I love this! thanks for sharing this. I love to hear Rich speak just as much as to hear him sing.

It's easy to think these words are "pretty ahead of their time", considering the mindset of conservative Christianity in the mid 90s, but I think that Rich would have also steered clear of the term "progressive Christian", if I understand how he looked at faith, because his interest was not in movements or appeasement, but on the personage and message of Christ. "Progressive" or "moderate" faith is as subject to trend as anything else, and I do believe that his natural desire was to remain focused on the timeless truth found in Christ. I'm not suggesting that Richhad a perfect faith, or was a faultless fellow, but in an industry where music is driven by entertainment value, achieving an honest and candid message that brought as many gasps as it did cheers was not to bring an audience closer together, or to sell tshirts and cds, but to bring needy people closer to an understanding of what Rich saw in Christ. By witnessing God's love in this manner, there is a distinct reminder of how revolutionary Jesus' mindset was when he walked on this earth. How people must have marveled at eternal truth that didn't need a microphone, that didn't need a chorus, that didn't need a label.

Those who are trashing Rich have fallen further into sin because we are not Judge( Matthew 7:1-2 ) others; and many Christian's brought up in Legalistic churches apparently don't realize that our Lord Jesus hates Self Righteousness and also says in Psalm 51 that the "acceptable sacrifice to the Lord is a Broken Spirit and a contrite heart"; not being good to win favor with God- But "being good" that follows the Lord Christ lavishing His Grace on us as Paul unpacks in Ephesians.
Also; the point of Rich's rant is how to share the Good News of the Gospel to others and that God's Grace is a heart issue- Not a cognitive or mind issue. Just read the explication of Paul in Chapter 7 of Romans regarding his wanting to be good but how his sin nature continued to do what he did not desire.
We will never be able to understand the unlimited Grace of our God- until we are in His Presence! So let us Judge each other less and. Unconditionally Love like Jesus did.
As Rich said We are not saved because we are good - but "good" because we are saved.
Please be aware that You might be the only Bible a person every reads. ARE YOU LEGIBLE???

While I understand that the subject matter of some videos may lead to disagreement or debate, we're asking that everyone please keep all conversations civil. Any comments with insulting language will be removed. Thank you.

Thank you.... Unfortunately, some comments are taken as insulting when they are only conveying the truth that some do not want to hear or acknowledge; and for that reason, they are removed with no insults given. That is quite a pity...

All comments that were part of one particular conversation were removed because we felt that once insults and swear words started being used, it no longer reflected the spirit of this channel. People are welcome to share their differing views but once again, we ask that all discourse remain civil.

Ragamuffin Archive Yes, thank you very much! I did understand that in the beginning and knew that my comments were not removed due to swear words and insults, but because they were part of the conversation. I noticed that my other comments that were outside of that particular conversation were not removed. I think I just got defensive after I saw your first post and thought perhaps I was being included in the "insults" group. Sorry about that. God bless.

Even without swearing or insults, there's still some comments here that are not in the spirit of this channel or Rich - Perhaps removing/closing all comments here, can protect those of us, who came to hear Rich, and not The PUBLIC's biblical debates and unsolicited opinions on faith and the bible. Thanks Ragamuffin for taking the time for monitoring. We really appreciate it.

I have always loved rich mullins music and the ragamuffin message...and i agree with what he is saying. yet he needed to say something that the bible teaches. His message here is actually incomplete...God's grace is free and amazing and we do not deserve His kindness...yet we have it...but his kindness leads to repentance and a changed life. Rich Mullins should have talked about repentance . Romans 2:4- "God’s kindness is intended to lead you to repentance"
