Ngọc Xuyến - Saigon has a lot of Banh Mi but for me this one really is something different. Doing all the cold cuts correctly and infusing so much flavor into each one. The nem chua has to be my favorite bye far. The bread here is also different from other breads you get in Saigon as it has a pull and density to it.

Bánh Tráng Dừa Mạch Nha- A sweet treat with the addition of the barley syrup. The texture of the banh trang, coconut together with the sweetness made this a snack which I kept coming back for to eat.

Way to go Max! This place offers endless entres and sides. I used to eat at Picaddilly, a caferia- styled restaurant. You can pick any entre with 2 sides and drink, price ranges depend on the entre. It's cheaper to eat in Vietnam, food is flavorful and delicious. Wish I'm there...

Món này rất ít chỗ còn bán ở SG. 2 năm trước tôi cũng được ăn lại sau gần 30 năm không được ăn.
That snack at the end is called "bánh tráng kẹo mạch nha" which is "sponge rice paper with barley sugar". It was my no.1 snack of ALL TIME when I was a kid, yet I haven't had them for like 10 years and totally forgot about its existence. You really brought me down my memory lane with that for sure. This is why I love your videos so much. Those nostalgic moments, those memories ... Tomorrow I'll definitely go look for that lady. Thank you, Max, I really do !

8:25 when my mom cooks that kho stuff usually the oil is from the fish or pork that gets rendered out from cooking. they also add oil in the beginning to lubricate it.
Omg! The last time I had that snack, “bánh tráng kẹo bạch nha”, was 30+ years ago. It’s definitely a childhood snack and brings back so much memories. Thanks for sharing.

"Cơm bình dân" is the 2nd family meal of most Vietnamese people when they cannot go home. It's good and cheap. (Tip for you For dishes that have a sauce such as 'heo quay cải chua' ...you should pickle the chili into the sauce to increase the flavor of the dish ) . Enjoy the meal !
