He reminds me of Kierkegaard when he preaches seriously. He is unique when he gets funny. He reminds me of Jesus' love when he sings and that's why I'm most in love with his outstanding music, ever since I happened to know he existed and exists. Mullins was a philosopher, a poet and a worshipper in spirit and in truth, all in one.

One of his most heartfelt deliveries at a concert was when he sang, This World is not my Home, it's an old hymn (he loved the old hymns, esp Fanny Crosby). It was apparent that Rich longed for God and to be in His presence (heaven). Also, listen to, Home, a song on the Winds of Heaven, Stuff of Earth cd. You can find also on you tube. Can't wait to meet him in heaven. He was a beautiful poet who had the guts to express it for all of us to partake. Miss him badly. No one comes close to filling the void.

Thank you for sharing this and many other Mullins clips of him telling stories, spiritual lessons. We need next and future generations more emboldened with God's love & mission over fear & lesser pursuits, filled with and walking in the Holy Spirit's power. As Isaiah 11:2-3a refers to, that daily God would fill us with the Spirit of the Lord, a Spirit of wisdom and understanding, a Spirit of counsel and strength, a Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord, delighting in holy respect over worldly respect, loving one another and considering others as more important than ourselves. I'm not there but that grace-driven potential is amazing.

When he asks, "what does it mean to follow Christ...I am not sure what that really means..."
I knew what he was saying & what religion has taken away from us. And that is:
following His Torah/Instructions written in the first 5 books. Because Jesus/Yshua is the Word made flesh.
That means that He is those 5 books of Moses that He spoke & then became.
He showed us how to walk these words out when He said, come to me all you who are weak & heavy laden & I, will give you rest.
Take my yoke upon me & learn from me for I am meek & you will find rest for your souls.
He was quoting Jeremiah 6:16 that states
    Thus says Adoni (my Lord):
“Stand in the roads and look.
    Ask for the ancient paths-
where the good way is-and walk in it. Then you will find rest for your souls.
His yoke is the Torah & it is light, for it teaches you a way contrary to the world, to religion, to systems.
For if you allow Him, He promised His Spirit to guide you to all truth, & by His Spirit to write that Torah on your heart & on your mind.
Rich Mullins was too big for this earth.
Rest in the arms of our Master, Yshua
    Shalom/Peace

I don't know why He let me find it... (it only took me 8 years).
I spent upwards of 10+ hours a day, studying the Bible, studying physics, studying Hebrew...looking for the answer to the ONE question I had my whole life, but no one would give me a straight answer. And I found it.
Short answer, almost no believes me, but I found it. It's two things...but it's the way to CONNECT with God FOR REAL. These two things....1) pray in Tongues and 2) always tell the truth. This has been my life long quest. How to REALLY find Him. How to really connect with Christ. It's not instantaneous, and great hardship & persecution always come after, so that's why almost no one will not keep it up...but it is THE ANSWER. And remember, I do not lie. I found Him. I found Him...for real....really real.
"Worship Him in Spirit (Tongues) & Truth."
He's the love I've found...and He's been DOUBLY GOOD to me.

Ah, okay. He was talking about the song "What Susan Said" at the beginning of the clip. Interesting to hear the story behind that song after so many years.
The lyrics he mentions have stayed with me quite well over the years. "If home is just another place where you're a stranger, and far away is just some place you've never been, I hope that you can remember I was your friend."
He references Calling Out Your Name with the "Shakes us forward and shakes us free" comment.
Sometimes I really wish I could go back in time and see one of his concerts after I learned his songs. The only bad thing about it, I don't think he ever performed my favorite one by him. Somewhere, for those who are curious.

I know it's wrong to be jealous, but I confess I am, not just that Rich had cool things to say, but more that Rich willingly allowed God to use him as the clay pot the scriptures talk about with all the cracks and imperfections and wanting God so badly to shine His light through all those holes. Yes
Ya know I’ve been listening to some famous reformed Calvinists …I thought it was a good thing. Solid doctrine and sound teaching. Sure. Just one problem. I found no love there . Not with them and not in their words. A lot of talk on hell and a lot of talk about sin. Sure we need to hear that. But good grief…. Is that all?

    • @Hephzibahh
      @Hephzibahh Год назад +1

Because if you truly love someone you will tell them the truth in kindness , God is serious about sin and He sent His Jesus to pay an awful price for it, that's how horrendous our sin is, so yes it's of utmost importance to tell people hell is real Jesus spent time warning us not to go there, please dont take it lightly people ...your friends or acquaintances could die tomorrow, dont be ashamed of the gospel of Christ it is the power of God unto salvation. Jesus said "repent"

For sure. 1 Corinthians 13 covers that thoroughly. The person who replied first to you is correct, but the totality of Christian love isn’t ONLY about warning people about hell. That wasn’t Jesus message 100% of the time.
It’s not always about having our doctrinal t’s crossed and i’s dotted. We’re not called to be Reformed Calvinists, we’re called to walk with Christ…step by step, one day at a time, and walk in His love so that others may see, and to share our knowledge of the Word. Thus, He will use us naturally and organically in the lives of others to draw them to Himself.
