I agree!!! Back in the 70's I really didn't care for country music. I was more into pop & disco music. However, I was always a big John Denver fan thinking he was a pop singer, but felt he had a country sound. I started listening to country music & really appreciate it more. I really thank John Denver for it. Also, a big fan of Kenny Rogers & Glen Campbell. 💙💚😀❤💜💽💽💽...
my dad died yesterday and this songs inspired his life as a trucker, his code name was heartbreaker roll on dad rip i’ll see you when you get back home
Sorry to hear that Collen, remember Jesus loves you so much,He died to pay your sin debt in full. If you accept His sacrifice ,you have the gift of eternal life.
I got this album for Christmas back in 74 when I was 11 years old. I still have it. I’m 60 years old now and about to retire from trucking. I started driving trucks in 81 the same year I graduated from High School. After 41 years of trucking I can relate to the “tired old body” part of this song. John Denver, Bob Seger, and Merle Haggard have always been my favorite singer songwriters. I’ve followed John’s career since his first hit song in 71. This song takes me back to Southern California where I used to live when it came out on the radio. I’ll never forget John Denver and I hope to meet him someday in Heaven. 🙂
I am about a year younger than you, and I drove a truck for 25 years, and have been working since the 1970s. I am tired too. My mother had this album, there are about three or four good songs on this album, including this one. This song brings memories of the house we lived in Fort Wayne Ind, I remember playing this song, the house being warm in the winter, and my mother baking fresh cookies and bread. This song always bring back good memories.
The Hagg! I think of truckers when I hear "Big City." Glad you made it to the end of the road, driver. JD and old classic country keep the nation moving Jammer!
he was manic depressive,bi polar--all these beautiful songs he wrote for his wife who he cheated on,was abusive to--major drug use, total alcoholic--3 dui's-death came early, set him free
The line "There's a fire softly burning, supper's on the stove" makes me all warm inside. Picturing a little cozy cabin with a fire burning in a stone fireplace and the smell of a nice meal cooking. Ahhhh, the simple life. We all need to get back to the basics of life .
+Melissa Quick I can relate to that ,grew up when my mom would cook on a wood stove, man the food tasted so good slow cooked, in cast Iron pots boy I miss that.
My mother used a cast iron skillet alot. Her fried potatoes with onions were the best. The smell would fill the house and would linger for a while. Great comfort food.
+Melissa Quick My dear mother fried the onions and potatoes with calf liver. I hated the liver but ate it anyway. Didn't want to hurt her feelings. She's been gone 25 years now - think about that lovely lady every day.
Throwing on a pair of sweats, a flannel shirt and some wooly socks. Curling up to my sweetheart on the sofa. Watching the logs crackle in the fireplace after a long day. These are the good times.
As a retired senior USAF officer who has spent a year remote assignment away from his family, plus many more months of temporary duty away from family, this song hits home. I grew up in Colorado, love the mountains, and after retiring from the Air Force, eventually moved back home to Colorado. John Deutschendorf and I share the love of the Rocky Mountain High. As an amateur musician myself, and a DJ during high school and college, I deeply appreciate John's way with lyrics. RIP John.
Sometimes when I am driving I will remember my mother and I'll say out loud-"I miss you mother-I love you" and somehow for that brief couple seconds she is alive.
Was a trucker for 42 years lost my love and wife few yrs back and in her opinion this shoud have been the truckers anthem.John Denver was a GREAT TALENT and annies song is one of the greatest love songs ever written God bless him
My brother's in the final days of his life. Only 37 years old. I lost my mom 3 years ago to cancer and another brother 13 years ago at the young age of 25 to the flu. This song makes me think back to when we were all together as kids in the country. Now my wife and our kids are living that same life. I'm hoping they don't take this time for granted like most of us do.
I'm so sorry for the suffering imposed on you and your loved ones. We all suffer mostly the same things at some point in our lives I don't believe in the conventional "jesus/god" thing but I do believe that we live on in some form or other and I hope we meet up with and live with our loved ones and remember each other from our time on earth.
I am sorry for your losses. It sucks growing up and losing people. Keep listening to the music that keeps their memories alive and teach it to your kids.
I've been a truck driver for over 25 years and I can say honestly that this song has a personal meaning to me...especially when I get home here in Mobile Alabama after being gone 2-3 weeks. GREAT MEMORIES & REMINISCING TEARS.

I have been a John Denver fan since 1971. I have three of his Christmas albums. Where I used to live in Tucson, AZ a Rocky Mountain region state, many merchants wouldn’t see his Christmas albums at all for no damned reason and Loser City Tucson’s radio stations wouldn’t play his Christmas songs for NO damned reason. Tucson acts like John Denver never did any Christmas albums at all.
I once (in the eighties) accepted a ride on a lonely highway. At some point, the driver, a man younger than me, asked “What music do you like?” I said, “John Denver.” He said, in that arrogant, smarmy tone I had grown so accustomed to, “I’m sorry.” I came this close to asking him to pull over and let me out. But we were in the middle of nowhere. Some people never “got” John Denver.
I'm 70. In the 70's we packed up our 1975 F250 with her 10'2" Cab over and hit the vacation highway. Today our Grandchildren and even some of our Great-Grandchildren sing the songs of John Denver, The Statler Brothers and Kenny Rogers, just like back then. Great then, Great now!
If this song doesn't bring you comfort, if doesn't warm you inside, if doesn't give you a sense of peace and calm then probably nothing will and if you can relate to the song in any way if you've been to one of those places on a farm or truck it's going to be particularly special for you. I know it is for me
There are few songs I can think of that can so completely capture a sense of place like this: a farmhouse with a meal ready in the kitchen, a fire burning, rain coming down outside, and a weary traveler saying, “It’s good to be back home again,” with his wife. I really feel the line, “The afternoon is heavy on your shoulders.”
I live in a city, and whenever I listen to this song (or any John Denver song) it makes me want to pack my bags and move to the mountains. Lucky for me, I'm a teenager so I can do it. That'll be a good day.

When I arrived home after being overseas for a year. One of the first songs I heard was this beautiful song . It was 1978. No Where Illinois never looked so good as it did that morning Feb 23 1978.
I grew up in a very tiny village in the Philippines and for some reason, I always feel longing for that tiny village every time I hear this song. I guess the sad thing is the changes that happened from when I was a child and now. I went back there once and it's not the same. The little things I took for granted as a kid. What I would give to bring back the time.
this song was on the radio 50 yrs ago ..i was listening while fixing some things in our RENTAL....my wife passed in september... THIS BRINGS BACK SO MANY MEMORIES
Over 25 years & over 2 million safe driving miles logged. I love this song...i would almost cry when I heard it while I was on the road gone for 2-3 weeks at a time... I'M NOT ASHAMED TO ADMIT IT EITHER.
There's a storm across the valley, clouds are rollin' in The afternoon is heavy on your shoulders There's a truck out on the four lane, a mile or more away The whinin' of his wheels just makes it colder He's an hour away from ridin' on your prayers up in the sky Ten days on the road are barely gone There's a fire softly burning, supper's on the stove It's the light in your eyes that makes him warm Hey, it's good to be back home again Sometimes this old farm feels like a long lost friend Yes, and hey, it's good to be back home again There's all the news to tell him, how'd you spend your time? What's the latest thing the neighbors say And your mother called last Friday, sunshine made her cry You felt the baby move just yesterday Hey, it's good to be back home again, yes it is Sometimes this old farm feels like a long lost friend Yes, and hey, it's good to be back home again Oh, the time that I can lay this tired old body down Feel your fingers feather soft on me The kisses that I live for, the love that lights my way The happiness that livin' with you brings me It's the sweetest thing I know of, just spending time with you It's the little things that make a house a home Like a fire softly burning and supper on the stove The light in your eyes that makes me warm Hey, it's good to be back home again Sometimes this old farm feels like a long lost friend Yes, and hey, it's good to be back home again Hey, it's good to be back home again, you know it is Sometimes this old farm feels like a long lost friend Hey, it's good to be back home again I said, hey, it's good to be back home again
My sister died in January of 2005. She was just 43 yrs old. She told me once that this song always made her think of Thanksgiving. And so ever since she died i play this song every Thanksgiving. There hasnt been one Thanksgiving that i havent cried while listening to this song. No matter how much time passes by i still miss her and love her so much.
True story. My wife and I were driving from Virginia to Denver. Had XM Radio on. As we crossed Kansas into Colorado, "Rocky Mountain High" came on! I just KNEW that John Denver was welcoming us.
Sampylonghead Today's country music I can live my life without. Like other forms of popular music, country music has fallen victim to MTV, and is just as sexualized as any other form of popular music.
shut up just appreciate the music, why do you have to discredit other types of music just to prove that the music you listen to is better? There is music that is made today that is also good but ur stuck in ur ways which is fine but don't say everything made today is crap because that is not true and I'm sure people that are older than you thought the same thing about the music you listened to when you were younger
I'm a 12 year old girl who goes to a sleep away camp every summer. His songs truly remind of that place, because it is my second home. I love it there and I love his music. My friends and I sing "Take Me Home Country Roads" every year at he closing camp fire.
Becky Saborio Well, little lady, you just put a smile on my face when I read your comment. "Take Me Home Country Roads" is one song that plays in my head when I'm riding my horse down the dirt roads where I grew up and still live. It's so great to know that younger people like yourself are listening to this music and appreciating it!
Becky Saborio Enjoy those times as much and as long as you can. Unfortunately, they will be gone before you know it. But, you can still cherish the memories.
Randy Miller dank je wel voor het compliment,ik doe mijn best,en vereerd, dat meen ik dat je vindt dat ik een goede smaak heb voor mijn leeftijd, liefs marian❤️
First the song, and now the comments are making me cry… I’m 66 now, but when I was a teenager I liked this music, but it was too wholesome for me… Fast-forward 50 years and his music and lyrics are so soothing and beautiful that it’s very touching. It warms my heart every time I listen to it. 💖💖💖
@@martinalinkedtowe7348 I love this song soo much too. If I understand "depressed life" right, than we have the same problem. Please stay strong! I try it too! But if you are well and not sick, than forget me. Greatings from Austria!!!
John Denver and Jim Croce are two of my most favorite singers and songwriters. Both have written some of my favorite music and both were taken too soon. They made this genre of country folk my favorite to listen to.
Years 've passed, but I and your very best of fans miss you every day. For your support and love for my Dad's music. You keep in touch with your warmth comments, we and the entire Denver Estate management says Thank you ❤❤❤💕💕💕😍😍🥰🥰
This song, this album was one I played many times before I was a father. The picture it conveys reminds how much I loved and still love my wife ( sadly divorced) and my very much grown daughter. The song just highlights how important the love families need and should show to one another.
Not only can you picture the scenes but you can even smell the coffee! "Sometimes this old farm feels like a long lost friend" Thanks John, because all of your songs are like old friends to me. A wave from London UK.💖
I know! I can just picture the scene, a little cabin, a sofa with a quilt hanging on the back, a fire in the stone fireplace, a pot of soup simmering on the stove.
Goose bumps and watery eyes everytime I listen to John. My late dad who passed in 2016 loved his voice. Why do our most talented singers leave us do soon? John had one of the purest and clearest singing voices ever heard and his songs are legendary.. He is sorely missed. RIP John. 😢
No one can match this man; his songs are melodious, meaningful and downright heart touching! I 1st time I saw him in concert, WDC, as a young Marine officer, away from my home in Montana for the first time...can still close my eyes and see it all, circa 1974. GOD bless you John, your still my favorite!

@@mtsky-tc6uw no, that is NOT what I was saying. Witnesses heard a boom, and then the plane spiraled downward. He was murdered, in my opinion, because he was a champion of the environment.
One day in 1997 i was walking to work south of Market St. in San Francisco (SOMA) in the morning, turned a corner, took a glance at a bank of newspaper boxes to my left, and saw the headlines "John Denver Dead." I've never known the death of a celebrity that truly saddened me to this very writing as the death of John Denver. My spirit was regenerated in 1972, when i became a born again Christian, when 'Rocky Mountain High was released.
I'm 52. Been listening to John Denver since I was little. This takes me back to the good old days. Playing outside all day, going home when the street lights came on, fireflies and all my childhood secrets 🖤
Never a trucker; just raised in a rural town out on the prairie. The imagery of a storm rolling in, a hot summer afternoon, the sounds that come from a highway, a railroad miles away; it's the little things that evoke memories of a childhood. The lapping wave of nostalgia is a pleasure; it's good to be reminded like a long-lost friend...
The clarity of voice. No straining. Smooth and slow. Refreshing to listen to a singer who can actually sing. Nothing against current 'artists' but...., how many can carry a tune with just a guitar? Not many. Enjoy!!
Snow storm moving in an finally after all these years i get to just stay home on the farm an enjoy it!! Sometimes this old farm feels like a long lost friend! Perfect
As a 20yr veteran trucker, this song brings back great memories! I silently cry when I hear this song. I want to go back home. Can anybody bring back the old times please?
My father and I didnt get alot of alone time. One time driving back from Tennessee to Michigan, we were alone. We just played this tape over and over. It was raining but not hard. I remember the smell of it and us singing along.
John Denver, his sweet, gentle, nonjudgmental kindhearted nature and his beautiful music always reminds me to enjoy the wonderful people I love in my life, and that no day should be taken for granted! Bless and Rest In Paradise good friend !

Love how he paints a picture with his words. It is so visual.
Very well said ! He truly did paint a picture with his words !
Couldn’t have said it better myself. Brings a tear to my eye from its beauty.
@@richardmineau6755 And he told a story. Very talented man, dearly missed
Me robaste el comentario!
I've always thought the same thing. Each of his songs us like a little trip.
As a 20yr veteran trucker, this song brings back great memories!
Jack Glick 23 and medically retired, couldn't agree with you more,Brother!
Over 25 years & over 2 million safe driving miles logged.
I love this song...i would almost cry when I heard it while I was on the road gone for 2-3 weeks at a time...
I'M NOT ASHAMED TO ADMIT IT EITHER.
Colin Waters. Me too Jack God bless him.

Breaker 1-9
There's a storm across the valley, clouds are rollin' in
The afternoon is heavy on your shoulders
There's a truck out on the four lane, a mile or more away
The whinin' of his wheels just makes it colder
He's an hour away from ridin' on your prayers up in the sky
Ten days on the road are barely gone
There's a fire softly burning, supper's on the stove
It's the light in your eyes that makes him warm
Hey, it's good to be back home again
Sometimes this old farm feels like a long lost friend
Yes, and hey, it's good to be back home again
There's all the news to tell him, how'd you spend your time?
What's the latest thing the neighbors say
And your mother called last Friday, sunshine made her cry
You felt the baby move just yesterday
Hey, it's good to be back home again, yes it is
Sometimes this old farm feels like a long lost friend
Yes, and hey, it's good to be back home again
Oh, the time that I can lay this tired old body down
Feel your fingers feather soft on me
The kisses that I live for, the love that lights my way
The happiness that livin' with you brings me
It's the sweetest thing I know of, just spending time with you
It's the little things that make a house a home
Like a fire softly burning and supper on the stove
The light in your eyes that makes me warm
Hey, it's good to be back home again
Sometimes this old farm feels like a long lost friend
Yes, and hey, it's good to be back home again
Hey, it's good to be back home again, you know it is
Sometimes this old farm feels like a long lost friend
Hey, it's good to be back home again
I said, hey, it's good to be back home again
My sister died in January of 2005.
She was just 43 yrs old.
She told me once that this song always made her think of Thanksgiving.
And so ever since she died i play this song every Thanksgiving. There hasnt been one Thanksgiving that i havent cried while listening to this song. No matter how much time passes by i still miss her and love her so much.
I pray that God will dry your tears......
@clydequinn4395
They will be dried when God calls me home
True story. My wife and I were driving from Virginia to Denver. Had XM Radio on. As we crossed Kansas into Colorado, "Rocky Mountain High" came on! I just KNEW that John Denver was welcoming us.
I live in Yorktown, Virginia. Cool story!
As a trucker. this sure hits the spot Thanks !
I couldn't agree anymore with you if I wanted to...
I've been a truck driver for over 25 years now.
this is real music
Yep You are RIGHT. Country > EVRY OTHER MUSIC
i agree
Sampylonghead Today's country music I can live my life without. Like other forms of popular music, country music has fallen victim to MTV, and is just as sexualized as any other form of popular music.
shut up just appreciate the music, why do you have to discredit other types of music just to prove that the music you listen to is better? There is music that is made today that is also good but ur stuck in ur ways which is fine but don't say everything made today is crap because that is not true and I'm sure people that are older than you thought the same thing about the music you listened to when you were younger
spot on, Zach Voitek
I'm a 12 year old girl who goes to a sleep away camp every summer. His songs truly remind of that place, because it is my second home. I love it there and I love his music. My friends and I sing "Take Me Home Country Roads" every year at he closing camp fire.
Becky Saborio Well, little lady, you just put a smile on my face when I read your comment. "Take Me Home Country Roads" is one song that plays in my head when I'm riding my horse down the dirt roads where I grew up and still live. It's so great to know that younger people like yourself are listening to this music and appreciating it!
Becky Saborio
Enjoy those times as much and as long as you can. Unfortunately, they will be gone before you know it. But, you can still cherish the memories.
Becky Saborio ✌️😍😌👍💕❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
You young lady...have excellent taste in music...
It is impressive to hear a young lady talk about a song that is way older than you...
Randy Miller dank je wel voor het compliment,ik doe mijn best,en vereerd, dat meen ik dat je vindt dat ik een goede smaak heb voor mijn leeftijd, liefs marian❤️
My Dad who passed 11/11/2013. As any only child, his daughte,. this was our song! Thank you!🙏💙
Can anybody bring back the old times please?
No one
i'm trying my best
death will .
XTheOneX hopefully someone can
We need a army of fans of John Denver fans to bring him back
I grew up listening to John Denver with my mom. I really miss those times.
Back Home Again!❤
I grew up on this man's music. RIP Mr. Denver.
Hello how are you? So sorry for the infringe on your privacy. Beautiful song
Love this song. Always makes me wish for less loss, more love and a sense of home.
All that could be right in front of you.
The phrase in the second verse "You felt the baby move again" made a direct hit on my heartstrings... few lines in songs make me cry so.
First the song, and now the comments are making me cry… I’m 66 now, but when I was a teenager I liked this music, but it was too wholesome for me… Fast-forward 50 years and his music and lyrics are so soothing and beautiful that it’s very touching. It warms my heart every time I listen to it. 💖💖💖
Where has the heart and soul of our country gone to?
Finally John has a star on the Walk of Fame.
Soo Line, it should have been there when he was still alive.
I could listen to this song ALL day EVERY day. It’s that beautiful. ❤️
@jackie...your comment was like sunshine to my depressed life. I absolutely adore this song!
@@martinalinkedtowe7348 I love this song soo much too. If I understand "depressed life" right, than we have the same problem. Please stay strong! I try it too! But if you are well and not sick, than forget me. Greatings from Austria!!!
Hello! Listen to John Denver's song, "Matthew". Beautiful. You'll hear it in your head all day- in a good way!!
You keep in touch with your warmth comments, we and the entire Denver Estate management says Thank you ❤❤❤💕💕💕😍😍🥰🥰
Yes, 2 of my favorites also. Who couldn't love this and Jim's "BAD Bad, Leroy Brown!"
Jim's song "operater" gets me everytime.
ĴOÑDENVER
Jon 1ofthe finest
Thank the heavens for sharing John Denver with us 🕊 The world is a better place with his eternal music 🌈
The kisses that I live for and the love that lights my way? Beautiful.
Rest in peace John Denver you warm everyone's hearts and even after you Sad death you will bring joy for many more years to come
Devil_Wolf_Gaming yes youre right :)
This song, this album was one I played many times before I was a father. The picture it conveys reminds how much I loved and still love my wife ( sadly divorced) and my very much grown daughter. The song just highlights how important the love families need and should show to one another.
John Denver was musical genius
SOLOS lead me here......what a song....play it always after work driving home
Not only can you picture the scenes but you can even smell the coffee! "Sometimes this old farm feels like a long lost friend" Thanks John, because all of your songs are like old friends to me. A wave from London UK.💖
I know! I can just picture the scene, a little cabin, a sofa with a quilt hanging on the back, a fire in the stone fireplace, a pot of soup simmering on the stove.
well said
Goose bumps and watery eyes everytime I listen to John. My late dad who passed in 2016 loved his voice. Why do our most talented singers leave us do soon? John had one of the purest and clearest singing voices ever heard and his songs are legendary.. He is sorely missed. RIP John. 😢
Agree, and why do bad/evil people live so long?
No one can match this man; his songs are melodious, meaningful and downright heart touching! I
1st time I saw him in concert, WDC, as a young Marine officer, away from my home in Montana for the first time...can still close my eyes and see it all, circa 1974. GOD bless you John, your still my favorite!
Barry Manilow same style we love. Icons.
Except country roads, F country roads. Again, that was: F country roads
the world will never feel this way again
He was one of this country's finer song writers and fine human being! We'll never see the likes of a John Denver ever again...ever again!
he was manic depressive,bi polar--all these beautiful songs he wrote for his wife who he cheated on,was abusive to--major drug use, total alcoholic--3 dui's-death came early, set him free
There will only ever be one J. Denver....
don't think people know how much of a huge loss, losing John R.I.P mate
I cry every time I hear the sound John denver put in my life
Yes, a fighter for the environment. He paid for that with his life. That plane accident was no accident.
@@robynperdieu3434 your saying he killed himself? he forgot to turn on the fuel lever and when it ran out of fuel the lever was over his shoulder,he turn to twist it on and his knee hit the flight control stalling the plane and since he was flying low it smacked the water hard
John Denver music be soothing and calm. Listening to his songs are literally relaxing. Man is good. RIP legend!
I'm 52. Been listening to John Denver since I was little. This takes me back to the good old days. Playing outside all day, going home when the street lights came on, fireflies and all my childhood secrets 🖤
Hello how are you? So sorry for the infringe on your privacy. Beautiful song
No matter what kind of trouble I'm in or how angry😠 I get. John Denver's music💽 has a way to calm me down & forget all my troubles😀.
this would be a good comment without the emojis

I know what you mean
Emojis or not, I relate.
Ditto my friend
I can listen to John for hours and do nothing.
well besides relaxing amd being around loved ones enjoyimg each others company. which this song always makes me think of
No.Not nothing;the memories keep rolling.
Danny Smith Music is so similar to what I try to write, actually it's exact.
And I do listen to his music EVERY DAY....Love
Danny Smith. Yes, me too. It's so soothing. 2019 November
when you memories went back as young kids and spending your time with your family before their passed away.
From the Fall of 1974-which like John Denver-is gone but never forgotten...
This is my coming home for Thanksgiving song. It’s perfect in every way.
Great God! This guy's music will live forever.
Anyone else listen to this after coming home from their high stress job to a happy little dog who’s excited to see you?
Definitely me listening to this w my dog laying beside me
The clarity of voice. No straining. Smooth and slow. Refreshing to listen to a singer who can actually sing. Nothing against current 'artists' but...., how many can carry a tune with just a guitar? Not many. Enjoy!!
Dear pawpaw Waugh, miss & love you so very much. I know you're singing this with Jesus. I thank Jesus for giving me you. All my love always, Nuska
john denver left us too early
Scott Skarloken sadly 🙁
Yes he did
Unfortunately it was true :(
I hope I see him soon.

Denver sang from the heart.
Like an Amish window with the light of God shining through, directing me in right, wrong. 🤗👼💃
As a 20yr veteran trucker, this song brings back great memories!
I silently cry when I hear this song. I want to go back home.
Can anybody bring back the old times please?
This man just clicked with you. He was one of us. We miss you!
The line "Little things that make a house a home" makes this song one of my favorites.
john is the greatest country singer
This man is the best singer of the all time.
My father and I didnt get alot of alone time. One time driving back from Tennessee to Michigan, we were alone. We just played this tape over and over. It was raining but not hard. I remember the smell of it and us singing along.
It sounds like a special trip for both of you.
Sounds like a beautiful memory.
Wonderful. This was one of my dad's favorite songs.
JD's most famous song worldwide is Country Roads but this song, which has a similar sentiment, is my favorite of his.
John Denver, his sweet, gentle, nonjudgmental kindhearted nature and his beautiful music always reminds me to enjoy the wonderful people I love in my life, and that no day should be taken for granted! Bless and Rest In Paradise good friend !
