- In this video will learn How to prepare soil for leaf propagation
Propagation can be fun if done right. In this video tutorial I will explain how to prep soil for propagation as soil being the most important part.
Things to remember while making the mix
Soil must be well draining, should be lose and porous.
Soil must not get sticky or heavy and must not get compact after drying.
We use cocopeat as an ingredient as it retains moisture and can help the new fragile roots grow with drying off.

Real good tips till now on the internet !! Definitely a very good tip ! Thank you very much !!!! Just one question....is it ok to put the tip of the leaf in soil ? Or it has to be just placed on the soil ???????¿?
Hi thank for watching 😊
Just place it on the soil but what u can do is gently push the tip closer to the soil but not completely into..don’t worry the roots once they show up they will automatically dig themselves in.
Even if they don’t u can just sprinkle some soil on the roots that will do the trick.
now the reason why it’s not a good idea to push the tip into the soil .First u won’t be able to see when the roots appear because you will only start watering once’s the roots are visible
secondly as they are very fragile it may ( just assuming ) it may make it difficult for the new pups to push through the soil.
@@LushGardener thank you very very much 🙏

Hello, im from Bangalore and i love to grow succulent and have few succulents. I would love to visit your place sometime to see the succulents. Please let me know where to stay
Hi sir would have loved to invite... unfortunately i had several bad experiences ..so i stopped ..hope you understand :)
Sir I am from Chandigarh , my succulent melt in summer tell you how to make soil mixer in our climate and where are you from
sir m from Bangalore…
sir you have to make an indoor setup with grow lights for summer ….otherwise none of the succulents will survive no matter how much good care you give they will still melt in summer …winter is ok but not summer
Leaf propagation ke kitne din baad water dena hai ?
Can you show the area where you fetch your soil from?
I will once I find ….currently I have collected In a drum so m good for few months ….
Incase I don’t get it I go to my local plant nursery and I ask them to fill a sack in front of me as they usually add cow dung…so I tell them specifically only regular soil nothing added
It’s usually when they dig the ground this fresh soil is removed from beneath so i just take it
I really appreciate your videos. You use coco peat. I am trying to search for it, however all of them say coco coir. I read that it's not the same thing. I'm having a hard time finding just coco peat. Is there a brand or something. Please help. Thank you. Also what potting soil do you use
yes cocopeat is different from coco coir ....coco peat is made from coconut husk basically coconut husk is made into powder ...i wish i could give you the brand but we are in totally different country so it won't be available :(
potting mix for adult succulent ?
i make a mix at home with 80 percent aquarium sand and filtered garden soil

ok i was just checking in amazon looks like its available.... but please do check the reviews before purchasing
if you don't get cocopeat you can use any potting soil for leaf propagation no issue
@@LushGardener what product is it on Amazon
Sir mere leaves hmesha hi sukh jata ...I live in up...can you suggest something
Oh sir keep in indirect light ...don't keep in direct sun ....remove leaves properly ....next time share the pic of leaves on my instagram
Can I use coco coir instead of coco peat? Thnx
cocopeat will be much better ...coco coir is ok but the issue is it has lot of coir strands ....and usually coco coir doesn't get moist evenly apart from that it initially repels water until its completely wet and then starts to absorb water ...so cocopeat will be a better choice any day :)
Hi!
This is my first time getting into propagation. I have vermicompost and coco peat mix. Can i use that for propagating? Along with some perlite
avoid vermicompost just cocopeat and regular soil …I will share the entire process step by step in playlist form do check and let me know if you have any doubts 😊🪴

@@LushGardener ok alright! It's a mix pack tho, what a waste =.=" and thank u so much. Looking forward to your videos
don’t worry if you have other foliage plants this will work very well for them ..don’t discard it 😊🪴
@@LushGardener yes ok!! 😆
Hi LG .. What's the big one in the middle @ 7.50 min mark ? I have 5 such leaves ...
that's moonstone :)
@@LushGardener all these looks very similar but how to distinguish : pachyphytum oviferum
graptopetalum amethystinum
pachyphytum bracteosum
haha yes very confusing but unless they are not next to each other very difficult to identify..
moonstone will have more round flat pebble shape …the reason it’s called moonstone coz they look like pebbles from the moon greyish blue ..
graptopetalum amethystinsum are called as lavender pebbles they are more pink in colour often called as pink moonstone but there is no pink moonstone as such …
last one also looks similar to moonstones but they have more longer leaf structure then moonstone
@@LushGardener yeah.. but yours looks more like bracteosum than oviferum
