I remember this and actually thought that Phil and Jordan were coming to NY next season. Dreams don't come true

It very nearly did man. Years later everyone involved spilled that it came down to the Jerrys caving at the 11th hour. Mike and Faulk had a deal with the Knicks for ungodly money (in the 30 million range) that Chicago had to match by midnight. Too bad they blinked. In a better timeline, MJ and Pat put on a show superior to Shaq and Kobe, 4- or 5-peat, and retire as Knicks.

Prophetic words by Peter Vecsey- Jordan nearly did come to the Knicks. And he was right to doubt Reinsdorf’s statement about Mike not being that vindictive. Anyone who knows MJ well and isn’t in denial knows his competitive obsession can lead him to be extremely vindictive. In the Game 4 when he and the Bulls swept Orlando this 1996 season- a revenge series for the Magic’s 95 6-game victory- MJ held his scoring to 45 points by missing two late-game free throws. This was to get back at Nick Anderson who a year earlier said, “45 doesn’t play like 23.”

No it wasn’t. He missed two straight free throws. Get over it!
He also missed two straight free throws in Game 1 vs the Magic in 1995 in Orlando. The Nick Anderson Steal Game.
Jordan has missed two straight free throws other times in his career as well.

This was the season where that 1994 core made its last stand. Mason and Hubert Davis were given bigger roles and Patrick was pissed. The team seemed to quit on Nellie after a really hot start to the season... I think the started the season like 12-3.. After Christmas it all seemed to fall apart. That team was just getting old and it was time to change the roster a little bit.

technially its the 92 squad team .. yea that was they last stand thats when we had the great gm and president dave checketts and ernie grundfield and they went and got younger guys like houston LJ and childs and giving charlie ward a biggie role ...

16-5 in 2012-2013 we had matched our best start since that season

@@yungotcha Not exactly the 92 team- that team was better, and had Mark Jackson and X-man. This was indeed the 94 core with Derek Harper (replacing injured Doc Rivers) and Charles Smith replacing those guys and Mase coming off the bench.

@@jaymum23 your right i meant to say the 93 team ... i always get the years mix up .. thats the year we was number 1 seed in the east and 2 wins a way from beating mj and the bulls and going to the finals ... that was the last stand honestly... 94 we ran it back and almost won it all ...
