'll refer go back to an iphone if something doesn't make this process easier!
Great video as always! Ugh. I’ve tried to switch away from Apple so many times and it never sticks. Seems easier now than it used to be but thanks for pointing out some of the issues that still remain.
A few days ago I switched my wife and I to iPhone. Move to IOS is not very well optimized. It kept disconnecting from my wife’s phone. Mine however went through fine. I spent hours trying to get hers to transfer. Eventually I just backed everything up to her google profile and moved what I could through signing in with her Gmail on her new iPhone.
A very important video for Me rn, as I consider to switch from Apple to the next Gen Pixel (10 Pro probably) Didnt know about Apple Music on Android for example But 3rd party apps were also my idea to go.
Just went through this and have experienced all the things mentioned, the eSIM swap is frustrating and not necessary, this could easily be done in software. Been on an iPhone since the 8, and really liked the look of the pixel 9 pro xl and have been swapping back and forth since the Pixel 9 Pro came out. This is primarily because of family and some of the things you lose out on, find my and sharing. I have started using the iCloud app on my Pixel and that gives me access to all the things I need from Apple and allow me to share photos relatively easy so as to not have to “force” my family to start using Google products. It has taken a few months but I am at a good place now and am on the Pixel full time and don’t see me switching back anytime soon, but who knows what the future holds. Great video John!!
After switching in the summer, I went back to Apple because of the eCoSysTeM. But that's the truth, I like the ecosystem a lot. I wanna get a second phone though, I am waiting for a rumored release of Google Pixel phones in my country. I wanna taste the Pixel software.
i recently got a iphone and i got frustrated with iphone the unlocking the screen. i literally have swipe from the bottom and it doesnt give leeway swipe to unlock its an easy fix apple. settings are all over the place why cant i go to camera setting from the camera app. it was frustrating. i got it because in egypt they wont let take your money out of the country to take it back to australia so i bought a iphone. the ringtones need to jump through hoops or buy one from apple. when moving apps from screen to screen to organise it one by one i can select on samsung the apps and move all at once to the new page. its all small stuff but its alot of small stuff
I want to try out galaxy so bad but my apple environment is preventing me😂. Currently Rivian is touching me but I can’t leave Tesla environment. Technology = drug? 😂😢
I think this video is more of an American-biased video. The Green v Blue discussion is largely isn't a factor in Europe, Asia and The Middle East.
Agreed and it's such a simple minded debate.
so true
Do you guys not have facetime?

can always try 2 phones!
Great vid Jon. Due to the fact that I have both phones, I tend to keep my core functions to apps that are on both platforms.
Thank you!
Yeah I think imma switch to the pixel this year…. I’m trying to wait for the pixel 10 but I really love the rose quartz color
It's an awesome phone. I have the pixel 9 pro fold it's the best phone experience I have ever experienced on a phone
GREAT phone
The point of this video: don’t switch
Make the switch.
I would say don't be too hardware dependent
@I don’t have much choice I guess. If the MacBook is the most convenient laptop for me, switching to an Android phone would seem illogical. I would lose the added convenience of a seamless ecosystem that works perfectly right out of the box.
Not necessarily. Just want people to know that obstacles they'll face.

I was surprised to see that Samsung smart switch also transferred f Droid apps and settings over to a new galaxy device.
right?
I switched from Pixel 5 to Pixel 9 Pro loving it ;)

the esim worry is real
Thankfully, messaging is a non-issue for most of the world as we weren't foolish enough to get roped into using an app owned by Apple
Just switched to a pixel 9 pro from a 13pm... Ngl im loving it and couldn't be happier

I’m seriously considering switching next…this year. How difficult is it to switch the apple created passwords, is there an easy solution?
if you mean the password manager. extremely easy. you just export the passwords from apples app and the import the file to the new app.
There is an export option in Settings → Apps → Safari and below History and Website Data tap Export and only select Passwords
@@j.jsamra TY
@@j.jsamra yeah, pretty easy export-import

ANDROiD to iOS its OK!.. but for iOS to ANDROiD ..
to each their own. Thats the beauty of choice.
Samsung's ecosystem has surpassed Apple's a while ago.
Surpassed? I don't think so.
its def good but not that good yet
