    Lyrics:
But the Colorado Rocky Mountain high
I’ve seen it rainin’ fire in the sky
The shadow from the starlight is softer than a lullabye
    Rocky Mountain high (in Colorado)
    Rocky Mountain high (in Colorado)

I got divorced at 27 and after several months of trying to figure my life out I took John's advice. I took a week off of work and hiked eight of Colorado's beautiful 14ers. I saw fire rain, I looked down on silver clouds below me, and I made a lot of awesome mountain friends. The man that I am today was born on that trip. My wife and kids are very grateful for the effect that this song had on me. Thank you Mr. Denver.

He sung at my brothers wedding in 1994 at a Ski Resort in Boulder Colorado (My brothers wife's family had money and connections) and he was a man unlike many. He spent the entire day with us and it's a day I will never forget. He sang for us off and on for almost 10 hours into the evening. He returned the next day to go skiing with the wedding party as well.

The only ones allowed into heaven are those who have confessed their sins to Jesus, asked Him to forgive them and for Him to save them and come into their lives. Put your faith in Jesus, He loves you. You must have a close relationship with Him to go to heaven, being a nice person isn't enough.

It's tough for kids today to understand what John Denver was to American culture in the 70s. The man was everywhere doing everything. Singing, songwriting, acting, producing, and he was pretty much universally loved, even by people who weren't fans of his kind of music.

My mother was buried yesterday and for some reason, this morning, this song came to mind out of the blue. There was no reason for it - it wasn't one of her favourites, she didn't particularly like or dislike John Denver, nor do I, but the song kept looping in my head and wouldn't leave me alone.
Listening to the song started the tears again. There's something about John Denver's pure voice and solitary guitar accompaniment that reminds me so much of my mother's character- how she loved family, nature, embraced her faith. She was my rock and I feel adrift right now

I remember when this song came out. It's a masterpiece the way it still touches my soul. My husband has passed, and many wonderful people we'd meet camping, driving for days down the coast, people were more friendly and down to earth. When I hear kids say it's 2023, I say I know, and I feel bad for you.

As a german-russian i have to say that i think citiziens get blamed too much for everything. There are a lot of people around the world that are very nice and some which are not. People tend to forget that and rather target an entire country. Ignoring the politics, I think the americans have created many great things from physical inventions to digital media.

John Denver's songs - particularly Rocky Mountain High and Country Roads - still bring tears to my eyes. I lived in Vail, CO for a number of years and these songs were ANTHEMS. Whenever one of these songs would come on, wherever it was being played, everyone within earshot, and I mean EVERYONE, would sing along. It was a different time back then, but it was not so long ago. Sometimes, they'd be played from a speaker at a shop, into the street. To be with people singing his music walking down the street, with such feeling..... incomparable. What happened to us?

i remember having lunch with my brother in the restaurant of The Beverly Hills Hotel in the early 1980's when I suddenly noticed John Denver and his family seated a few tables away. I was a huge fan, but didn't dare intrude on his privacy as they soon rose and made their way out of the restaurant, passing just by our table. He was much taller than I had expected, and he looked just like the photo on this music video. He seemed to notice us as he passed by and gave a slight smile. I wish I had said something to him to let him know just how much joy his music had brought to my life. Looking back, I'm just so glad I had the opportunity to see him that day. my wife and I have been married 41 years last March. the summer of '76 we went camping at Breck then went on up o Grand Lake and Rocky Mountain National Park. one of the people working at the park that summer put together a slide show and played this song along in time with it (this was way long years before power point presentations). those cold summer nights by a campfire up near the treeline still touch my soul and flood back when I hear this song. My friends and I made a trek across Colorado through the Rocky Mountains on our way to Utah in mid-September. It was our first time ever making this trek clear across Colorado, although I had been to Colorado Springs and Denver as a 15 year old. I am now 68. When we got into the mountains and they were completely surrounding us the feeling of complete elation was so strong that we hurried and got this song pulled up on my iPad and as we drove, taking in the majesty of the beauty that surrounded us, we sang this song at the top of our lungs with tears in our eyes! It’s a memory I will never forget and one that still makes my heart swell each time I think of it. John had the most wonderful way of expressing the most beautiful experiences in his life…and they resonate so much with us all. That is a true gift! I miss him so much! This song is embedded in my soul. Reminds me of fishing trips with Grandpa up to Bloomfield Vermont in the 90s. John Denver was his favorite musician. We use to own an abandoned airstrip with 50 beautiful acres right along the Connecticut River. A mile of the riverbank was all ours. It's crazy because that far up the Connecticut River, it's so narrow you could throw a rock across it. Where we actually live in Massachusetts, it's 2,100 feet wide. Some of the best fishing you could ever experience is on that land. It is a legendary brown trout hotspot. I learned to drive a car as an 8-year-old there. I rode a dirt bike for the first time there. We used to swim in the freezing cold water and get leeches stuck to our ankles lol. Wish we still owned it. Miss you Grandpa!

Took me a long time to really understand this song...so beautiful. I used to hike up on Signal Mountain in Tennessee, on the Appalachian Trail...not the Rockies, but it sure was peaceful. I would go by myself and just get lost in nature for a few hours. Nothing beats dangling your feet off a 1,000 cliff and there's nobody disturbing you...just the mountains...the trees...waterfalls...all natural beauty that could never be replaced with special fx or cgi...I remember watching hawks and falcons floating on thermals up there...totally free. My health will probably never let me experience that again, but I am so happy I got to see those beautiful wonders when I was a healthy young man. I doubt I will be around much longer so I've made arrangements to have my ashes spread from the top of Signal Mountain where I spent so much time as a young man. Every time I hear this song it takes me back there...🌲🌳⛅🌳❤

I grew up in Alaska in the 1960's. Pristine. I hiked and slept in the woods all I possibly could as a child. You have to experience it to fully understand. Its not anything you can experience in a man-made park or attraction. I think God screams at you... I am here. It is beautiful. It is intense. It is bigger than us.

I was born at the right time. Music was great and I experienced every generation. Now I'm old and things get sad. My body aches and life lost it's magic. I listen to the music I love so much. My mind drifts to times .I was young and enjoyed living. And I give myself a hugs and a sigh. Feel sad for those that missed the greatest times.

I listened to this song for so many years, and used to dream of seeing the Rockies. I would always play this song on the jukebox at the bar and everyone would laugh. During the pandemic I jumped in my car and went to Colorado and saw what John Denver was always talking about. Changed my life forever, if you get the chance you got to see the Rockies. I would recommend Boulder and Estes Park

Rocky Mountain High is my favorite John Denver song, and to me, that is the true & real state song of the State of Colorado. I have family in the Denver-Boulder area from my late mother's side of my family. My maternal grandparents spent their final years in the state of Colorado, so did 2 of my uncles & 2 of my aunts. One of my uncles served in the Air Force and John Denver's father was his division officer and later was his supervisor at Stanley Aviation which is now Beechcraft.

At 27 I got busted dealing drugs, i know, stupid. After dealing with all that i took off to see my grandparents who lived in Ft Collins Colorado. I usually took I80 through Wyoming then dropped into Collins but this time i went through I70 for the first time, WOW! This song touches me as its such an accurate reflection of my life, a new beginning and in a place that i feel at home. I now ride these mountains a few times a year on 2 wheels taking in the sights and smells and I always seem to see new beauty in those mountains and relive "coming home" each time. Thanks John for the music, may you RIP.
