Nice video, any tips on removing the clutch elbow where from the slave to the elbow. It can be done outside the gearbox but I think it seems to have plastic spring lugs. Trying to align the elbow push pin isn't fun. I keep getting a leak there into the bellhousing but the clutch bleeds fine and works until the fluid drains. I assume as the clutch comes back no problem when bled (countless times) it's not the slave, cheers

Great video well explained 👍 I've just bought a 2010 cdti insignia. Apparently it's just had a brand new clutch csc and dmf, driving it yesterday and gears was hard to select then pedal dropped to floor. Is it a case of poor bleed up or have they had my pants down and lied

Possibly may need a good bleed

I know this is likely fixed either way but look at your brake fluid level (clutch uses the same reservoir), the clutch will fail before you run out of brake fluid. If it's low, likely a leak, if you're lucky look around the bleed nipple, maybe wasn't fully tightened. That's the best option, poss a master cylinder leak , it's up behind the clutch pedal inside the car, carpet will likely be damp/wet around the clutch pedal if the master has gone. There may be a leak in a line but failing those it's likely the slave in the gearbox, you'll usually always get a puddle, if you have an undertray it should still seep through the joins, it will when you bleed it if the slave as gone. Hopefully a bad bleed but please, keep the presure low if pressure bleeding, the slave can pop pretty easily. I'd stick around 5-10 PSI , you can go higher but if the slave is weak, worn, you risk popping it and that's a box out or lower the sub frame, seperate the box with squeeze your hand in and change the slave, can be done boggit and leggit has done a video showing it, high risk of jamming fingers, as happened in his video, yeah, not fun that one.

Brilliant mate! What replacement clutch and flywheel did you use? Was the pedal nice and light afterwards?
Can the steering knuckle only go back on the same way it came off or is it possible to be off a spline or two?
    Cheers!

@@marksutherland774 my clutch was sticking, so I bleed the system, probably incorrectly. It felt really nice. 2 days later it broke down. The pin connecting the flexible clutch hose to the elbow was corroded and it broke off. Replaced with a GM elbow, everything seems alright no leak. Been trying to pressure bleed at 1.5 bar using a sealer vs820. The pressure holds, but the clutch pedal never gains any response back, not too much fluid coming out of the bleed nipple. With the pressure bleeder, I would assume fluid come out of the bleed nipple easily. Possibly the master cylinder gone bad, as it was sticking before. I tried flicking the pedal a couple of time, sometimes it feel like the pressure came but a fluke, then it goes down to floor again.... I am replacing the master cylinder now, a pain in the pass in the Astra J GTC, if that didn't fix. Then the garage has already given a hefty bill... I will be left with no choice, as I can't replace the slave myself. :(

@@PabitraPadhy Ok from experience, 1.5 bar is about 21 PSI and likely too high and has likely blown the slave unit in the gearbox. My is actually going in to get the clutch slave etc done on Sat (I have another car and a van so I was in no rush but did want to tackle it myself but in the end I couldn't). You might need to open the bleed nipple more, it's a balancing act, you don't to get it completely off. I had a clutch a couple of times, I drove it but it always ended up failing again. The tell tale foe me was clutch fluid pissing from the under the car (and I have the undertray fiitted), see leaking from the gearbox and bellhousing joint. The original problem was likely a master cylinder but I probably put too high a pressure on the bleeder and blew the slave, maybe a pin hole at first but it will only get bigger and did.
If you are using up fluid when you're bleeding it and not much is coming out the nipple, very high chance a pipe (likely in the gearbox, slave) has burst as the fluid has to go somewhere and if it's not coming out the bleed nipple it's going somewhere else. Yeah elbow joins are a pain, what a poor design. Looking at a lot of American cars they have a coupling, like connecting 2 brake pipes together with a brass fitting, way stronger and less complicated.
Again the same thing I had a solid pedal but in the end, it would give, quite literally a sinking feeling but it would be instant. I will update you saturday what was actually gone, my money is on the slave inside the box but I will post back. Might not help much put at least you'll have an idea what it's likely to be.
