Few years ago, I was travelling in a boda boda ( motorbike ) on the back; driver turned on this song out loud. We started to sing, and people follwing, running and dancing around. In the beautiful fields of Uganda. The best moment of my entire life. I felt so alive.
What a lot of people don't realize is that this song was written for The Rising, which was basically Bruce's 9/11 album. It's probably the most rocking song on that album outside of Mary's Place. He was telling New York City and the country "Don't worry, we're gonna find a way. We'll be back, and we're coming after you." When he plays it live, sometimes he has kids come on stage to sing the chorus part with nobody but Max leading them on with the beat. I think The Rising is his best album since the 80's and remains so.
There is a good reason why this guy is called 'The BOSS". He is a musician for the people. You can tell he really wants to engage with the audience and give them a top notch show. A lesson that a lot of the smug, arrogant, flashy young musicians of today could learn from.
I saw Bruce and the band in Sunderland (UK) on 22nd May 2024 and it was pouring down. They opened with this. I was lucky enough to get footage of them all coming off stage at the end of the show including Bruce who waved to us all. Best concert I’ve been to so far.
My dad played this song when we’re on a road trip. He took the top off the jeep and we sang this song as loud as we can. When we got to a hill we got out and sang it over and again. One of the best times I had with my dad.
I got married (second time) on 10/16/2020. My 21-year-old daughter asked to dance with me to this song, remembering how I played it over and over for her 17 years ago when she was just 4 years old. Can't help but get a tear in my eye knowing that she remembered...knowing that she listened...and knowing that she associates such a wonderful, hopeful song with her old man. :-)

This is a man who has an overflowing love and passion for music and his fans are keenly aware of this fact and it's reflected in their reaction to him. There is one thing advanced technology can't do for music and will never be able to do and we are watching it. There is so much to be said for the musician who leaves his clear "Human Imprint" on the music. And Bruce leaves his prints all over the music and his fans have no problem seeing it. ***** Having read my comments throughout RUclips, you certainly know I'm rarely at a loss for words. But you kind sir, have left me speechless. You even brought me to tears. Now that I have composed myself, I should simply say thank you and leave it at that. But I think you know I can't do that. When I experience music, I have this great desire to express myself. I have an absolute love affair with music and when I listen to it, it's not the song itself I feel compelled to speak about, but how the song makes me feel or how I believe it affects other people or the genuine love of that which I see an artist performing. It varies, but it's always written from the heart and I'm honored that you see the sincerity in my words. You have made my "Year" with your beautiful compliment and I could never express to you, how much it truly means to me. It's amazing to me too know that you have taken the time to hear me and for that, I could never thank you enough.....Diane
You once again honor me with this beautiful compliment and I thank you you so very much. I agree 100% with your thoughts about Mark Knopfler. He is a rare man who can paint a picture with his words. I can get nice and cozy in my favorite chair and listen to his music, headphones on, eyes closed and the next thing I know, I'm no longer in my comfy chair. He has taken me into his song. Everything around me disappears. All I'm aware of is the music. He can take you outside of yourself, which is sometimes a wonderful place to be. But there is nothing that can move me more than the outro of "Are We In Trouble Now". It is the most beautiful sound I've ever heard. It's not a complex piece but I can feel every note in that solo. I just wish it were longer. It deserves to be. I don't think you ever need to worry about my not expressing myself. I don't think it would be possible. I can't help but put myself out there when I hear certain music. I don't understand how more people don't. I thank you again for your gracious words. Truly.

This was my uncles favorite song after my Aunty passed away. My uncle & Aunty raised me so I was pretty much their daughter. My uncle just passed away last nite so this song is forever on repeat
I loved this song when I see him live.. he pulled a little boy from the audience and the little lad sang it. So gorgeous .. and what a legend to be seen with
God bless you Wanda, may you be forever filled with His peace, love and joy.

the sheer joy of this.
Probably my favorite Bruce Springsteen song, the happiness and the joy is just amazing and the band look like they have so much fun together. Clarence is on fire!
Whenever I'm feeling depressed and suicidal I just listen to this song. Takes me at least for a few mins away from my troubles to a better place. Thank you Bruce.
Don't ever give up on life. Even when you're completely down and out, there will always be someone to take your hand. Trust me. Grab a friend or loved one and dance with them to this song and feel your troubles disappear. I did it tonight! :)
I agree with Hugo, best of luck to you Drake!
ive had dark days to trust me felt depressed ,but in some way always gotten up of the hole and listened to bruce .hes the man beside the BIG MAN on the great horn ,shame hes gone now may he rest in peace .Clarence clemons.
Seriously, Drake, Hope you are ok. Isn't Bruce a complete antidote to feeling sad? Just keep playing. It's all good! Take care :-)
Bruce has seen a therapist for depression, etc.- you can do the same. Good luck to you.
No matter how lousy things can get, when Bruce tells you to just wait a minute hold on, there's a sunny day coming, well ... you know he's giving you the real deal. And guess what? That sunny day does come. I'm 70, disabled, life sometimes sux - but hell, Bruce knows it's all gonna work out fine. And I've believed him for 45 rockin years! ♪ #Boss
@@Nan-ly8zb Thanks I appreciate that 💘💘💘
I know what you mean. The first time after my divorce I felt good, was when I went to his concert in Rotterdam in 1988.
About tree and a half hour, I felt as if I went to a party.
That's the effect Bruce has on you.

What a true performer! On stage, no warm up act needed, just 3 hrs of pure entertainment. What a song writer/musician. Seen him at Etihad stadium, he'd still be playing now if it wasn't for local council not allowing him to keep playing. Love you Bruce!
One of the best. They are slowly disappearing the true talents so cherish.
