Ari has an incessant drive to reach the top and just when he thought he was out, he gets pulled back in. He’s already richer than most of could ever dream of becoming but until he’s at the very top, he won’t be satisfied.

@@johanflod Yeah, I think that’s the curse for people like him. They always want more, can never be satisfied. He would probably find at the top that it’s not nearly as exciting or fulfilling as he hoped it would be.

@@Garrus1995 I don’t think it’s so much about satisfaction as it is about doing. Relaxation is fine, but it can get boring after a while. Next thing you know you’re in a retirement home sitting around doing nothing. It’s the difference between being a cow doing nothing but standing around eating grass vs being a living human being with drive and purpose.

People don’t realize this show was about Ari and E. Not Vince…..they show that here by ending with Ari making it. The journey of E and Ari were amazing and the intended spotlight of the show. Not Vince.

Put yourself in Ari’s shoes; there’s NO WAY he could turn that offer down. Think about it, he is WAY too young to retire and highly driven people like him cannot stay still. Ari Gold is not someone who will be happy hanging around some glitzy golf course with a bunch of rich, old, retirees. He’d get bored of everything else there is in that location too; fishing, boating, going to the museum, shopping, all would bore him out of his mind within six weeks.
In that position, he IS the boss, he calls ALL the shots, NO ONE is above him, and he would literally have no one to fear and everyone would be beneath him. He can manage the company his way and point that company in any direction he wants.
Btw, His wife would get bored there too.
It’s a shame what happened to Jeremy Piven. I can think of no one who ever played a role nearly as well as he played Ari Gold.

Whatever happened to the brilliant creator and writer, Doug Ellin? Yes, everything you see and and hear is because of his genius - writing the dialogue, characters and story. He hasn't participated in film/television/cable/streaming production in years - last word on the street is he divorced and sold his house - but no street creds after Entourage. That's nearly a decade of nothing from him. Hopefully his "new" show will see the light of day - one day - and be as good as Entourage (unlikely, but let's hope), titled "Wish" - HBO was going to commit to production 6 years ago, but nothing ever happened of it... .

I still don't get why the owner of an entertainment empire would want to just pass ownership to an outsider for virtually nothing.
He's reached the pinnacle of success. He's old, he can't work forever. He wants to make sure the empire continues to thrive by leaving it in the very capable hands of Ari Gold.
Keep in mind also that its mentioned that John is essentially the owner or at leaat the majority shareholder of Boeing/Raytheon in this series. And that the film and tv division which made 3 billion as he mentions to Ari. Only made up 2% of their overall conglomerates revenues per year. John was only stepping down as the CEO from the film/tv division or company, and offering that position to Ari. Since Ari was the top of his field in entertainment and most capable of continuing to be a success in that industry.

They sent a crew to Italy to film a two-minute scene? Spare no expense. Another trait of this quality show.

I don't know if there were plans for a season 9 but I highly doubt it since they were running out of ideas to do. However, they did make a movie in 2015 that was far better than the series finale of the show, once the guys behind it figured out how they wanted to end things

The movie messed up the finale. I mean the finale wasnt the best but the movie still ruined it, I like leaving everyones future & relationships up for interpretation, did Vince's marriage last? Did Drama find major success in acting? Did E stay with Sloan in New York? and to me most importantly, did Ari stay with his wife/kids in his new found growth as a human being or did he revert back to old Ari Gold who would jump at the chance for success, up to interpretation was the best but the movie ruined it by making something definitive. Thats why i choose to leave the movie out of my rewatches
