My dad remembers being in the crowd 40 years ago. He was 21 at the time and here, 40 years later, is his 21 year old daughter jamming to the same music. We both agree, Bruce is the Boss!!!
Bruce Springsteen is the best and he is a really good guy a normal dude. Am from Philly I now live at the Jersey shore Cape May New Jersey and I have seen Bruce just walking by himself on Wildwood boardwalk. Stopping talking to us and taking pictures with people. He said that it's his way of relaxing. Such a cool dude 😎
Awesome! This was my very first concert - The River Tour 1981. Bruce played for nearly four hours and seemed to savor every minute of it as did the audience. Thanks, Bruce!
Lmao I just love how he's trying to cue Max in the beginning and it takes a second try for him to explain what he wants. I remember reading that Max is known for watching Bruce like a hawk because you never know when he's gonna go Quarterback mode and call an audible. Bruce is a talented singer and song writer, but his James Brown-esque ability to lead a band with little details like that is so underrated. All front men/women of bands can take a cue from guys like him and James Brown. If you want your band to sound tight, you have to take charge. They don't call him the boss for nothing.
Young and fresh with clear rasp voice (unlike the studio version) and a great band. This live version is very fluid with accentuated rhythm, the best that I heard.
44 years ago. Damn. I was 13, home at the Jersey Shore, and working on the addition to the family house and remember WOBM radio saying they were going to play the latest single from Bruce for the first time in a few minutes. Hungry Heart......like it was yesterday.
"Hungry Heart" is another of those Springsteen songs where the tune is upbeat but the lyrics are glummer than a wet weekend in Wigan. My favourite track from The Boss and I even love his unintentional Dad Dancing' at the beginning.
I remember the first time I heard this song in my favorite bar, I searched for days to find the song. After knowing the song for years now, hearing a new interpretation of this song from back in the days, by the king himself, what a pleasure. I love this song !
My dad loves Springsteen and for his fiftieth b-day my sister and I pooled our money and bought us tickets to see him for our dad’s b-day. He was so happy! Gotta love Springsteen!
My kids did the same type of few months ago in Vegas They surprise me with the ticket. I was not too happy at the beginning because I’m going to tough times right now and that’s why they buy me the tickets but when I got there and I saw this guy the energy that he brings is amazing. I love this song , and a lot of the people were in the audience of them older people a lot of people in Las Vegas few months ago so yeah
Hungry Heart was one of the first singles I ever bought when it came out in 1980 . So funny how Bruce is in a suit jacket here and by 1984 he will be all buffed out wearing tight jeans and sleeveless shirts for his Born in the USA tour . 😎😎😎
Buenas tardes.
First Bruce song I ever heard and still my favorite. So sad that the 3 times I have seen him in concert they didn't play it one time. But still incredible shows.
Für mich der absolut beste Song ❤. Habe ihn auch mehrmals bei uns in Deutschland gesehen, leider war nie dieses Lied dabei. Aber so bleibt es für mich immer mein magisches hungry heart 🫠
I LOVE it when the vocal artist (AND writer) appreciates their band because THEY KNOW they are the crew that rides with them. THE BOSS! GET IT BRUCE! A legend...New Jersey stand up
One of the greatest songs ever.... And Bruce and the E street Band are one of the greatest bands and a groupd of some of the greatest human beings. We need more like them!!
I was there it was an incredible concert. Reagan was just elected and he had a rant about a dark day in America. Other than that it was Bruce reaching his peak.
Melody is the key ))). Nothing can capture a heart like a melody can. Gosh I wish I lived my live in 60s 70 s and 80s. IPhone 15S and Tessa for Billboard top 20 US hits. Every week something special
Lots of great people now too:) If you like this I'd recomend checking out The war on drugs and Kurt Vile who are both heavily influenced by this kind of music:)
Bruce was brilliant back in the day. He clearly peaked in the late 70s / early 80s. I still enjoy a lot of the stuff he's done since Born in the USA, but his and the band's music and performance were just so much more sophisticated and subtle back then, with little touches of jazz and r'n'b. He almost seems like a mixture of Roy Orbison and Tom Waits in this 😄
his shows around 75/76 when he was just on the cusp of breaking out were tremendous, he was really hungry and putting on these intimate performances with his whole being
To think he didn't want to record this one... one of his best songs. Always a "wake up, people" in his concerts. I love it. Greetings from São Paulo, Brazil!
Great Song Love it! One of My Other FAVORITE Bruce Springsteen Songs We Are Hungry from the Inside To Have A Hungry Heart Oh yeah!!! Always! Great Song Love it! 🙂👍🎶🎵
Came here after the handmaids tale. I already loved this song. I love Bruce anyway, but I wanted to hear a live version of this. Well I like him and the song even more now ❤️👏
Best live performance of a song. The voice, the entire band. Its all so special and none of it works without each of them. 03:10 onwards makes me cry. Magical
these were the days when people could sing and sing well on stage. now the only song sang to near perfection on stage (with equally bad dance moves for a stage performer) is pumped up kicks. man, these were the days.
I understand perfectly those who vote dislike, it is normal, they lack musical education. Quiet, the realm of music is not yours, it is from Springsteen ...
I always come back to this video because everything about this performance just puts me in such a great mood. It has this youthful and carefree joy about it and it's totally contagious!
In my humble opinion is the best Springsteen song.
Its good, it's fun and boppy but not his best.I still love it tho.
Para mi su mejor cancion es the river
A mí también es la canción que más me gusta de Bruce 😊.
My favorite boss
essa e born in the usa as melhores.
My dad remembers being in the crowd 40 years ago. He was 21 at the time and here, 40 years later, is his 21 year old daughter jamming to the same music. We both agree, Bruce is the Boss!!!

That's amazing

Bruce is the boss . I second that .
Awesome! This was my very first concert - The River Tour 1981. Bruce played for nearly four hours and seemed to savor every minute of it as did the audience. Thanks, Bruce!
Tempe az 1980 November 5.
YALL LEAVE HIS DANCING ALONE ITS CUTE
I personally think the "Drunk Uncle" dancing is adorable
Thx 😂
Wait that was dancing?
He is the epitome of why black pple laugh and joke when they see white pple dance
He's an American legend. He can step however he wants.
This must be the best version of the song by far. However it has been watched only 500K times. Where is the taste of music of Springsteen's fans?
This is what live music is supposed to be like...
Wow..... still gives chills at 59... he is and still is .... The Boss!
Lmao I just love how he's trying to cue Max in the beginning and it takes a second try for him to explain what he wants. I remember reading that Max is known for watching Bruce like a hawk because you never know when he's gonna go Quarterback mode and call an audible.

Amen.
Excellent analysis
Young and fresh with clear rasp voice (unlike the studio version) and a great band. This live version is very fluid with accentuated rhythm, the best that I heard.
For sure, better than studio.
like them both....the sped up vocal in the studio version is unique and sweeter sounding though.@@elopes77
He's the perfect entertainer.
44 years ago. Damn. I was 13, home at the Jersey Shore, and working on the addition to the family house and remember WOBM radio saying they were going to play the latest single from Bruce for the first time in a few minutes. Hungry Heart......like it was yesterday.
40years old. This sold could be released now and it be a hit.
"Hungry Heart" is another of those Springsteen songs where the tune is upbeat but the lyrics are glummer than a wet weekend in Wigan.
My favourite track from The Boss and I even love his unintentional Dad Dancing' at the beginning.
Yeah, it’s ironic. Almost like Billy Ocean’s “Love Really Hurts Without You”
"Johnny 99" has an absolutely rocking mood for an absolutely miserable song
Like going out for cigarettes at 11pm and leaning the wife & kid, never to look back.
I'm 63 years old and it's 2024. this is priceless.you will never find this type of talent on AGT. Love you Bruce. Rock on👍❤️
I was 6 months old when The River album released 43 years ago.
back when all you needed was talent
Gary W. Talent
Ladies and gentlemen, Springsteen. Modern musicians, please bend a knee and weep
🌹👏👏👏👏👏💜
“YA’ WANNA BE LIKE HIM, BUT YA’ CAN’T!”
I feel so sad but happy at the same time --- very sad that musicians like this don't exist anymore --- but happy that I was alive when they did
I remember the first time I heard this song in my favorite bar, I searched for days to find the song. After knowing the song for years now, hearing a new interpretation of this song from back in the days, by the king himself, what a pleasure. I love this song !
By the BOSS himself!
good episode! from japan
Hungry heart lol
It should be required by law to play this song in all bars --- it's the anthem for lonely guys trying to find "love" LOL
1980
So refreshing to see his dad moves
He's really embracing the "drunk uncle" vibe but it's adorable
For me this was Bruce’s best hit! Love it!
You and me both and Dancing in the Dark. Im 28 years old btw and I love Bruce Springsteen
You're right !!!
From all of his legacy.
My dad loves Springsteen and for his fiftieth b-day my sister and I pooled our money and bought us tickets to see him for our dad’s b-day. He was so happy!
Gotta love Springsteen!
My kids did the same type of few months ago in Vegas

RIP MAX, the best drummer I’ve ever seen live
We were all so much leaner then. God, I love the Boss. Best performer ever.

One of the greatest songs ever.... And Bruce and the E street Band are one of the greatest bands and a groupd of some of the greatest human beings. We need more like them!!
Still one of my very favorite songs. Coolest non-Texan to ever wear cowboy boots. 😁
Even in his most pop song he absolutely kills it like it’s a rock and roll anthem
His songs, reminds me of life experience.. every words in sings it’s a heartfelt..! How he has endured.. Awesome..
Super Wow! He has it going on. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️😁😁😁😁😁
2:39 No one else on the planet can do it like the Boss does!
I was there it was an incredible concert. Reagan was just elected and he had a rant about a dark day in America. Other than that it was Bruce reaching his peak.
We fell in love. I knew it had to end. We took what we had and ripped it apart. Here I am down in Kingstown again.
One of his best works imo.
Love this song
The Bosssssss!!!!!!!
やっぱり、ブルース・スプリングスティーン 最高!
Love the song, excellent band, especially the saxophone player
Melody is the key ))). Nothing can capture a heart like a melody can.

I always come back to this video because everything about this performance just puts me in such a great mood. It has this youthful and carefree joy about it and it's totally contagious!
This song took me back in the 80
Gotta love the screaming Hammond B3 solo by Danny F. ! We miss you so much !
The most overlooked member of the one and only E!- Street- Band!
Mein Gott😱
Wie alt war er hier?
Er macht heute noch eine tolle Figur.
Ein Mann mit Charismafür die Ewigkeit🥰
Ich glaube er 35 war.
I love this
Really sad song about leaving your kids and wife and not being able to settle down
Love the Boss! I had a snap button shirt like that back in 1980 too lol
the weekend has just started :)
