When I hear this song, I think of my grandparents and fresh air. Thank you, John Denver for the good things you gave to this world.
Listening to this with an 81 yr old woman from West Virginia. She has Alzheimer's and when this song played she lit up like never before. Thank you.

Ever heard of the "Polish Legion" or the 58th New York Infantry during the Civil War? It was comprised of mainly Polish people but it also had Germans, Scandinavians, Russians, French and Italians.
This song makes me feel a melancholy nostalgia over something that hasn’t even happened.
Just listen to this on a rainy day, I almost had a mental breakdown (in a good way) because of this.

This deserves to be one of four of West Virginia's official state theme songs. Legendary.
Believe me, West Virginians have this song ingrained in their DNA.
When I was in Army boot camp, 1978 at Ft. Knox Ky, a lot of my fellow trainees were from there. When I would first meet anybody from there and ask “where are you from?”, they would answer: “Almost Heaven---oh, I mean West Virginia!!”.👍

It’s funny that everyone from West Virginia doesn’t know this guys talking about west side of Virginia, the Shenandoah river isn’t in WV it’s in Virginia, I’m personally from WV and I be getting into arguments about it
@@lil.perkocet7102 The Shenandoah empties into the Potomac at Harpers Ferry West Virginia and can be crossed there. While it runs through Virginia it does in fact touch West Virginia as well. We can in fact interpret the song anyway we choose and be correct. I believe John Denver meant the State, not a region of a State. Song writers use poetic license not geographical accuracy. Believe what you want..

My family are from the hills of West Virginia. Some of the most beautiful country that probably exists. My 93 yr old Mother's funeral is tomorrow. This song will be played in her honor. The song is timeless. R.I.P. Mom ❤

My dad and I used to listen to this song all the time. He would drive me to school and play this song when we were actually driving through West Virginia he played this haha. Recently he contracted cancer and hasn’t been himself. This song reminds me of when he was healthy and happy. I will forever love this song.
Prayer of Healing, Blessings, and True Love- May God's True Love be with You, Always. Amen
I know prayers don't work, coz gods don't exist. I been through what you're experiencing man, my mom passed away 2019 bcoz the god that we prayed for isn't as omnipotent as what is written on those "holy books" said. But i really hope if there is a divine being, i hope it will heal your father.
