I love Dave Mullins! What a joy it must be to hear him preach every Sunday. We are doubly blessed to have been gifted with the lives and ministries of two such special men, who happened to be brothers.

Thanks for posting this. I completely would have gone to Rich's memorial service 20 years later. His songs were so real and so raw that they resonated for me in a way no other artist's have. Plus I just shared a lot in common with Rich that ended up in his songs: Native America, Appalachia, and the Great Plains. The fury in the pheasant's wings, the color green of winter wheat. The thundering of buffalo herds. The whole universe being still over Kansas. The Keeper of the Plains (a towering Native American statue which sits at the confluence of the Arkansas and Little Arkansas Rivers in Wichita), the howling wind, the creatures that rattle, and patter, and purr...Only person I knew who could incorporate everything from bagpipes to hammered dulcimer into his music and give everything such a distinctive sound while incorporating it so well it just fit.

Exactly a rendition of Christ I enjoyed him saying, I will apply it to another facet of the church experience: I don’t ever want to join others in “worshipping our Savior” but clap and cheer for the person leading us in the songs that ‘should’ bring adoration and praise to our Lord, Redeemer, and the Great Holy Spirit.❤

Hi there, I loved this video. Thank you for sharing. I've never heard David Mullins speak. The resemblence between his voice and Rich's voice is uncanny. Powerful message.

I've never heard a message like this....
"man I wanna be mistaken for Him...."
    WoW! What a great message...
    Be present.
    Be REAL!
    Be authentic...

17:37 "We want to be recognized for doing it well." We want the glory. That's the place where God keeps inviting us to greater humility. And also why God chooses the weakest vessels... (a) because it becomes obvious the grace of God is the one accomplishing everything... and (b) because in order to be united to the strength of God, we must surrender... which is to allow ourselves to be made weak. Nice tribute David. Thanks for sharing Michael.

Please forgive me Lord if I am wrong in saying tjis, but many of the songs Rich wrote remind me of the Psalms of David. Praising God, learning thru his trials, wondering where his Holy Father was at times and talking to Him about it...much was and continues to be still here by the impact many of us were left by this man and his prayers. I praise God for using the people He graces us with to touch our lives.

Wow, yes Sir you are like your brother a down to earth, real person who loves Jesus. I always thought of Rich as a humble man who never took life for granted and loved to be around people even though I never met him. His life was a testimony of God's work and blessed him beyond all measure. Being present is what my real dad could never do. He is from Indiana as well. Thank you for sharing this. 📖🙏

I still find it hard to accept Rich's passing, especially the tragic way it happened. I never met him, only became acquainted with his music through Z Music in late 1995 and I somehow miss him and grieve for his loss, he left us too soon, but I'm grateful that his songs and authenticity touched my soul and are still here to bless us.

He was ready to go when it was time. He called it 10 years earlier, said that he was going to die early like Keith Green. His self titled album had a song that spelled it out. Elijah.

I put the lyrics from Go out like Elijah.... But... I will most definitely say....
It can be incredibly harder, and most difficult, to follow in "famous" foot steps..."
And I, for one, and immensely glad that his brother knows Jesus as his Lord and Saviour, and that he's willing to preach about it...
Praise Jesus! Believers will get to see them both someday in eternity.... I know I'm looking forward to seeing my believing relatives in heaven!

    "There's people been talking
They say they're worried about my soul
Well, I'm here to tell you I'll keep rocking
'Til I'm sure it's my time to roll
    And when I do
When I leave I want to go out like Elijah
With a whirlwind to fuel my chariot of fire
And when I look back on the stars
It'll be like a candlelight in Central Park
And it won't break my heart to say goodbye"

This is all I could think about when Rich died in the accident and I felt deep sadness because the way Rich died was not glorious like Elijah. It was horrific and I was equally in deep mourning over him while at the same time quite angry with him for not wearing a seatbelt. Loved Rich because of his authenticity both in person and in his music, some of which the Christian stations found too authentic to want to air. I still listen to his music and his life and example still impact me deeply. But I also appreciate David's message about being present for people and being mistaken for Jesus.

      @@susanhenderson3369 Then, simply trust God’s Providence sister…
We’re all going to be released from this shell at some point…
Why you might say It “wasn’t as glorious” well. Frankly. Who has been?
I certainly don’t discount RM death as some kind of bad thing.
Embrace providence, know you’re not guaranteed your next breath, and live accordingly… Rich would have done the same!

@@susanhenderson3369 Well I don't know but I assume it was a very quick death. I don't know if he died instantly from being thrown out of his Jeep but I assume being ran over by a semi was instant.
This is not a pleasant thing to think about but my point is he didn't contract some illness that caused years of suffering before death. He was here one minute and with God the next and very likely without ever knowing what happened.
From our perspective it was not a glorious way to go. But I am sure Rich would have preferred that to many years battling cancer or some neuromuscular disease. In that sense he went out like Elijah.
I remember that day in 97 very well. I remember the DJ on my local Christian station saying it was sad day and that we lost Rich. I stood frozen for a moment. I just could not believe he was gone.
Over the years I have come to appreciate his music more and more. He was an amazing song writer and very unique musician. I don't think there has even been or ever will be another one like him.
If you listen to his disks you quickly realize some of the best songs are ones that never played on any radio. It's ashamed that most people associate him with Awesome God. Although not a bad song, I doubt it would be in my top ten Rich songs. There are way too many great ones for me to attempt to name them. My favorite albums are both of The World As Best As I Remember Its and Never Picture Perfect. Those touched me the most. But he had good ones before and after those.

At the end of my life I wanna be remembered by the life I lived. That they saw Jesus! I know I have faults but knowing that Jesus is our light that even a spark would make them think about the life they are living!

Brother Dave! Great to see you here!
Love to you and your family. Grieved for the losses we are all enduring. Hideous. Gut-wrenching. Excruciating.
Come Lord Jesus or keep us sane somehow.
    I can't bear it. I know that.
    "Hard To Get" right?
"Who God is Gonna Use" Brilliant!
    -"maybe even you or me"
Sucks to be here without Rich and the almost fullness of the deity that lived in him LOL!
    BOY WAS GIFTED!!!
    Impacted S O U L S man!
    Deeeeeply!
    For the Kingdom!
    Brother had some heavy-duty BACK-UP!
Sucks to be left down here below separated from the realm
    where our loved ones go.
    And why do they die
and not rise on day three?
    To be more like Jesus
    sounded great to me.
    Did they enter eternity instantly?
    where mortality meets immortality
Are they clothed with a heavenly body?
    Could be good.
    Could work for me.
I hope that they're all now just one loving family
    ...waiting for me
