If you don’t have strength to move their hand behind their back, you can also try pinning the hand to the mat, moving your whole body sideways (which in turn will place opponents pinned hand behind their back) and then passing their hand to your other hand
I have followed all your videos, and you instruction video’s. I have to say they’re worth it an working. Last roll I was asked to just keep it to the moves we learned in class that day🤷♂️🤙🏻
Learned this move in judo in japan in 2002 from a old judo master I used lots of times against bjj players it sucks to have your arm trapped underneath you great content brings back some memories
This is a personal fave. When I do it, I like to pin their hand flat to the mat, posture up, then scoot back. It turns it into like a kimura if they don’t open their guard and if they do you get a free pass
I love this pass Jordan thanks so much ❤ no threat of them shifting out and having a back take because you have the arm trapped by your right arm, they can’t spin over
I love this pass. My coach teaches it a little different. Instead of head on the mat we base the head on their chin. It’s super uncomfortable. We also sprawl the hip down with force. A lot of times the guard breaks from the sprawl along with the discomfort of the head on the chin.
I got this from one of my Instructors quite a while back. Nobody uses this in my gym, and I think it is a great pass since you can also force a kimura when you put your head over to the other side. Lots of control with this one! Details fade over time, but now I'm up and fresh again 😄
I’m having so much difficult passing guard against guys that are flexible. They frame and pull half guard, then I’m in a situation where I’m fighting to not enter their guard.
Hi Jordan, watched this yesterday and used in sparring in the evening as our current topic is closed guard. It worked a charm on everyone!!! I'm just curious what you would prefer to do once you have passed? Do you hold onto their arm to try and submit?
Once you trap the arm behind their back, keep positive control of that wrist and also, grab the trapped arms elbow on the opposite side with your free hand. Lower your butt to the mat and push with your hands to extend your back and body toward their feet. Theyll either let go or kimura themselves. Once they let go, make sure you flatten out on the and kick your legs out and go to side control, then mount. You could stop there but i like to keep the handcuff and get a sub. So, with the handcuff from mount i will roll over and pull them on top of me and put them in my closed guard. Then you just pull up on that trapped arm. It is veeeeery easy to do in the gi, esp if you get a good grip on their sleeve.
I’ve been trying to work what I thought this pass was for a while now, I’ve gotten it on some people but flexible people give me trouble. I like the hip switch, I’ll try that
Since I’m smaller a lot of bigger guys do this to me so I had to figure out what can I do in this position from bottom. I’ve found out that as soon as they trap that arm I can scoot my body under at an angle like I’m going for a flower sweep and sweep over my left shoulder since their right arm is also trapped.
I do something similar from my back too, sometimes manage to grab their wrist from around their back and just slowly bridge to sweep them (so they don't fuck their shoulder up as it's in that awkward position)
Quick question. One of my peers did this to me but he leaned his head against my jawline INSTEAD of the floor as shown in your video. Is there a reason why you are leaning your head against the floor instead of your opponents face?
@@troysdogtraining did you not see the “that’s what I call it” part of my comment? If it doesn’t have a name, a name shall be given. Shit, I could call it the Mexican handcuff for all anyone seems to care.
@JordanTeachesJiujitsu that you for this man, I have added this to my arsenal. Just a question, once you trap their arm, do you still need to hold the hand or can I let it go to use both hands to help pass the guard? Thanks for all the information man, I start BJJ 3 months ago and just love it. Your channel and podcast are great! Keep it up and I'm rooting for you boss if you go again Bradley Martin lol
Or you can put your other hand on their elbow after passing their hand. Set yourself and push up while also scooting hips back and get the tap. If they don’t tap then they’ll break their guard and you can then roll them into behind the back Kamura immediately after the pass. At least I hope I explained that well enough to understand.
The knee on the thigh is a genius move. Plus it hurts like a mf. Once you get the knee on the thigh you might be able to just push the other leg off you because the opponent is in pain
I really like this pass, any suggestion for a submission to go to once you pass? Or do you just release the hammerlock grip once you’ve passed to side control and work from there?
It’s a very good pass but it can be dangerous. My good friend who was a real Jiujitsu addict quit the sport, after he got a shoulder injury from a hesvy guy 50kg heavier than him using this pass. Tore his shoulder from it & it left him unable to work for months. I know, many moves are dangerous In Jiujitsu but be careful using this one. Yes, he tapped due to the pain but it was so quick, it was too late.
Monkey grip is normally since the thumb in a C grip would stop their wrist from going up but that's hard thing to do in the position their arm is in anyways. A monkey grip will provide more strength going down. Which is where they want to position their hand to escape.
If you get caught in that pass just reach and defend with your free hand. You can stall until they let go. Just did it in tournament. I aint letting no sleezy shit pass my guard

Was it the switch of the hips?

You got some aesthetics on those quads bro!
If you don’t have strength to move their hand behind their back, you can also try pinning the hand to the mat, moving your whole body sideways (which in turn will place opponents pinned hand behind their back) and then passing their hand to your other hand

Doing awesome man. Keep it up. Looking forward to getting your course
Is the arm pass harder to do with resistance? If so is there technique to defeat this?
I love this, it seems inspired by a wrestling pin. The old school way of passing is so bad and just based on who's stronger and bigger. Really cool
You're a legend and I love you.

Lovely, this is amazing. more of this my guy
Will do!
Sao Paulo Pass? But with the added arm behind the back! I dig it thats a sweet adjustment
Such a powerful pass 🙌
As a long legged closed guard user, I absolutely hate this pass.
super curious how to counter this if you're playing bottom...
Definitely tight 😉
Also a fun grip when you're the one with full guard
Simple and brilliant
Sneakyyyyyyy LOVE IT 👏 👏
My go to in closed guard! It's sneaky. I initiate asap before my opponent starts anything. Works on most level.

Getting that arm in my gym is going to be tough. Any suggestions on how to get that arm straight like that? Thansk
Used this many times even in competition
Learned from Marcelo Garcia around 2010
I'm a white belt. A guy did this to me in competition. Really cool. I've started doing this to my training partners 😂
The hammer lock pass. It's great
How do you defend if you’re on bottom? Thanks
This is a powerful closed guard pass. It's also really annoying when someone does it to you 😂

Will this work in a gi
Yea i do this alot, didnt know it was an actual pass
Does anyone know of a counter to this once the arm is trapped behind the back?
Dagestani handcuff! That’s what I call it, it’s my favorite for sure. Works great in the Gi also
lol that is not a dagistani handcuff 😅 there’s no such thing. the dags just call 2 on 1 wrist control a dagestani handcuff.

Idk about you guys but I just finished.
I just realized why this hasn’t been working for me. I didn’t keep my head on the mat all the way through
whats the name of this pass?
Is this kind of like a no gi version of the lapel pressure pass where you feed your partner’s lapel under their leg and to your opposite arm?
Or you can put your other hand on their elbow after passing their hand. Set yourself and push up while also scooting hips back and get the tap. If they don’t tap then they’ll break their guard and you can then roll them into behind the back Kamura immediately after the pass.
At least I hope I explained that well enough to understand.
I like to stand up to pass and if they go for my leg, I trap the arm and then do this.
jeez i think this one would be sick in mma gotts try it

Can you do Darce choke or Anaconda with the arm trapped like that?

Great pass. Can go straight into a hammer lock
Do you monkey or regular grip the arm behind their back?
