I saw him in 81 at the Nassau Coliseum. The album could not have been out for more than two weeks. He played the first few chords of this song and the entire crowd started singing. Bruce just sat down on the edge of the stage and let us sing the first verse. It was freaking awesome.
Yea I have that live track
My father loved this song. He passed away in June last year. Today I was working on his house fixing it up for the first time since his passing. While playing music on my aux cord my car randomly switched to the radio station which has never happened before and the aux cord did not disconnect. I believe this was him giving me a sign to listen to this song and know that he’s there and proud of what I’m doing for my family.
Sorry for your loss, honey 🍯
Hugs
that was definitely a sign quincy. when weird stuff happens like that after a death and especially with something electronic or a wire of some kind sign is in front of your soul. you just got to put 2 and 2 together. I say this because I hear to many of stories that can't be explained like yours and always a year or less after a passing. get that house project done sir and thanks for posting your story
I love your story.. ❤️.
I'm a father too......and got four daughters..
This song is LEGENDARY.
i am now convinced that we were living in THE TWILIGHT ZONE during the 80's thats why it was so special with the music
My husband died in July last year, far too early, we loved signing this song together, especially when we drove into Baltimore and this came on the radio. Sadness and joy with this song.
Sorry for your loss.
🥲🥲
Love you sorry what happened. He in better. Place n one day you be with him sing. Together. God bless. N take care.❤❤❤❤❤❤😊😊😊😊😊
He is near you even if you can't see him
My daughters favourite Bruce Springsteen song. She was 11 years old and we played it at her funeral. Taken from us far too soon. We love you Angel, keep singing and dancing in heaven xxx
My condolences. She is in a much better place now.
@@NitishSinghchin2 Thank you, I just wish she was here with me. It’s very hard to believe she is in a better place if we don’t know where she is? I’m not a religious person, but I do believe our soul goes somewhere else. Xx
It's an unimaginable loss. But, as my mother always says - Time is the best healer. Stay strong. Stay positive. Better times are yet to come.
@@NitishSinghchin2 it’s very hard to see there will ever be better times ahead, maybe easier but never better than when my daughter was alive. She was also my best friend and we did everything together
Sorry that you lost your daughter. Glad that you could play that song for her and that you had a relationship with her that you knew that...
"Like a river that don't know where it's flowing. I took a wrong turn and I just kept going" - This may well be my favourite lyric from any song ever and I can relate to it so deeply.

Best song ever by Bruce❤️
Now that I’m older this song really hits home.
The first time that I saw Bruce in concert, he started Hungry Heart and the crowd sang the entire song and Bruce let it happen just strumming his guitar!
I remember when my Mom bought the album in a department store. I was 8 years old. Those days are long gone but I'll always cherish the memorable times.
Released 1980
I bought it in a department store too 😎 39 years ago . your mom has great taste in music . LOL

This song took on a different meaning to me when I was 46.
this song is so good that it doesnt have a "most replayed" spot. meaning everyone who is listening to this listens to the entire song! Great song and Love to everyone.
Multiple replays too.
@Oswaldo Zuniga Actually, I ALWAYS replay that first drum riff and instruments rolling in, and then Bruce's "Yah!!" a few times over every time i listen. It's the perfect open. You can see the spike at the very start.
His best vocal performance
Same. That riff just comes in like an avalanche, closely followed by Bruce's "Yeah". Best opener to a song ever.
Una y otra vez... 😂
I saw him perform this in 1985 at the Orange Bowl in Miami, Fl. 145,000 in attendance. He just stood there and let the crowd sing the first verse, it was magical.
I was there too

This song is freakin' PERFECT! The music still lives....
Richard Hungry Heart is Bruce's best vocal performance
Fun fact: This song was originally written to be recorded by the Ramones, but Bruce was advised to keep the song to himself.
Now imagine what this song would've sounded like if the Ramones DID record it!

Over the years, I've only liked a few or more of his songs, this being my favorite. Over thirty years ago, as a teenage boy, living in my mama and daddy's basement, this song forever struck a chord in my heart. Mainly, because of the first few opening lines, along with the beautiful music. This song has forever been a treasure piece in my heart and mind.
Since I heard this song from Warm Bodies, it became one of my favourite feel good songs. ❤️

I don't think that it was meant to be a feel-good song. If you listen to the words, the guy in the song is a very unhappy, lonely and desperate person who lives with the shame and pain of having abandoned his wife and kids; and yet wont go back home to reconcile with them, and instead goes to bars to drink and meet women for yet more empty short term relationships as a way of escaping his feeling guilty.
oh this is such a feel good song

some years ago I took my non-rocker best friend to a Springsteen concert. She always knew me as a quiet sort, maybe not giving up much. The band hit the opening riff to Hungry Heart and I jumped up and started dancing. She was dumbfounded. Some people in the upper tiers unfurled a banner that said something like "Lesbians love Bruce." He shouted back "I love you, too!. " I'm a straight woman, but this song struck a chord in so many people. There is something that hits all of us in our true selves.
Bruce Springsteen is so good at that song Hungry Heart.

This was supposed to be a Ramones song. Dig it
A song about a deadbeat who leaves his wife and kids on a whim. Yet soo catchy.
The beauty of Springsteen's songbook, as a whole, is it seems to encompass virtually every facet of the human condition. Like it or not, a deadbeat abandoning his wife and children because he met a girl in a Kingstown bar is part of the human condition, as awful as it is.
@Chris Kozak anyman who voluntarily walks out on his kids is a deadbeat the guys actions are described. He doesn't have to call him one.

I am retired military. I have 3 wonderful children who love me and now live with me (well 2, 1just graduated from OCS) IVE SORTA lived this song. Never seen the inside of a courtroom... We handled stuff like adults. Yes there were ruff times but OUR children are happy healthy and well adjusted. And reaching for the stars. No matter "our" problems...
