- Finally traveling! As you all know, Vietnam has been very safe for the past couple months and travel has been encouraged by the government. I finally took my opportunity to travel, so I hope you enjoy the videos from a new location!
Started today off with one of Vietnam’s most popular southern foods, Com Tam. Broken rice at a restaurant so popular it is called the “waiting restaurant”. I would definitely wait for this rice meal, the perfect broken rice texture and a sauce that was a gift from the heavens. Not to forget the amazing grilled up pork chop and pork rib. Accompanied with some pickles and a gorgeous egg casserole, this has been one of the best broken rice dishes I have ever had.
Next, Tim and I went to cool off with some sweet treats. Che, with durian has my name all over it. The combination of the beans, jellies, durian, and ice make for the perfect way to cool off in the Southern Vietnamese heat.
Lasty, we went out way into the country to find some of the best food in Rach gia. A place surrounded by the lake with huts for your own personal dining experience. Seafood dishes, vegetables, and an assortment of yummy bites made this a true experience. And when I thought the meal was good and going, I found out that it had only begun.

Hi Max, have you ever been to Vung Tau city? I highly recommend making a trip there to get away from the Saigon heat and enjoy some Banh Khot.
I believe that it will be difficult for you to leave the country 🇻🇳🇻🇳🇻🇳🇻🇳, because the food you are eating is one of the common dishes of the Vietnamese people, there are many. , I hope you will have the opportunity to enjoy, especially .. the price in Vietnam will make you, always feel satisfied ..

@@Macoi24 i love your channel
Nice comment and agree with you. But please don't post the communist flag!!!???
@@KSunshine what's wrong with using the flag? it looks pretty cool.
@@KSunshine why don't??
You are not Vietnamese?
the man in black t-shirt definitely knows his local area so you've tasted the best spots in Rach Gia..
He’s a Rach Gia Viet kieu for sure.
Nhìn món ăn thân thuộc của Việt Nam mình được 1 người nước ngoài ăn một cách ngon lành và tận hưởng như vậy. Thật là xúc động ❤
I love how you put in the effort to assimilate to our culture. You eat the best local food and master the chopsticks. Hope you always have fun!!!
cách ăn uống mà mình rất thích ở anh này là " sạch sẽ" đúng ở cả 2 ý nghia đen + bóng
I so appreciate how you enjoy the Vietnamese food and our culture. YOU'RE THE BEST !!!!
I love how you always try and truly enjoy the most unique and authentic Vietnamese food instead of just some famous dishes. Keep up the good work!
I am impressed that you can eat the durian , not a lot of westerner can stand the smell let alone tastes it.
Max, I can't get over the fact that a small town southern boy with distinct southern accent can eat and enjoy Asian food like you do. ♥️ your openness to try everything. You seem so down to earth. ♥️ your energy. ♥️ your personality and attitude toward life. ♥️ that you interact with the locals and learn about their stories. ♥️ your food reviews. ♥️ your reactions. ♥️ that you ♥️ Asian food. I watched all your Vietnam food videos and ♥️ them all. Holly, the amount of chilli🌶🌶🌶 you can eat. It is amazing to watch you eat durian and mắm tôm. Very impressive. Incredible content and videos. Thank you for sharing your journey and experience through making and sharing these videos! 👍 👏 ⭐ 🍜 🥮 🍧 🍮 ☕ 🍵 🥢🌶🥥
haha so crazy that I am here but I wouldnt want to be anywhere else. Thank you for watching everything. Wishing you the best!
Your channel is sooooo underrated. I love the way you described the dish. Hope your channel to grow more!
Thank you so much!!!
I think it's great you've made Vietnamese friends who can also speak English ❤️👍🏼
Thank you for introducing a lot of Vietnamese cuisine to those who do not know. Vietnam loves you
love how you express your feeling about our food , thank you so much
I am an overseas student in Germany. We don't have such delicious Vietnamese food here. It's quite funny when I'm a Vietnamese but feel craving and miss Vietnamese food every time watching you eat and review them. Hopefully, I can taste them again one day soon. I love the way you tried and reacted to our food. Your openness, attitude and personality inspired me a lot. Thank you!
So nice to see Max enjoy traditional family meal. It's what we grew up eating at home. Everyone here in the states love ca kho to!
When I look at you eat Cơm Tấm , I very proud of you.
Wow I like your food.. thank you for videos. I will go to Vietnam just to eat.
Please do!
Good to see you get back out and going somewhere. Especially love seeing you relaxing and watching traffic💕
This is where my parents were from and where I was born! My family moved to the US when I was 3, so seeing this video was an ABSOLUTE delight. It’s the next best thing to being there myself. I also shared this video with my mom, and she said she was immediately salivating at the dishes. 😂
Another awesome video, Max. Well done. I can tell you enjoy the whole experience and thank you for sharing it with us.
Finally, Max is truely experiencing the authentic Southern Vietnamese daily meals near the end of video in the hut at Phu Dien Entertainment Park. Although I enjoy his videos of dine-in/street-food meals in Saigon; but they are not the usual/routine Vietnamese home-cooked meals. His meals today at the eatery-house are indeed authentic home cooked-styled meals. No matter how many fancy restaurants I visit, home-cooked meals are my foods of choice at the end of the day.
Love your work! It always gives me the munchies late at night. Stay safe in your travels, Max!
Fully agree that sometimes you should put down the camera and enjoy yourself. The pork chop, durian dessert and the seafood meal look so delicious. 👍👍👍
Thank you for understanding!
Max looked like you had an amazing trip. The food looked so delicious and your reactions are priceless. The most important thing is to also enjoy yourself so you keep the love of making these videos for us. If you dont enjoy it the quality will go down. It shows in your videos that you are truly in love with doing these. Keep up the great work man and look forward to your next one.
Thank you brother! I just enjoy getting a little bit better with each video! Thanks for watching always and glad you still enjoy!
I love how much you love Asian food ❤️

Making me crave Vietnamese food now. Can’t wait for the next 🤤🤤
Anh này đúng là dân chuyên nghiệp, ăn nói rất hay

Glad you like them!
the sweetness from "Bong bi xao" is the purest thing in this life :))
This video is awesome! There are heaps of delicious food in Rạch Giá city and that cơm tấm dish was a killer, the look of satisfaction on your face says it all. Thumps up!!!!!
Wow! What an awesome day you had! Happy to see you are on a road trip with company - I am confident that you're in good hands with Tim#2 (so I'm sure you'll be eating lots of good food on your trip!). Especially looking forward to you experiencing the baby's "1 month celebration" ("day thang") feast. That's going to be very special! Lucky for the baby & for you, Max!🍀🍀 Travel safely.
Yes! Thank you, cant wait to show you all that video!
I like the way you eat bowl of rice with chopsticks, it is very original Vietnamese style. They’ll love you so much!!!
Thank you, because you love Việt Nam
Cơm tấm ở VIÊT NAM là ngon nhất thêm ly cà phê sữa đá nữa là tuyệt
😁👍
I was so happy when I saw you visited Rạch Giá. That's my hometown. My mom used to sell cơm tấm when we were still back in Vietnam (30 yrs ago). I remember vividly that my sister and I used to help her do the dishes on the sidewalk. At the end of the day, she never made any profits because she was always half sold and half given.
Thanks for visiting. I’m able to get a glimpse of Rạch Giá through your video. I enjoy your content a lot.
Thank you for watching! Also thank you for sharing your story, I love haring stories!
My grandma house on Le van duyet street...and you sis ?
Wow actually I never have pickled veggie with the broken rice here in Sydney, maybe because not from Southern Vietnam hehe😁 But always love the charcoal grilled pork with fried egg on broken rice, perfect meal 😍
Tkank you for support of Vietnamese food
Cảm ơn bạn rất nhiều nhé chia xẻ các món ăn ngon quá nhìn thấy thèm 👍👍👏👏😋😋😋
The last place you were at looked beautiful 😍
I am glad you had a beautiful day
As always another great video 👌👏 love from 🇮🇪💚☘️❤️
you’re literally drinking the fish sauce I respect that
Everything looks delicious. I’m getting hungry from this video lol. Good one Max!
Rach Gia was my home town 43 years ago. I came to America in 1978. I still miss the banh cam.
Max you provide us with enough footage to enjoy so please also enjoy the moments yourself!
thank you so much!
7:17 that's how you show respect to the chef😂
Wow that look good Max !!!
Man, those are delicious traditional dishes from "Mien Tay". I know how to cook those too but it is still the best to eat them at local restaurants. If you like sweet kinda taste, you will love all the food there. Enjoy!!!!!!
Rạch Giá City, Kiên Giang... đây là những món ăn quê tui
Thanks so much 4 share! I love ca Kho and thit kho
It’s awesome to see you eat rice in a bowl with chopsticks like a true Vietnamese; I do the same at home. It’s so addictive watching you eat, because your favorite Vietnamese dishes are also mine. I appreciate you even more now after learning about your background on the interview with “Tam Show”. You must be eating right, because you look so happy and healthy. You’re my favorite foodie now.
amazing, so happy you saw that episode! Thank you for the love and support! Yes, I am the happiest I have ever been.
We should be the one thanking you. I wonder if your family and friends back in Arkansas watch your videos, and what they think about your food adventures.
@@kimpham5508 Yeah, I'm also curious about what Max's family thinks of his adventures. Maybe he can answer in his next live stream. :)
It's really great to see you enjoying Vietnamese food so much. As a Vietnamese person, I love Vietnamese food. It's harder to find that sweet treat banh cam with the toffee on top and mung bean filling here in Sydney, Australia so when I see it in Bankstown, NSW - I always get it! I think you understand Vietnamese cuisine quite well now. It's all about balancing the flavours and textures. Yum, yum! My mum's family is from the south, Rach Gia too so this is lovely to see. I enjoyed this video a lot. Thanks!
Max you are so original. Becoming one of my favorite food channels
You know how I know you’re a cool guy? Cause you put the bowl up to your mouth and shovel in the rice like a Vietnamese. Awesome food spots. Makes me want to head back to the motherland and to my dads home town of Rach Gia.
🙏🙏🙏
I am amazed at every video you make in vietnam! You're eating all the right things! So delicious! 😍
I miss home. Cant wait for when you have 1 million subs 😜
haha slow and steady forsure! thank you so much for the support!
Cái cách mà bạn ăn sạch các món ăn thật tuyệt. Nó làm mình cảm thấy bạn giống như là một người dân Việt Nam chân chất thật sự!
người việt luôn ăn chừa lại một ít 🤣🤣
My birthplace! some of the best food and coffee in Vietnam in my opinion ;) really enjoyed watching your videos
Cách anh ấy giới thiệu về các món ăn làm tôi rất ấn tượng!
This is my hometown; Rach Gia's foods is the best
Agree...❤❤
Love com tam. Looks delicious ❤️😋❤️
Bravo for another fantastic video! Keep 'em coming Max!
More to come!
Nearly 3 years ago I caught my coach from Hue to Saigon cost me 13 Pounds including the meals stopping over 2 or 3 restaurants they gave me plenty of food + fish + tofu+ vegetables+ some meat plus some rice and drinking tea. It was an excellent journey. It was better than a plane.
You’ve stayed in Vietnam long enough, I can tell your Vietnamese is getting better =))) even tho it’s just foods name. You sound like a local already 😂🤣😂
Thanks! 😃 Now to actually start learning haha
I loooove com tam!!!
The way Max enjoy his food makes me hungry!
I love seeing your travels through Vietnam, wishing you the best of success on your channel.
Thank you!
Man, you're like 2 blocks from my house and I was in Saigon. Could've had some coffee with you if I was home. Great video as usual! Rarely to see food bloggers come to my city so I'm thankful for that
Everytime i watch your video about Viet Nam i feel kind of happy when we still have much more wonderful dishes that you havent tried. Hope you can visit and explore our North and capital some day
Will do!
you are so amazing man, keep up the amazing work. thanks for the video
Video chất lượng, lời nói và hình ảnh ăn khớp, Max dễ mến và phong cách.
Look how he “lùa cơm” with those chopsticks Omg Max you’re really Việt Nam 🤣
The people's food - com tam - is the best. Your chopticks and rice shoveling technique is improving, grasshopper.
haha thank you master
Thanks for the great food videos!! Love your cleaner, short hair cut btw!
I miss "Com Tam and Bong Bi xao". You have enjoyed great dishes already.
Whoa, those shrimp and prawn dishes toward the end of the video look heavenly! So fresh and tasty-looking. But everything you tried before that looks incredible too, especially the com soon cong bi cha. Wow! And I love what you said at the very end about putting the camera down and being in the moment. I'm really happy to hear that you take the time to enjoy the experiences you have. That's what life is all about, right? Fantastic video as usual, brother! Looking forward to the next one!
Thank you 😋I agree, got to live in the moment!
@@Macoi24 You're welcome, man!
keep going, hope you enjoy, love
A review món ăn đúng hay luôn
Wow video có phụ đề chúc anh thành công
cảm ơn
I love the Vietnamese people they always make a sort of joke out of somewhat annoying situations “the waiting restaurant” as this guy said reminded me of a guy at the airport in Hanoi who told me they call VietJet Air “I’m sorry airlines” because always they say I’m sorry but your flight has been delayed😂😂😂.
hahaha that is too funny!
There was a no name Cơm Tấm (broken rice) by the curbside Võ Văn Tần St. D.3 HCM.c but the owner only operated when it was dark (traffic cop became more tolerant, why not, he'd got a free meal anyway) The Saigonese dubbed this as Cơm Tấm Ma or Ghost Rice since daylite frighten owner.
When I was abroad, there were 4 pedestrian crossings in short intervals of a bustling st. many pedestrians who really took their time multi-tasking crossing, texting despite the long waiting traffic. Many VNmese motorists swore D. Ma (Mother F ***) then that street became D.Ma Rd. or Mother F***er Rd.
I speak English with quite heavy accent, when I depreciated of what others done to me I'd say: "Thanks from the heart of my bottom"
"What ? It's From the bottom of my heart. Moron"
"Yes, that's what I meant" & silently "from the heart of my bottom - in my Venglish"
I also often call VietJet Air is "Delay Airlines" LOL
hahha
Lol😜😜❤❤👍👍
Watching again your videos and remembered the days you uploaded videos more frequently. Hope to see you back again on RUclips, especially in Vietnam. Take care!
Thèm ghê, nhớ Sài Gòn quá.
You are in the heart of South VN. Damn, you eating all my favorite dishes in my mom’s hometown. Max, you’re a true southerner with all that heat you’re eating. Too much even for me. And if you genuinely like Che, then you are becoming VN. I’m addicted to it. At least I can enjoy it in California too. Kudos to you for enjoying life to the fullest!
My favourite!!!
Awe-Some Video Great Max!!!!! I want to eat the foods that u had in this Rach Gia Video!!!! Thank you very much for taking us with you to Rach gia mouth watering foods, YOU are the BEST! Its no surprise they call you MAX!!!!
Glad you enjoyed it, Jason! haha that's too funny!
Pork barbecue rice and ice cold sweet dessert yummy! That's something I've been craving to eat lately.
I remembered I watched 2 or 3 videos about your 1st travel to Vietnam in 2018 (I may be wrong, you travelled to Kuala Lumpur as well around that time). You were super super duper happy eating cơm tấm and I was thinking I wished I could be in Vietnam to be that happy. Now you seem to be permanent in there, isn't it? Cool!
haha oh wow, feels like so long ago! Yes, I live in Vietnam now!
Max McFarlin - The fish sauce and chilies lover
