If your clothes are not getting clean or you can see that your wash plate is no longer agitating freely from the basket, this is a very likely culprit. I’ll be going over several other issues with this type of washer. Even if your specific model is not the one named in this video, if it has the 6 LED lights on the panel with the pause/play button, they are pretty much the same thing. I’ll be making tons more videos on these washers.
    Tools needed:
    5/16” socket or nut driver
    1/2” socket or nut driver
Philips head screw driver or bit
If your machine has the RED actuator, this is NOT the correct part and I will be posting a video on that one soon!
I will be posting a link very soon on exactly where to get these OEM parts, it’s still in the final stages of set up, but until then, feel free to email me at
derrick@re-appliances.com and I will get back with you as fast as I can!!

Little detail on getting the machine into diagnostic mode: when spinning the knob ccw to ready it for the R-R-R-L-R, make sure the knob starts out from the detent, not halfway out of the detent (you can feel it). I always had trouble getting the machine to go into diagnostic mode before I made sure of this.

I have (had) that very same machine that would walk in a spin cycle. It turned out it was the ring at the top, that is supposed to be liquid filled, being empty. It was almost as expenditures to replace that part as it was to by a new machine with an old school agitator.

Thank you sooo much! This was my problem, sort of. My washer broke down a couple weeks ago and I took the entire tub out because I found some change stuck in between the actuator and the tub. 2 dimes had both sides with he pictures gone, smooth as could be. Cleaned the tub real good and put it back together. Still not working. I have been busy and not able to look into it since and found this video this morning. Took that cover off the bottom and saw the actuator. The arm was not in that loop! Some how it must have come out. Not sure if one of the kids over loaded it or if the change jammed something. I put the arm back in the loop and she is back working like a champ!

We just bought new LG dryer and washers. I had to replace a plastic coupler that connects the motor to the transmission that turns the tub in my Kenmore at 10 years. I sat there in disbelief. They build in planned obsolescence on these things. Most people would have thrown that thing out at 10-12 years when it broke. The motor and everything else except the power on, lid switch easily made it 20 years. 🫤

First, thank you for all the appliance repair videos (they're fascinating and encouraging), as well as for the "two moms" video (I can relate).
If you field questions, I have one:
I THINK my Kenmore 70 series washer has a drum-balancing problem?
It runs fine if we only use the low-water setting, but within a cycle or two at a higher water setting it will fill the tub to the requested level, but then fail to agitate or spin.
If I open the lid and push on the top of the agitator it will tilt the basket in the direction I'm pushing and by pushing it in various directions it will suddenly kick in and begin agitating and often complete the entire wash without further issue (though sometimes it won't spin or spin fully after draining and I have to turn it back to a wash setting and re-jiggle the agitator, then move the dial to spin after the agitator kicks in.
I used to have to try pushing the agitator in many directions and even move the agitator in a circle before it would start, but I finally noticed that pushing it to the left usually does the trick.
I'm guessing *something* (a support rod, perhaps?) isn't stabilizing/maintaining the basket in a sufficiently upright position and some sensor is complaining?
I've searched Google and YT and found many links to washers not agitating or spinning, but I've yet to find any where it'll start working again with a push or jiggle.
A few yrs ago I went to the time and expense of replacing a Maytag Bravo's suspension rods when all search hits said that was needed for the error code it would display before not spinning, but it didn't fix the error so I'm reluctant to just replace anything before I have reason to think it'll fix it.
Thanks again, whether you answer the question or not. I really enjoy your vids.

Trust me it's on purpose. In the 90's washers were bullet proof and they worked extremely well. All the parts were replaceable and they had mechanical motorized controllers. No boards and no electronics. Now everything is plastic and cheap with overcomplicated digital microcontrollers on a board that runs and times everything. You can only replaced the entire control board and it's $250 if you're lucky. Find a top load washer from the 90's. It cleans your clothes better if it's clean and you use the right amount of detergent. They use much more water which is where you get your cleaning performance. You can also get a Speed Queen washer which are commercial quality but they are expensive. Like $1500. Some models still have the electromechanical timer which lasts for 25 years.

The exact model I've been having problems with, we've been commenting back and forth on another video about.
I checked it again, even with new rods, and a new drive hub kit. The basket wobbles separately from the agitator, a little excessively.
