- Remote and far-flung, the island of Saint Helena is partially trapped in a time-warp and largely untouched by the outside world. The 'Saints' who live here lead a life that is very different to those of us who have grown up in big cities. But we've discovered that the best way to learn about the world is by listening to how other people experience it. You may be pleasantly surprised by what you can learn from this remote island community!

Indeed. I sent the video to a friend who told me last night that she is old and tired, at 51.
It makes us realise how lucky we are, given the situation.. I know I could survive that lifestyle and I would have less stress than there is in my life at the moment .. I grew up living off the land and have never forgotten that,
I've been living in the countryside with my partner for 10 yrs, on top of a hill, in a very small village. I own very little, never had a car, a TV, no computer anymore only a smartphone, I grow most of my food, I live a very essential life, I spend lots of time outdoors with my dogs or in the kitchen cooking food using my creativity, I practice meditation every day.
And I'm happy. As I've never experienced before in my tormented life.
Yes, dreams come true if we're true to ourselves and our intentions are pure.

Wow-- that 94 year old woman, looks so young and is really strong for being in her mid-90s...you can see the goodness and glow of joy and contentment in her eyes. A simple life --so refreshing and free. Inspirational is what this video represents.

I envy these lovely people their lives in such beautiful surroundings. I am of an age now that I know that possessions mean nothing , family means more than anything in our chaotic lives. I can't imagine a warmer and happier laugh than the one of this 94 year old lady. The people you show in your videos seem to be so wise in appreciating the things they got and so wise in feeling rich as they are content with the things they are given! They are truly saints! But the reality is that most of us can't or will never be able to live life like them.....even though deep in our hearts we yearn for something like this.....yet circumstances and situations in our lives prevents us from enjoying the most meaningful way of life...and that is to live simple yet hard working life until you've reached a point where all the materialistic things of the world become meaningless.....oh! peace and happiness in my heart....how I yearn for it..

Few rich and famous persons should be travelling to such a beautiful "Paradise" Island and live at least a few days in their life time...So that, that will be a source of Income for the locals.....In the coming decade that will happen. Lack of Airlink to St.Helena was the hindrance all these days. Good luck to all St.Helenians !

So inspiring. "just be a happy saint". I found a note in my old cupboard today by one of the professors in my undergrad saying "Life's wisdom is not found in books. Travel and meet people who are unlike you, find what makes you happy" and then this video comes! Everything is pointing towards reflecting on my life decisions and meditating on my soul's craving, perhaps taking a new turn now. Hoping to move close to nature in the coming years 🤞if the universe aligns.

Live on a small island myself off the coast of maine, was born and raised here. It gets into your blood/soul. Had to grow up being self reliant, jack of all trades, master of none. Thank you for bringing me to another island, how ever, as a famous girl once said, "There is no place like home" :)

To hear from the elderly are such inspiration. Their experience from life is wonderful and should be more cultivated by our families, communities and countries. I listen to them and I feel differently good about the world. That I can be free to love.

If we want paradise, just being good in nature. If nature give you a good thing, it will give you happiness. There was a good movie about to learn more how we united and be good to nature, then watch the movie, Raya and the last dragon.

This is the way life is meant to be lived. We are blessed to have what we need. We all want to have as much as possible to show others that we are successful.
You can create a sanctuary for the animals, insects, plants and birds and other forms of life, for yourself in a way of balance.
Being grateful, happy, passionate, creative and feeling love and grace in each moment of being alive.
I have lived on isolated islands, swamps, wilderness areas and other places that are way off of the beaten path. I have realized that we can be present in our lives and feel like we are in a paradise that is anywhere near or far. It is a matter of being alive in our passions and creativity and how we see, feel, choose to live in our environment.
Living in the love of being able to be the person who is unique and that is your rhythm and your heart's delight. Remember to be present and to be yourself with your love for life.

I am still here in Sydney waiting for life to return to business as usual so that I can go visit St Helena, the home of my maternal great grandpa. Thank you for this inspirational video.

@@kersie2000 unfortunately the price we pay for not having the government making the “vaccine” mandatory, is that they will make it impossible to live an acceptable life unless you prove you have taken it. That especially includes no foreign travel. In the end, we will all be forced to comply.

I had the pleasure of visiting Tristan da Cunha on my old Royal Navy ship, but never got to see St Helena. It looks to be a truly magical place..
My dads side of the family is from this Island. The Sims. I Lived there for a year between '85-'86. Loved the sea fishing. It's a beautiful little Island.

Such an amazing story too..she is 94, but looks like 70-75 and acts like a happy young lady!! Brilliant!! And that unconditional happiness and joy which radiates through out her!! And how satisfied these men are too, gives us a following example!!

Everyone of those good people are very wealthy spiritually, you can't buy what they have got because it's free.
There are some Americans I know who have moved to Costa Rica or even to Belize to live a more simple meaningful life away from westernized society and all its materialism and emptiness. Some people escape trying to find themselves or their purpose. I've had the option of moving to Morocco and starting over but I decided to go through my journey amidst the chaos.
I think it's all mindsets. Regardless of where we decided to live we have to remind ourselves that our happiness is up to us. It's not from materials or what parts of the world we're in. Happiness is a choice.
@Tina teews - Very well said. We can all apply this to our lives, no matter where we live - it's about recognising how, in so many ways, we are blessed, and to be truly thankful for what we have.
You don't have to LEAVE America to live a simple, meaningful life :). I have my comfortable little home on some beautiful acreage out in the countryside. I make a quick trip to the nearby town maybe once a month, to pick up a few basic necessities. I have everything I need right here. A couple of companion animals that I love dearly, my garden--flowers and trees, and the lovely sound of bird song. Books make up the largest percentage of my entertainment...and videos like this one!
Some of us find meaning in the West. If you find meaning in going to an island without books, something to be said.

Your way of life resemble the island I was born 74 years back. Loving people, kind and gentle. Childhood full of fun 😊 and happy. Even though our poverty, life was pure and simple, at least for me. My siblings and I lacked certain things, but we were so innocent and positive about the future. Maybe that's the reason why when we left because of a revolution we started a new life with a hopeful perspective and we work hard to attain a better life for our future. But keeping always in mind the importance of maintaining a spiritual perspective.
